Fashion Advice?

I know the types of things I like. I know what looks good on me (for the most part anyway). I'm having an issue though. Most of what I like are things that would draw attention to me. I like more fashionable clothes that tend to be a bit more flashy in style. Nothing revealing, or with lots of sequins, or anything like that but i still feel like if I went out in some of the things I want it would draw unwanted attention. I can't really pull off the t-shirt and jeans look as my body shape is still too masculine for anything form fitting. I can't wear anything that reveals too much chest as even after I shave, you can still see stubble. I'm sort of at a loss of things to look at that would look good on me. I know that it is hard to recommend things with out seeing me in person, but does anyone have some suggestions of what sort of thing to start looking at?

Monika,

I had the same problem with the chest hair in the early months as well. Shaving doesn't work that well as you have described. My solution was to pluck it all out and every few days I pluck again. It now grows very thin and there is now shadow even if I get lazy and shave it. depending on your body this may not work well for you. Moving on to suggestion two. It is winter and the time for turtlenecks is upon us. I have three, no four that I wear regularly. Some are sleeveless and other long sleeved. It gets rid of two problem areas the throat an chest. I have noticed that most of the close I get from thrift stores is a little short in the body. What to do? I solve that problem by wearing long camisole underneath. It also helps with plunging neck lines. I have a sweater set that the top sweater buttons at the top and that is it. You are tall if I remember and you will always be the center of attention in any room you walk into. as long as you aren't wearing provocative clothing go for it girl. You only have one life to live and you will only be young and beautiful for a little while before you are mature and beautiful. I am always getting compliments on my clothes and it makes me feel great when I do. I spend a lot of time putting together outfits and jewelery and shoes and tights and purses and make up together for a complete look. I feel better about myself and it shows. I have been stared down by some very pretty girls in San Diego and I stare right back. I am a special kind of woman and and I live like it.

Honey.....

I'm 60 and full time...My experience growing up was the "peasant skirts" ...puffy blouses and tie-dye stuff for girls...

But I missed all of that...

Now I dress "age appropriate"...but, stylishly!

It all depends on your stage of transition,I suppose....you mention that the "jeans and T shirt" won't cut it right now...But, don't sell youselof short...half of the people in the world are women...all shapes and sizes...

to be able to make any suggestions...

There is always a way!

Just from my personal experience, I tried the Jeans and t-shirt and actually look pretty good in it. I am overweight and when I wore my guys clothes it always has to be baggy and I felt horrible if my stomach showed or my moobs. I first bought woman's jeans years ago way before hrt. I started trying ladies t-shirt about 6 months ago and realized it was more comfortable being tighter and noticed it is cut differently in the body/waist area, even with broad shoulders and a bit of a belly the shirts make me feel slimmer and the make my breasts stand out more. They are also cut differently in the bottom part to fit the hips but the actually make hips look a bit wider. And just to top it off it is made of a much softer materiel than guys t shirt. (I love being a woman, my clothes are all softer) I must say that the JMS from walmart is very cheap and looks ok when you put them on but don't hold their shape at all, but it is a very inexpensive first t shirt to try.Hope this helps some.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll be going out for the first time in years pretty soon, and really just want to blend in. Most of the things I like are from places like Banana Republic, Buckle, and Nordstrom. I just want to be able to go out and be me, not have to worry about people noticing me.

Emily, thanks for the turtleneck suggestion. I'll have to see what I can find.

DJ, thanks for the pep talk! I'll have to revisit the t-shirt and jeans thing. I'm just afraid of looking pregnant or something.

Nadine, I'll have to go and check out those t-shirts! Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, are the styles you like appropriate for the place you would be wearing them? Meaning do you see other women wearing similar styles or colors? If not then you may want to reconsider or at least tone down the colors. For me, I used to stick with earth-tone solid colors as they were drab and not eye-catching. Lately though I have found myself wearing prints more (at least for tops) and also wearing purple more. If you have a cute outfit on, it usually doesn't matter the color but more how you wear it and how good it looks on you.

I've also read in a lot of magazines that you don't have to splurge on latest styles and trends but incorporate one or two latest trend items into your regular wardrobe. The example they used was instead of buying an animal print blouse, buy an animal print belt or bracelet and work it into your outfit that way.

I personally have stopped wearing t-shirts with jeans. Jeans go well with cute regular tops as well, so find a cute one you like and pair it with jeans for a nice casual every day outfit.

Everybody's advice to you on this thread is just great. Completely agree with everything everybody told you. These are smart, stylish gals here with real-world experience. Listen to them.

All I can possibly add is to go with your instincts, hon. The places you shop at are GREAT places in my book anyway. My tastes seem to run similarly to yours: Flashy but with color rather than garrishness, upscale casual look that pops according to your taste and instinct.

I'd dress to your tastes, your instinct and your whims. Strut your stuff and love it. Radiate, girl. How? By being yourself.

Try it and see!

;) Lacey

I am curious if anyone else has had an issue wearing panties.  After awhile I find that my dangly's tend to get a bit sensitive after a few days of wearing them and I'll stop for a while so they don't get sore. This is so annoying, I want to wear panties more often. I have tried going up a size (which helps, but not alot). I've also seen a doctor, he said everything is well.  Any advice would be welcome

I’ll bet you didn’t know that South Carolina has at least one and sometimes more earthquakes every month!  And no fracking here.     No wind mills either.  But for some reason we make a lot of ethanol.  We grow more trees than most but it’s all for paper and pole use. Cash crops are still cotton and tobacco.  Used to be a big producer of rice now it’s more of a unique crop, Carolina gold.  Pecans and peanuts are big too.  Lots of fruits and vegetable farms.

If your back hurts when you cycle you ought to consider getting your bike professionally adjusted at a bike shop. They will measure your body proportions, stride, knee angle, etc. to determine how best to adjust your saddle and handle bars. Sometimes even minor adjustments can make a huge difference.    Unless you have health-based restrictions, I'd say ride as much as you like. They will measure your body proportions, stride, knee angle, etc. to determine how best to adjust your saddle and handle bars. Sometimes even minor adjustments can make a huge difference.    I used to be an avid cyclist. Not into group rides or speed, but I used to ride by myself for hours. It's very enjoyable. If you're looking to improve your cardio health, get a fitness tracker like a fitbit which tracks your heart rate. I do have health issues and for that reason no longer ride on the road. But I converted my bike into a stationary bike very easily with a magnet powered stand which was about 50 bucks. My physical therapist gave me a HIIT (high intensity interval training) schedule to follow tailored to one of my health issues. My case is specific and unfortunately it's a challenge for me to balance getting enough cardio exercise without pushing myself into post-exertional malaise. But I can share with you a general guidine to try to amp up your cardio tolerance.   Determine your "recovery pace" and "base pace" heart rate. There are guidelines online you can find to figure that out based on your age, weight, and other qualities. Then track your heart rate as you ride and develop muscle memory for how much exertion corresponds to those paces. For example, base pace should feel like effort, but not strain. Recovery pace should feel easy, but like you're still in control of propelling the bike. In this way you'll develop better intuition for your bike's gears, especially at different inclines.   Give yourself a 5 minute warm up to get your heart rate to the high end of your resting pace. Then alternate base pace (effort but no strain, keeping your heart rate within a higher range, but backing off if it gets too high) with resting pace (allowing heart rate to lower, but maintaining it just below the low end of base pace) in 4 minute intervals. Finish with 5 minutes cool down allowing your heart rate to lower towards the lower end of resting pace. If you try this type of HIIT routine, your basic workout can be 5 (warmup) +4 (base pace) +4 (resting pace) +4 (base pace) +5 (cool down) =22 minutes. Try it twice a week. Then as you develop endurance, add another 4+4 (resting followed by base) min pair before the cool down.   I hope you are able to get your bike adjusted to be pain free & learn to enjoy cycling and enjoying better overall health.

Well my day at work is done.  It was a beautiful day here so far.     Yes @Mirrabooka the United States is noted for the tornados and extreme destruction they cause.  We have long wide open areas between the Rocky Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains where weather extremes have a chance to buildup.  Even East of the Appalachians since those mountains are so old and eroded they aren’t very tall anymore.  Geologist say that early in the history of our planet they were as tall as the tallest mountains on earth but now few reach 4000 feet.   But they have no mercy for anything when they get going.   Our continent has just about everything, earthquakes fire floods hurricanes mud slides rock slides, hurricanes blizzards drought dust storms just about everything thing nature can possibly through at us.

Nope, I'm not being paranoid, I had screen shot everything that happened to me, before it got taken down to cover up what they sent me in an email. I contacted group leaders within our community, and I explained and showed some of the evidence, next they referred to contact an attorney within the community. I had not called the lawyer back hoping things would settle down. In the meantime, just recently an  lbtqai+ community held a Zoom meeting, as I explained my story. The board is thinking about getting a guest speaker on how we can be safe online.

True unfortunately. I do see a bit of difference between gender issues and sexuality, although they are related and frequently overlap.  Hardly a reason to fight with each other though.

I have maybe 4.  I tend to carry the same one for a long time.  2 of them are from Gypsy Rose that I got from a friend that was running a "hippie" boutique at the time.  They are just big enough to be able to slip my Mac book air in with the other stuff. I do have a plain green one, and a beat-up old leather one that I actually used sometimes as a guy when I could get away with it.  (another tell that I managed to ignore up till I couldn't) This thread is kinda making me think I might expand my collection.  A nice leather bag would be sweet.  But I am a bit particular.  Humm……

Greetings all!   I am looking at bringing some cycling time into my weekly exercise, but honestly, right now my back just murders me when I try to do anything more than 10 minutes.   What that being said, I do have some questions for those here, if anyone is willing to answer.  ^.^   Do you cycle as part of exercise? If so, how much? How difficult is the route you take? What are your ultimate goals?   I'll go first.   I do, but only once a week. Once a week for roughly 15 minutes. I use a very flat, low resistance route. My ultimate goals are to keep the rump and thigh thickness, while working some cardio into the routine to keep it interesting.   I'm asking for advice on what is a good starter range, as I'm not sure if I'm just causing myself discomfort without any benefit with the above routines.
