At Last An Idea

So I've made a desicion on what to do. As some of you may know I have been really struggeling with who and what I am. A few days ago I was hit with the moment I was waiting for. One of those "Aha!" type of moments. I was chating in the FtM chat room with a few guys and they were talking about parenting. It was at one point that I said, without thinking, "Yeah I hope one day I can be a great dad." I stopped, realized what I had just said, and started crying tears of joy. I now know that I am truly a man inside. The thing is that I had just had an appointment with my therapist where I agreed to take it slow and work on other things before I re-examined my gender issues. I think that when I go back in I will tell him about my moment of realization and we can start dicussing coming out to family and friends. Truly I can't wait to come out, but I am wiling to wait a week or so before I do. There are still some emotions I am struggeling with but I am now sure of what I am and what I want to do.

Now the hardest thing I am thinking about right now is a new name. My given name is Kelsey and my middle name is Anna. Both to femminen for my liking. I was thinking of keeping Kelsey as my middle name (same as my grandpa) but I can't think of a good fisrt name...Any suggestions?

I am glad to hear that you are thinking about things and have been making progress

Names are difficult. I would suggest that you relax on the name and let your name find you

Good to hear that you're doing better, I was worried about you from the tone of your posts...

But I'm glad that you had a uber-happy moment. Transitioning (not just the physical part - the mental and emotional realization journey) is a gigantic rollercoaster. There's extreme highs and extreme lows, and then extreme moments where you don't know what you're doing or why or if it's the right thing to do.

It's worth it though. It's not easy, but it's worth it in the end to look in a mirror and see more of yourself than you ever have.

As for finding names.... eh, you'll go through a few before you find one that *feels* right. You just spend a lifetime trying to match your identity to your name and it didn't work, so now try and find a name that matches your identity. And remember that no one can tell you who you are.

If you want suggestions though, you "feel" like a Steven to me. That way, friends can shorten it to "Stevie" to tease you or affectionately call you that and when you get older, you can go to "Steve" or "Steven"

Vincent works too, "Vinnie" would be a good nick name for you. Yeah, scratch Stevie, I like Vinnie.
