Hello:

I am 45 years old and I finally found a name for my condition "GID". I've always known that I was different but I didn't know what to call it. At some point in my life I went out with women thinking I was a lesbian which I wasn't. Then I got into a relationship with a man but deep down inside I knew I couldn't be a wife. Not too long ago I went into a deep depression and thoughts of suicide so I decided to go to a gender therapyst, since I knew that the cause of my depression was my gender identity. Talking with my therapist he spoke about transmen so I started researching it. I bought like 4 books on the subject and it has been inspirational and a realization of who I am and what I need to do.

Anyway, I do not want to make this post too long, I am so glad I found a community that is understanding and is going through similar experiences as I have. Thanks so much for your support and I am looking forward in sharing my experiences with you.

Hi StrandedOutThere,

The books I got were the following:

Becoming a Visible Man by Jameson Greene

From the Inside Out: Radical Gender Transformation, FTM and Beyond

Transmen and FTMs: Identities, Bodies, Genders, and Sexualities

Both Sides Now: One Man's Journey Through Womanhood by Dhillon Kosla

The one I am reading at the moment is "Becoming a Visible Man" as I am a slow reader.

Is an amazing book and very informative, in fact Jameson Greene is one of the pioneers of transmen if I am not mistaken. He transitioned at the age of 39.

I really like Jamison Green. He is to transmen what Andrea James is to transwomen. Even though I am from the opposite side of the fence, I enjoyed Becoming a visible man. I would also highly recommend The Testosterone Files by Max Wolf Valerio and True Selves by Mildred Brown.
