Do I Pass?

Guest Nay!

Recommended Posts

Hey.

A couple of months ago, I thought I passed easily. I got ‘mate’, ‘dude’ etc from people in the street or in shops quite alot. My confidence level at that time was alot higher then it is now, mainly because I no longer get ‘mate’ etc when I‘m outside. I’ve changed my look alot over those few months, trying to find myself.

I ask my mum on a daily basis if I pass, and she can’t tell me. I’ll always be her daughter. I ask people I know, which must drive them mad sometimes. They say I pass, but I just don’t see it anymore. I’m convinced I look like a girl, and spend hours just staring in the mirror hoping I’ll see what my friends claim to see.

Do I pass? If not, what can I do to change that?

i think you could pass pretty easily. however, the scarf kind of had a feminizing effect in my opinion. i think without the scarf you would pass well...you actually look like a cis-guy i work with.

I think you have the ability to pass very well. The scarf and the patterned shirt definitely don't help, though. I also think a more masculine haircut might do you good. Perhaps square off your sideburns (this works wonders for passing, I've found.) Go for less of the feathery/pixie look with your hair. A lot of women who have short hair cut it like that.

Just my advice.

If your friends say you pass, then you probably do... a lot has to do with the way you just are and carry yourself. Although, I'd agree with the idea to loose the scarf. Men's hats and ballcaps also do wonders.

Other than that... T. Miracle drug of miracle drugs... guaranteed to make you look more boy-like.

Thanks for all the advice, it’s really appreciated.

The scarf is actually my sisters, I use it to hide the top of my binder on certain tops, so I will gladly give that back to her. I’m getting my hair cut shorter in a week, so hopefully that’ll help.

Yeah, you pass. Agree with the above comments RE the scarf and Hair (especially sideburns - dont make them pointy).

Also, if you have to wear a scarf to hide your binder with a shirt, find a different shirt to wear - ditch the scarf and any shirt you cant wear with a binder.

You totally pass. If I saw you on the street I'd think you were a guy straight up, no questions asked. Then I'd chase after you because I like your hair and the way you dress =]

Thanks everyone.

I was trying to grow my hair out, to see if I passed with longer hair then I’m used to. But I’m guessing that wont help me. I’m not really bothered, I like shorter hair anyway.

As for my shirts, I can wear a white top underneath most of them and it looks fine, and hides my binder. So that’s good, I got really worried when people could see my binder.

RootsRadicals: Lol, thanks :)

@MaeBe, Good luck and best wishes on the new start in the Great Northwest. I don’t know a parent that didn’t call out their kids for being drunk or high as rebellious teenagers. I just told my teens that they can’t kid a kidder, and I was a teenager early 1970s we could drink legally at 18 so I have tons of experience spotting drunk kids.    As for the poetry, I liked it.  We never have enough support bras or tee shirts in the rotation.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Oh my @KymmieL, I’m sorry you’re on the job hunt again. They didn’t seem to be a good fit for you anyway. You deserve to be treated fairly and not undermined by competing owners who don’t communicate well.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Greetings everyone,   This is my introduction, I'm old and like donuts!  Let's see, what else...   I started my transition VERY recently, 5/17, after feeling like I've been uncomfortable doing it for like 20 years.  I lived in states where LGBT rights are strained, and have recently moved to a more friendly state.  I'm short, like gardening and crafts and rain.  Still a huge mixture of nervous, scared, excited and elated to finally be in a position where I can start.  I'm kind of easily excited, have the attention span of a humming bird does that to one, and usually medicate that with video games.  Not much else about me for now.  Started exercising so I can get my weight down as part of the transformation.  Still, I joined as I have questions and wanted to be with like minded folks.   Also, love trading recipes.
