I've noticed a trend recently of girls wearing various tights/nylons/pantyhose under shorts.

Who started this? This is not attractive, pretty or fun. This must stop.

Fishnets under destroyed jeans is cute, but THIS?

Hi Kelise,

Living here in the land of perpetual gloom (aka Mordor), my legs are so white they're luminescent! You've probably never heard of a tanning salon, but around here, it's either that or wear stockings!

Love, Kat

For we age gifted women, nylons and tights can cover a multitude of sins.

I think it comes out of the resurgence of rollerdirby! I went to a match in Santa Barbra and shorts with fishnets was the uniform of the day! so it must have evolved some into just tights or nylons.

I dont think I'll be wearing it though!

I personally like this style. Not something I could ever wear myself, but I see nothing wrong with it. What I do have a problem with is leggings/tights as pants. Ugh.

There was a fashion in the 70s called hot pants - as an alternative to mini skirts which had become micro minis and a little too short for most girls - they were usually rather dressy but very short shorts - never really cut offs at that time and to make the outfit complete they were supposed to be worn with pantyhose or tights.

In cold weather they were to be worn under Maxi coats.

This new look is probably a dressed down version of the original.

Love ya,

Sally

Not a fan, but then again, I have really white legs too so I think I'll just stick to pants. In the event someone is wondering I do not tan, I freckle.

I agree complete but will add a sweater dress to this as well.

As for Leggings with shorts it looks a bit off to me and I am an 80s girl the whole way. One other time I feel leggings are not suited is worn with a formal/cocktail type dress, this is a nylons only thing.

Fashion is an ebb and flow...Nostalgia always comes back. In the 40's and 50's it was gartered stockings. In the 70's and 80's pantyhose was the dress code. In the 90's and now it's the bare leg. But we are seeing a reimergence of the gartered stockings. I could see myself doing this. Tights and hose rock! But, there are appropriate times for each as stated by Megan.

Not the biggest fan of jean shorts with tights. But i absolutely love a pair of Dressy shorts with them. Black shorts to black, or black to navy. Grey with blues, greens and even purples. At times white leggings or textured tights in the fall are all some of the combos i have seen that i thought were so cute together.

Actually, I was wrong. I'm totally rocking this look right now and it's not half bad. I don't feel as exposed as I would in short shorts alone and I think it's quite comfy. I saw a girl at the mall yesterday who was wearing olive (camo) coloured shorts with lace patterned tights. It was really cute, but her Uggs killed it. I think it really depends on who's wearing it and what the shorts and tights look like.

Oh! Natalie. Uggs! yuck, horrible, disgusting. I can do shorts and tights. But Uggs burn at my very soul on the sheer horror they are. I am sorry that you had to witness such an atrocity lol :P I mean if women want there feet to look big and fat i will gladly trade my feet away for something smaller. lol, feet transplants.

Note, it's not the tights/leggings/hose/stockings I have a problem with. Personally, I love all of those and if I could find the right shoes, I'd wear them more often. It's the pairing of them with shorts that's the problem. Skirts and dresses are fine, but not shorts. It's like guys wearing black socks with shorts, it's just not right.

Uggs and Crocs are the 2 biggest footwear atrocities known to woman. The only time I can forgive Uggs (and this is just barely) is with skinny jeans. I just don't think they look right with anything. Crocs, there's no excuse for lol.

I think you either need to wear a heel or basic black flats with tights. Just me though.

I am an evangelical  I am also transgender.  This is an issue. I have read up on it.  I am not an expert, but I have done a lot of reading.   One thing I do not get about people who take that position is that evangelicals are all about salvation by faith alone by Christ alone by grace alone - unless you are transgender.  Then you cannot be saved, these say, unless you do the work of un-transgendering yourself.  Which is, practically, impossible.  I have read the "solutions" and I don't buy them, obviously, because they do not work.    In evangelicalism salvation is by faith alone, Christ alone, grace alone, without any merit of our own.  That means, to an evangelical, we come to Christ as we are,  in the words of a glorious hymn,   1 Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bidd'st me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   2 Just as I am, and waiting not to rid my soul of one dark blot, to thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   3 Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt, fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   4 Just as I am, thou wilt receive, wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve; because thy promise I believe, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   We do not clean ourselves up BEFORE we come to Christ.  We let Him clean us up AFTER we come to Him.    Those who insist that transgender people cannot be saved are actually preaching another Gospel, a Gospel of works, and have wandered away from the glorious Gospel into works.  That is strong but true.   Struggling with legalism and grace, I have found more of God's mercy and grace available to me because I struggle with being transgender and seeking His resolution of it.  Which, not having the struggle, I would not have needed to seek Him earnestly on this.

Eventually, (especially if you start T,) things will even out. The excitement you feel is from everything being so new. Finally knowing yourself and having others recognise you can be thrilling. However, because it is your natural state of being, eventually that wears off. There's nothing exciting about it anymore because it's "just you." (Which is a perfect thing to be!) This, however, can lead to disappointment. Trust me when I say however, that that disappointment and jarring reaction to wrong pronouns will go away, and you'll once again feel comfortable in yourself.

I love long hair. I'm wanting my hair to touch the floor. I guess we shall see how long it can get.

I wear a wig most of the time.  But I can get by with my natural (shoulder length) hair if I wear a hat or something to cover the mostly empty top. Unfortunately that train has left the station, sigh.

Oddly enough, just this weekend I read some of my poetry at a local event.  In this case it was a Pride group so I didn't have a particular advantage.  But I have read in more inclusive (of cis people) situations, and been fairly well received.  Let's face it, cis people do deserve an equal chance.   I suppose this might be a problem in the future.
    • Ivy
Of course we do.  The few friends I do have are almost exclusively cis or trans women. I think I could have a relationship with a man, but he would be kinda "other" to me.  Could be interesting though. I never have understood guys - even when I was trying to be one.
