A Possible Loop Hole To Get Around Cfr's Srs Prohibition

I am always coming up with different ways to get my SRS covered since I am living on a fixed income. My latest thought and I realize this may not work for everyone. First I have my Birth Certificate changed to female along with my name change. Under Minnesota Law a judge has the authority to order this done and the original is sealed forever. I then take my new Birth Certificate in to the VA and have my gender marker changed in their records from Male to Female. The CFR's are specific in prohibiting gender alteration surgery. They do not however prohibit gender confirmation surgery. Since I am already listed on record as a female the surgery would not be altering my gender, it would be confirming what the record already shows. I am sure this would take some work to get through, but hey I have nothing better to do than try. Am I just way out on a limb with this? Should I go back to thinking of other ways and leave this one in the dust bin?

Actually, I feel the odds of that working are low.

1]Remember, the VA medical records are keyed to your service jacket. You cannot change the gender markers for your military records.

2] This maybe a moot effort to start with. I keep hearing skitterings of people being approved on a case by case basis for SRS/GRS. I've had 3 peeps who've been asked if they want SRS. You don't ask that question if your response is going to be "Sorry, but we don't do that".

Play nice, and ask nicely. Who knows, that may work.
