I just got off the phone with my therapist. Finally I got the courage to ask him point blank if I'd be able to start T in September. By September my sticky "life circumstances" will be sorted and I'll be free and clear. He said that he didn't see any reason why that couldn't happen. He told me that I seemed to have a good handle on things and that he would write me the letter. We're going to talk more about my T/chest surgery timeline next week.

OMG I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!

Now 2 months seems like forever.

DID I MENTION THAT I AM SO EXCITED?!!

This is the happiest day of my life!!

Well, the day I actually start T might be happier...but for now, this takes it.

COOL!!!!!

I'm happy for you!!!

I'll be starting at the end of the month as soon as I know what's going on in gyno land. The only reason we're waiting is to see when I can get my dang hysto, which I hope can be ASAP. I see the gyno Weds.

Congrats man, I had to ask my therapist straight out I think mainly for her to get the idea that I was serious and didn't want to just wait around. Haha, just wait till you have the script in your hand, and then the t in your butt :P Best feelings in the world.

Hey guys, so get this. After I posted this, I had to drive home. Let us just say that I was...happy. For me, my happiness is positively correlated with both driving speed and music volume. Yeah, I was driving fast and blaring some System of a Down. Next thing I know I see the old blue lights in my rear view mirror. I pull over. When the cop comes up, I am uber polite and call the guy sir even though he only looks about 22 or 23 and I am waaaay older than that. Well not way older, but ya'll get the point. When getting pulled over, my strategy with the police is not to make excuses and just take your lumps. In this case, I was definitely speeding (just shy of 20 over...ouch) and I also definitely took a right on red when there was a sign saying that you can't do that. My mind just wasn't on what I was doing. Yeah, it was actually kind of embarrassing to get busted for driving like a bonehead at my age. Anyway, so I hand over my license and the cop goes back to his car. When he comes back he says "I'm going to cut you a break tonight". My heart is pounding at this point. Then he tells me that the two tickets I would have gotten would have been for about $500. Narrow escape!! The T gods were smiling on me I guess...

The moral (or morals) of this story is...even when you are really, really happy, be responsible with your driving. Also, when you get pulled over, don't give the cop excuses and be really, really polite. Also, before last night, I hadn't been pulled over for anything since like 1995 so that probably helped too.

I am also going to ask my therapyst if I can start it within the next 2 months as well. I am much more comfortable with myself and my masculinity. Woot!!! You must feel overjoyed. Lets have a party and celebrate.

Tabe,

I am so totally down with all that stuff, especially the B.O.! It's awesome to get in touch with my "earthier" side. No doubt, you'll be able to join me soon enough!

Don't forget to include "Body hair where you'd never think you'd have it" on that list.

Totally true. I've got longer chest hair and darker right in the middle of my chest...and a small trail leading down. Totally didn't think I'd get that, oorrrr even the darker (and I mean dark) hair on my arms and shoulders. I stink so much more now :P

As for me, back to needing to lose frickin 30 lbs again.

Do you have to be of a certain weight to get T? I worry about this because I am significantly overweight and it's a genetic problem that my family has. It's Gosh darned near impossible to lose weight.

Well, I'm only 15, and I needa be at at the most 180 lbs before my doctor gives me the ok.

It sucks, cuz even me knowing I'll get T and be healthier and get a nice body and whatever isn't enough to get me going on this.

I don't see the reason they are making you do that, but if it gets you the T letter then I guess you should just "play ball", so to speak. I've been trying to lose weight too, mostly in preparation for chest surgery. For the longest, I'd bust butt doing cardio (running, rowing machine, etc...). All that stuff helped, but what really worked for me was weight lifting. This has been true for others I've talked to as well. The more lean muscle you have, the more calories you burn at rest.

For me, it is easier to get motivated to lift weights. It's also fun to see that you are getting stronger! :D

Dude, get Body For Life by Bill Phillips. Drool over the pics, or ignore them. Either way though the book is hugely inspirational and motivational and gets you on the right track starting from WHERE YOU ARE PHYSICALLY. It's not for muscleheads but for the average Joe and doesn't require expensive equipment OR supplements or anything. You can do it at home in 20-45 minutes a day, so no flopping tumors to expose to the neighbors.

PLUS, it really works. I've done it in the past and I"m doing it now (on week 2). Plus there is online support at bodyforlife.com in the guestbook. I can't say enough good things about it.

If your parents have or will buy a gym membership, just use the elliptical machine. It doesn't jar the tumors as much. My tumors are large and unruly, so I know about these things.

Also, my friends are saying good things about Wii Fit. I'm a DDR man myself. At one point I lost about 20 pounds because I was obsessed with DDR before I got obsessed with Guitar Hero. BTW, Guitar Hero will not help with weight loss...quite the opposite.

I wouldn't go running in my neighborhood either. I feel ya bro.

This is fantastic, We're adding a Boxer to our family sometime this evening or tomorrow. His name is Parker. We'll be crate training him as well as introducing him to two cats that have never been around a dog.   Pictures to follow later,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I still don't understand how any queer people can vote for these people.  I'll just leave it at that.

Thanks Kathy!    Some place where the peer pressure is to dress more feminine instead of less.  Imagine that. I haven't left the house in fem clothing since an outing to a local LGBT club over 15 years ago.   She's also pointed me to some support groups so that's next as well.     And for those who noticed, yes, I committed a rather egregious grammatical error in my post, but I couldn't figure out how to edit it.  That stuff bugs me to death. Geez Louise .

Just more of the same.  Unfortunately, I'm coming to expect it.

Everybody doesn't feel this way. As a AMAB child (in the 50's) I don't think I questioned my body, but I was quite fascinated with girl stuff.  When puberty hit I really wished I was a girl - but alas - I was stuck living as a guy.  As an adult I had pretty bad  homophobia, which was probably internalized transphobia, but I didn't really know what transgender was at the time.  And by then I was locked into a marriage and family. I lived like that for most of my life, and convinced myself (but not my wife) that I was happy.  When we were in our 60's, the marriage fell apart.  And I believe a large part of that was me resisting my feminine self.  When I no longer had to live up to being a man, I dared to take another peek inside, and my egg cracked big time. I still don't think I was "born in the wrong body."  Maybe it just needed a little tweaking. I think our "gender" is an internal thing.   I don't regret having lived so long trying to be a guy.  But if I could have transitioned as a child it would have been awesome.

Said it is possibly ptsd and anxiety, wants a second opinion.

@Adrianna DanielleSeeing two different therapist for separate issues really helped me deal with the each of them on different levels. I hope this works for you too.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

It was not that long ago that black people were banned from the University of Mississippi.  Schools were segregated and the same excuse of protecting the women (or girls) of old miss.  Times and many feeling have changed with time and federal intervention.  Unfortunately politicians love to separate and divide to gain power.     Hugs,   Charlize

I agree @Birdieto just "fit in", is what drove us to therapy. I'm not fitting in just to please someone with a closed mind. At least you know who your fair weather friends are now.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Yesterday in the lobby some of the residents were talking with me. One asked, "how come in all the TV commercials at the centre you don't appear in any of them?"   I explained that, "I'm an embarrassment to the centre and they don't know what to do with me." I get edited out!   Quite the differing options with the ladies at the table as some of them said, "that's discrimination", while others said, "they can see why."   Another lady said, "you would fair better if you cut your hair and went back to overalls, you should strive to fit in!"   Their opinions are as meaningful to me as rubbish. I did 45 years of trying to "fit in", and not doing that again. 😉
