What are the differences between the natural vs man-made hormone 'cause the area I live

in has alot of natural healers and herbalist's.

{ Note: I take it this site follows US law, but, what about International Law and techniques

used with the rest of the world.}

I follow the eastern medicine Body/Mind unit where I can have as much as I wish or

comprend. I am ok with physco-babble, My uncle was one, so I know the routine, but what my concerns are, now I confirmed my decision to go ahead with the MTF is what

natural method choices I have here. If not legal here, where can I go.

I am not sure this would a good topic for those who are unsure, so I am asking here cause

on Sat,19 March '11 I will be attending my First FireWomyn comunity get together here, and if possible gain some knowledge from those that have it.

PS: I have looked and not found

Symantaka,

Ther are plant based phytoestrogens that can have some effects on the body. Their efficacy in creating the changes desired have never been studied to show what is the most effective and how much one is able to take. We do however have women who tried these methods and caused great harm to their livers. I can only say to procceed with caution and since I don't know where to find real answers I would not be able to take them myself. Remember it has only been through modern science in the last 80 years that we have been able to make the transition. To do it using the old ways would require an orchiectomy at the very least. And it is doubtful you will be able to find a surgeon willing to do one in the US before 1 year of RLT.

I am not anti homeopathy in the least. I do however see that it has limitations just as any other field of medicine and to deny the y exist is just as foolish as believing modern medicine has the cure for everything.

I view natural vs man made hormones as this, natural means the same as what the human body produces naturally, Estradiol is one example of a natural hormone, even though it is manufactured, it makes fewer passes through the liver which is easier on the liver and there are less chances for blood clots (DVT), Premarin is one example of what i call man made as it is made from the urine of pregnant mares and makes many passes through the liver and thus a greater risk for liver and DVT issues.

Some try supplements, in my opinion and others, those are a waste of time and dangerous because of the high dosages that have to be taken, most do not gain anything from them, you also have a high risk for health problems and you pay allot, might as well do things the right way.

the big difference between man made and natural hrt is effectivness. when i think of natural versus man made . nuclear weapons come to mind . herbal hrt , would be the 15 tons of tnt . as were the man made hrt . is the nuclear device that packs those 15 tons of tnt down into . a smaller more accurate , and powerful package . its why i often refer to prescribed hrt as " weaponsgrade " hrt

another problem with herbals is from one pill to the next you don't know. if you are getting . 15 tons of tnt or 3 . the actual dose of estrogen vaires that wildly for one pill to the next . so your not maintain a theraputic dose consitantly. not to mention all the other junk that goes into those pills. a prescribed estrogen pill is the exact same amount every single time. and the rest of it is just sugar

and then you cant even really call herbals, hrt. because you are not replacing anything with them . you are simply dumping estrogen . in with the testosterone . and the testosterone will win that battle every time . drop for drop testosterone is the far more potent growth hormone . its why ftms don't need a estrogen blocker when they start taking T it just over rides thier natural estrogen production. its why our hrt is a 2 step process estrogen and testosterone blockers . it pushs the t outta the way to make room for the e to do its thang .

i am anti natural hrt . simply because they don't really work . its mostly a pocebo effect. i think. i had been on hrt 6 years, and had to stop , for an unemportant reason. i wont get into here. with in 2 weeks my estrogen levels crashed hot flashs . spontaniouse erections . the whole nine yards , was on them nearly 3 months before getting back on weapons grade hrt . and it fixed the problem with in a few days .

sorry didn't mean to get long winded . you can ask any endo , and get roughly the same explination as the one. i have given. you need to speak to a endo before starting any way . good luck in what ever you decide to do though and be safe :)

Arsenic is a natural element. Cyanide is a natural compound. Personally I wouldn't take either of those into my body.

Natural is an extremely ambiguous term. It is a term with roots in marketing that are intended to make the product sound healthy.

Estradiol is one example of a natural hormone, even though it is manufactured, it makes fewer passes through the liver which is easier on the liver and there are less chances for blood clots (DVT), Premarin is one example of what i call man made as it is made from the urine of pregnant mares

Well since Premarin is created through natural process, wouldn't that be more "natural" and estradiol which is symthized chemically? I looked into why there was no generic premarin and found out it was because premarin, naturally produced by the horse's body, contains many different estrogens, some of which are in trace amounts. Since it is not economically feisable to produce all those different estrogens in the correct porportions in a way other than extracting from mare urine, no company has bothered. Instead the they produce the major component (Estradiol) which they can do cheaper.

That doesn't mean that one is better than the other. Odds are that Premarin, since it comes from horses isn't the same as what the humans have, but neither is Estradiol truely the same.

Also, as far as trouble with liver, far as I know oral Estradiol will will have to process twice just like Estrogen. If you get the Estradiol in patches or injectibles its a different story.

It is also arguable that phytoestrogens (plant estrogens) are natural and in fact since these often are sold as food supplements, the term natural is almost certain applied since there are few restrictions.

There is also another marketing originated buzzword out there. That is "bioidentical". This gives the impression that it is the same as what is in the body. This is not necessarily the case. The term originated with alternative medicine to give the impression of what they are offering as being safer.

My point is, that these terms are ill defined. Even by the responses here the understanding differs widely.

Please rely on your medical professionals, your doctor for guiding you in your decisions. While many (including myself) have researched much of this, we are not professionals and don't have the knowledge nor experience to understand what information out there is good and what is bad.

Happiness to me is when I reached a turning point in my life, that I stop worrying what others think about me, and start living my life.

Good afternoon everyone,   I often wondered why @April Marie and @Willowgot up so early in spite of being retired. Now that I have my own puppy as a house pet I get it. We haven't had dogs since before my oldest granddaughter was born 22 years ago this September. I've always had working hunting dogs, and it was important they became acclimated to the current weather conditions. While the kennels had large outdoor runways, they also had pet passes into the somewhat temperature controlled garage. Yes, they were allowed in the house but only for short periods of time. Fast forward to present time, and I'm potty training a puppy as well as crate training. The first night Parker Von Schwinegruber, slept from 10:30 until 05:30. Last night we went to bed and 10:30 and he started making noise at 05:00. Since I don't want to test his ability to hold his business, we got up and went outside. He took care of business and we went back to sleep. This time he had a dental chew bar and I filled his water bowl. We cat napped until 08:00 and then got up for the day taking him immediately outside. He took care of business, and we played fetch and tug of war with his now favorite puffball. We came in and I put him back in the crate positioned so he could see me cook breakfast. Did he NO HE WENT TO SLEEP! We ate breakfast, did the dishes, and finished off the pot of coffee I brewed at 08:00. Once he woke up we stared at one another for about 20 minutes, because he seemed content to be in the crate. I got up and we worked on some obedience training as well as getting into and out of the crate with permission. We don't want him to crash the gate or any doors we will be going through.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I have not heard about it here in California, but then again we have events of various sorts going on very often, and not just in the June Pride Month.  We have Trans Fashion Week going on at a hotel complex over in West Los Angeles for the next three nights featuring shows by Trans fashion designers and modeled by Trans and NB people on the runways there.  I missed a chance for some free tickets and while I know and love many of the participants I do not want to pay for the tickets which will be in the $50 to $75 range, and which at those prices are nearly sold out.  (Not to mention $25 valet parking each night at the venue complex.).  There will be actual high end fashion buyers there though and it is an area where we are gaining some good footing.  I also admit that NONE of the fashions are going to be anything at all that would fit my basic personal style but look fine if not crazy on my much younger Trans siblings who will model them. (Ok everyone else keep on @Mirrabooka's topic.)

Welcome to TransPulseForums @gizgizgizzie    I hope you find this place as helpful as I do. I’m also in a slow transition living in the androgynous world. I’m out to my grown children and my extended family with mixed support from them. Some have cut me out of their lives and others want me to be their flamboyant family member.    Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!
    • Ivy
True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.
