A Good Girdle Is A Girl's Best Friend

Hi Ladies,

I have been working out like crazy since last summer, I walk 5 per day religiously and do a host of other toning exercises to feminize my body as much as possible (pre HRT). I have lost over 30 lbs since last summer, and feel great. I am 6' 4" weigh 210 and currently measure 42(a), 36, 43. However it's been a real struggle to loose that little extra bit in the middle that I feel has been bothering me. I have been researching corsets, however I thought I would try a girdle first. I researched several models, and decided on the Rago 6109. This unit feels good even after several hours with it on. I have gone about my business about the house today doing laundry, bending over to clean, with no issues, it stays put ! It appears to give me just enough shaping for a flatter upper abdominal presentation (just under bust), it adds support to the back, and I am happy what it has done to my waist. I ordered the size XL, which when looking at size chart said for 32" waist, so I knew it would be a little tight, but it fit great and pulls me in just enough. When I look in the mirror, nice ! For $32 it's doing a great job. It's made in the USA, which rocks !

I am 6'1 3/4" 207 pounds - 40 B cup - 38 waist - 42 rear

We are similar sized. The HRT though has moved some weight distribution around - I sometimes wear a shaper - and that tucks well. Girdles are too constricting for me but that is a personal choice. I usually don't even wear the shaper unless it is for a slinky dress. Brand name - SPANX, I like the high rise.

Hi Cindy,

I've been wearing a similar item but it includes a bra too. Keeps everything in the right place much better: Regular bras slide right up my flat chest, and of course, it's the coup-de-grace for tucking! Luckily we don't have 85-degree nights here - they could be a bit warm if we have a summer this year...

Love, Kat

Amen, sister! :)

Rago makes great shapewear! I've had my eye on one of their all-in-one pieces for awhile. I just haven't bothered to get it because I'm in love with my VaBien all-in-one shapewear. It, too, holds everything in place and I almost feel like it's my "body armor" that I put on every day to face the day. lol!

I've tried high waisted girdles before and because I have a little more of a tummy, they always rolled down. I also noticed on that site the item you linked had a split panty panel. How are you able to keep things tucked away with that?

The all-in-one I swear by has a hook and eye closure area where you kind of have to be a contortionist at first to get it unhooked and then rehooked once you're done but after a few tries you get the system down and it's only mildly annoying but worth it for the figure it gives you.

I love my shapewear. :)

Hi Lizzie, I don't know what they meant by that comment "split panty panel", as mine has a solid crotch just like a panty, tucking is not a problem, and is ummm quite firm

Hi Lizzie, I don't know what they meant by that comment "split panty panel",

I do!! Like I said, I know my shapewear. lol

A split panty panel means instead of having that area be one solid piece, or having what I call "the hatch" that is secured by hook-and-eye closures, a split panty panel is simply that: it's two pieces of soft fabric that usually overlap each other, but when you sit down the two halves separate so you can go #1 or #2. Shapewear with a split panty is meant to be worn without panties underneath, since there would be no way to pull them down to use the bathroom. You can, of course, wear panties over it if you'd like but there's really no need to.

This is what I wear and swear by.

I love it. It keeps everything in place. It's comfortable to wear all day. I swear it takes you down a pant size and at the end of the day I don't want to take it off. Since it's firm control it can be a little struggle to get it on the first couple times but once you're in...you're in!

it's no coincidence that this is the same shapewear that my mom has worn for decades. I don't mind the frumpy look of it, as noone sees it but me. It's also very good at keeping you tucked.

For the descriptions Lizzie ! :ThanxSmiley:

I suppose I could have been a little clearer in my comment as I meant the Rago 6109 I received did not have the split panel as the website picture at Her room indicates in the beige color. The one I ordered was white, solid crotch. Tucking is not an issue with this model

Fantastic on your Va Bien bodysuit, nice ! They make some really nice things.

I happen to have one by Maidenform. That unit does have the hook eye crotch, and it's quite firm. I don't like under wires however, so I took them out.

VaBien and Ragu have been making shapewear for a long time. I think they're both based in France, too. Ragu has a more retro look to their pieces, which I love! The one I have is also wire-free. They're constructed well enough where a wire isn't necessary, as I've had no support problems with them at all.

I also have the same VaBien piece that I wear in a long-leg version, too. I haven't had a chance to wear it for a day to test it out. I did try it on, and it's one of those you can't wear underwear underneath it and I'm not 100% comfortable with how it would hold my tuck so I'm hesitant to wear it for a regular day. You also have to hold the hatch when you're in the bathroom, else it could dip into the toilet water. Yuck...

Reason for edit: There is a question in the administrative forum on if the postings with links showing underwear is in violation of the terms and conditions - I am approving links when it refers to merchandise that would be seen in any JC Penneys Catalog

Yikes. I totally forgot about that, Lizzie. :( Thank you for understanding our intent with the thread.

I'll second that, my bad, sorry for my mistake in posting links to these products that did contain pictures. It was certainly was not my intent to show offensive material only to provide a product reference.

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!

Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬

I'm not a nutritionist but I've gone on bulking diets in the past so I can suggest a couple things to try. Foremost, food-prep stuff that you like to eat. Any 'real food' that usually sounds good to you. That way, you don't have the time-sink or hassle of cooking for every meal. You're more likely to eat if stuff if it's convenient and mostly ready. For example, I'll spend an hour or so one evening prepping burrito ingredients that will last me the next 3 nights. Then it's just a matter of microwaving the beef/beans and throwing them into a tortilla; takes 5 min.   If you need food 'on the go' often, consider prepping smoothies in advance pre-separated out into individual containers. I personally like low-no fat yogurt blended with fruit and, here's the weird part, those water flavor drops. They add sweetness without dumping in excess sugar. Insulated containers will keep them reasonably fresh non-refridgerated all day so they can even be tossed into a backpack.    Hope of those sparked some ideas!
