Bathroom Experiences While Trying To Pass

Ok, so this last week I was on a business trip in another state. Prior to the trip I went to a barber and he gave me a nice man haircut I believe is the flat top if I am not mistaken. So now that I am dressing like a guy plus this haircut alot of people think I am a man (good for me) until either they hear me talk or they see my chest.

Anyway, while I was at the Miami airport I went to the ladies bathroom and as I was coming out, this woman just looked at me in horror. I think she thought "what is this man doing in the women's bathroom?". Of course I was smiling and giggling inside.

Of course during the trip I had a lot of "Sir....".

Then, as I was coming back to Miami, I went again to the ladies bathroom at the airport and as I was washing my hands this woman yells. "SIR!!!". LOL

I turned towards her and I guess she saw my chest and said "Oh Sorry". LOL

I was all smiling and laughing inside. Woot! It just feels great to pass at least for some instances before going on "T". My gay male friend says to just use the men's bathroom, which I did a couple of times with him. But since my chest is still noticible I am not sure if I want to do that. I might get myself a binder, right now I am using a "Frog Bra". But I think a binder would be a little better.

Anyway, I wanted to share my bathroom experiences pre-T and see if you guys and ladies have some others to share.

I used to use male toilets even pre-T. There was no way I could use the ladies, I look way too masculine. I have quite a big chest, and I have never bound it. I just find it too hot and uncomfortable. Just try wearing baggy shirts and stuff like that. Lots of guys have man boobs anyway. I would use the guys toilet if I was you. You look to me like you pass really well, and your experiences last week prove it. x

i agree with Segei, you look very masculine and would probably have very few problems in the men's room. guys don't tend to look at each other in public washrooms, and i've seen genetic guys who could have been a B or a C cup.

Jantonio....... Go ahead and use the men's room. When I use the men's room at work, I always use the stall even if it is just to pee. You will find that men's room are no way as crowded as a women's room. I am a MtF CDer and when I am out dressed, I always use the Ladies Room when I need to go. I even had to wait in line once and no one said "swat" to me. I just went in, used a stall, did what I had to do, checked myself at the mirror, and left.

Lookin' good! You pass very well pre-T. I'm jealous.

My therapist says that it's much easier to get by in the men's room when you are close to passing. I have noticed that women scrutinize everyone and men don't usually look. I'm in an awkward place myself. The other night I was out playing pool with one of my friends and got some dirty looks when I used the ladies room. It's kind of like I don't fit in with either restroom!

Before I transitioned I stopped going out because I could never use the ladies toilet, and it hadn't occured to me to use the mens. I lost a lot of years of my life because of toilets. It all seems so silly now. lol Men really don't care.

Thanks guys and ladies for the compliments. :)

I spoke with my therapyst today and he said that I am passable and that I should start using the men's bathroom. He said that in the men's room nobody looks at you, I should just go into the stall and should be no problem.

I don't really have anything to share except that that made me laugh out loud. (And I would use guy's bathrooms if I wasn't so much of a chicken. My first time I'll probably need a male friend to accompany me. :P)

Excellent story, and an excellent photo as well.

A share story? Here's one and all participants were and are still pre-T.

It was several years ago now, not long before I got married (we're since divorced) and a friend of mine and myself were havin a "dudes night out" goin' to a baseball game. At a certain point we went to the restroom and not having ever discussed it went into the ladies. A woman who was already in there not only freaked out, she chased us both out, waved her friend over ala "back up", and simultaneously yelled for a security person.

We were both so stunned and caught off guard I think we did more "looking to the left and right" than anything and standing bulge eyed and dropped jawed while we got "reported".

Hilarious as the whole thing sounds now, I think at the time Iwas truely scared we were gonna get arrested or something but I think as the situation went along the guard figured out no rule technically had gotten broken.

And no matter WHAT the detractors say I would still rather pass that be "ma'am"-ed. Its as balm for the soul.

There's no doubt that passing in the bathroom is the toughest test.

Cramped quarters, surrounded by the gender you're wanting to switch too, everyone gets a nice close up look...and if you're busted, you can be arrested.

It's the one place that worries me.

I've been told that to get through it, act like you belong there. Don't daudle. Go in, pick a stall, do your business and leave.

Wow that sucks :o I've found that in really gross public toilets people pay way less attention to me because they're just desperate to leave as soon as possible  So I guess that almost makes up for how minging they are.

Oh and you look great btw B)

To give you an idea of just how little men look at each other in the bathroom, I once accidentally went into the woman's bathroom at a movie theater. A movie just let out, so it was packed. I walked all the way in, just realizing my error when there were no urinals. I looked around, notice I was surrounded by ladies, said, "Ooops, excuse me ladies..." and walked over to the other bathroom.. Strange :P They were all just looking at me O_O

Besides, if we're peeing we're facing a wall :P If someone comes to pee next to us, we focus straight ahead. At least I do... I don't want to see any of his junk XD

So use the mens bathroom to your hearts content. I doubt anyone will notice, and if they do... they won't say anything :P Remember, if they do see you, it's either at the sink washing your hands or as you walk past them entering or leaving. Just quick glances.

lol Daru sounds like fun ;)

the one time I've used a guys' bathroom, I made sure to go when my friend was, so I could walk in with him so that it 'legitimized' it in my mind... I just walked in like I obviously belonged there (while simultanously developing tunnel vision lol) and got a stall really quick. I was kind of scared when I opened the door and saw a long line had formed, so everyone was looking at me, but I took the time to wash my hands and try to find a stocked paper towel dispenser (couldn't) because I knew if I bolted, it would just make everyone suspicious.

I think it's really helpful to have a friend, because it just sort of feels like if you're walking in with him, you have to be a guy... and confidence is key. If you're scared or acting like you've never seen urinals before, you're a lot easier to bust than someone who walks in like he knows exactly what he's doing, even if he's not a perfect pass.

I couldn't imagine using a female restroom when I'm passable or even just close, it's uncomfortable enough with the gigantic signs proclaiming "girl, look it's a girl, woo-hoo- lady coming through, she's a girl, nothing to see here- girl in girls' restroom" that pretty much rest on my chest when I'm not binding. Not to mention, it's true that girls notice so much more than guys do, so I think when in doubt, use the guys' room.

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!

Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬

I'm not a nutritionist but I've gone on bulking diets in the past so I can suggest a couple things to try. Foremost, food-prep stuff that you like to eat. Any 'real food' that usually sounds good to you. That way, you don't have the time-sink or hassle of cooking for every meal. You're more likely to eat if stuff if it's convenient and mostly ready. For example, I'll spend an hour or so one evening prepping burrito ingredients that will last me the next 3 nights. Then it's just a matter of microwaving the beef/beans and throwing them into a tortilla; takes 5 min.   If you need food 'on the go' often, consider prepping smoothies in advance pre-separated out into individual containers. I personally like low-no fat yogurt blended with fruit and, here's the weird part, those water flavor drops. They add sweetness without dumping in excess sugar. Insulated containers will keep them reasonably fresh non-refridgerated all day so they can even be tossed into a backpack.    Hope of those sparked some ideas!
