Laser Hair Removal: Great Expierence Little Pain

Well,

I just got back from my first laser hair removal session. I had both of my legs done from top to bottom, and all of my face. (I go back in 4 weeks for my Face and Arms, then 4 weeks later for Face and Legs, etc. etc. until it's done). The doctor was really nice (as I've noticed most in the medical profession to be towards transsexuals) and we talked/joked the whole time. I found out he plays piano, and he loves 60's "hippy" rock, so he's kicking around maybe jamming with us sometime...so that was a nice little extra. Anyway, for those of you worried about pain etc...it doesn't hurt at all...well a little. No more than a tattoo, and for sure not anymore than waxing (I don't know why but I've always found waxing to be very painful...). The worst spot is your upper lip, I teared up a little but nothing too bad. So...don't worry about the laser...its your friend! ;)

Three more sessions then I should never have to shave my face again...that's such a great feeling!!

Peace, love, and health,

Alice

Cool! I've had IPL laser hair removal on my upper lip and chin (the only places that I really needed it, luckily). The beauty therapist was about my age, and we were able to talk and get to know each other during the sessions, which kinda eased my nerves. You're right about the pain - it barely hurts at all! I jumped a little when the laser hit my upper hit, but that was about as bad as it got. And since I'm very pale skinned, the therapist was able to increase the intensity of the laser without risk of scarring, so I think I needed less sessions than I otherwise would have. :)

There's a place here in town that does that, and I've talked to them on the phone. I was curious. I shave a couple of times a day which is ridiculous and leaves my skin in terrible shape, but I prefer the hassle of that to having facial hair and have for a long time.

I was hoping when I called that they would be able to tell me roughly what it would cost, but they said they'd have to consult. The consultation is free, so I'll probably do that sometime, but its hard to get motivated, because once I find out what it costs, I am sure I won't be able to persue it for a loooong time, especially with therapy starting up again tomorrow.

They also told me that if your hair is too light the laser won't work. I have red hair, and my facial hair is pretty light, so I've worried that they'll just tell me that they can't do it at all. Blah. That would be horrible.

Anyway, its good to hear that its not too painful. I've got a couple of tattoos, so if its not worse than that I can take it ::laughs::

*puts hands around chin* ....

...

I think I need to find a new laser doctor :-\

I went through 4 treatments already, but it's still there :C I suppose I gotta finish them off w/ electrology... :)

Glad to hear it's not that painful for you. It hurts a lot for me since I never did things like tattooing...it hurts so much that I usually end up smiling and start laughing. (after about 20 min. of lasering).

Either way, it's different for anybody..and even if it does end up feeling painful like it is for me, it's waaaay~ worth it. ;)

Isobelle Fox........there is suppose to be a new lazer that combines RF Energy with it and is suppose to work on blone hair, grey hair, white hair, and red hair.

That's great that its not that painful. Honestly though my fear with lazer removal is I have always heard it doesn't work and for facial hair you have to do the electrolisys.

Maybe I will check out the local lazer spa's I have pretty dark hair and to get it removed in four sessions vs hundreds of hours would be great news. I am so sick of shaving just one more reminder of who I am not. :)

Love yall

From what I was told during my consultation, laser treatment won't work properly if you have dark skin or very light hair. So if you're pale-skinned and dark-haired like me, it should be pretty successful. :)

Alice I could hug you for bringing up this topic! I am getting my first session (the whole removal a birthday present from my mom) in September and have been very nervous about it. My best friend got it done and said it was horrible, but to be honest she has a very low threshold for pain so I always wondered. You relieved me to a degree and I thank you. *hugs*

I had that going on with my last two partners who were 20 years older than me.  One of them looked older for her age as well.  I remember a couple times being in the grocery store a decade ago and having people ask "can I help you ladies with something?" and then I'd turn around with my red beard.  Well before I started transitioning, but my partner knew I was trans back then.   I struggle with this as well.  My music and political career can have a masculine edge to it that I don't like.  It's been really frustrating lately.  I don't like pushing myself on others or telling people what to do.  I've been running a website for 25 years and have virtually never tried to promote it or even look at any analytics.  I don't want to push it on anyone.  I put what I have on it and make it publicly available.  It's part of my production process.  It keeps me sane and if someone else can find it useful, then I'm happy to share.

I'm curious, but then if I am true to myself, I have a hard time being in crowds.  I love hearing great music, but being in an audience is such a turnoff for me that I don't go to concerts or bars.  I'm just very much a producer.  I actually like doing the dishes more than going to concerts because it's an active thing.

My therapist is trying a new tact. I've named my self protection self that ssays not eating or too much exercise because when I starting because oftrauma my protective self started and also at the time the name Shay came to me and is now part of my name.  It's not like having a split personality, just my primative self protection who is always there to help me. My therapist has Shay, me and him working as a team to assure her that I am safe and to start changing her role in my life so I protect me by eating right and exercising to maintain a heathy body. It is helping a little but we just started this a few weeks ago.

Good morning, everyone!!   Yesterday was lawn mower battery day. I've been nursing the battery on my Zero Turn mower for two weeks. It gave up the ghost when I stopped to refuel yesterday so I had to run over to the local shop to get a new one. And forgot my wallet so I had to drive home and back again.   Then, I was using the garden tractor with the bagger to pick up the clippings. I cut about 7 acres so it took me awhile. When I was done, I went to refuel it and, of course, it wouldn't start when I'd finished putting in the gas. I'm hoping it was just some corrosion on the cables - cleaned them up, gave it a quick charge and it started right up. We'll see if it will hold a charge now or turn out like the Zero Turn.   House cleaning day today. And then I'm going to just relax outside for a bit and enjoy one more warm day before our temps drop and rain comes in for the weekend.   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!

Striking your head against the wall, you can lose 150 calories an hour. Blue color attracts mosquitoes in two times more than any other. Most toilet paper sold for home use in France is pink. In 2014, a missing woman on a vacation in Iceland was found when it was discovered that she was in the search party looking for herself. In 2005, Mark Zuckerberg unsuccessfully tried to sell Facebook for $75 million. Back then it was called TheFacebook. Strawberries can also be white or yellow, and some can even taste like pineapples! The Boston Marathon didn’t allow female runners until 1972. Banks have therapists known as ‘wealth psychologist’ who help ultra-rich clients, who are unable to mentally cope with their immense wealth.

I attend a medical day-centre in Texas for needed medical services. It's religious oriented, so not gender fluid friendly. I of course dress 100% in female attire yet androgynous to keep both "them happy", and I really don't mind.    I of course am imposed rules that no other participant is bound by. The examples are the allowed size of my backpack, or how many visits per day I can see my Representative payee.  The gender neutral restroom use was a compromise that all off us have agreed to.  Not being able to wear tanks tops or shorts that aren't "Bermuda length" are other examples of where I am restricted more than any other participant. "Bra talk" is strictly forbidden, even though their doctor and occupational therapist were the ones that told me I needed support due to neck pain.    I found myself being reprimanded by staff three times yesterday for very petty details, and they have constantly pushed for me to remove myself from the program voluntarily. I am of course someone not welcomed in the program, but federal discrimination laws prevent them from removing me. They instead are just making life miserable with the hopes that I will leave on my own.
