Breaking Up My Shoulders

Hi all.

Have any of you gals have any advice on how to break up my shoulders?

I have a wide chest and broad shoulders and looking for some tops and jackets that can hide these or just disguise them a bit.

Vee neck blouses - also 'man tailored' tops (collar and button down - left open the first two or three buttons). Blouses with the shirt tails left out (elongates the body)- solid colors - avoiding prints.

Necklaces (pendant type). Dangling earrings - longer hair worn down over the shoulders.

I feel your pain. Personally, I avoid things with thin straps. It just exposes too much skin with my broad shoulders. So if I do wear something with straps it needs to have wide straps. No padded shoulders, I already have issues with my shoulders so I can't see enhancing an area that I already view as being problematic.

And I tend to avoid light solid colors. If I wear white or pink, well, from the back it looks wide enough to ski on. Although I like pink, a field full of that isn't exactly pretty when it's between my shoulders. So I either look for some kind of pattern in the material or else pleating to break it up. Layering helps too, at least from the front view. Having a camisole or tank of one color and then an outer top of a different color breaks it up a bit which can be helpful.

Also, you might want to avoid sweaters/jackets/Cardigans with a straight shoulder hem,it tends to square out your shoulders. Its kinda hard to explain but there are different ways sleeves are sewn on, some can give a more rounded appearance rounded and of course anything with shoulder pads is a no no. Embellished jeans are good, even distressed look will help, you also might consider using color too, lighter colors on bottom, darker colors on top. Its kinda like the theory behind make up, emphasize what you want, de-emphasize what you don't want.

Women have different body shapes and there are sites to learn how to identify what shape you have and what is good and bad to wear for your shape.

There are also books - I have had a few but they didn't survive my move, and I don't recall the titles.

I do remember it is we tall and square bodied girls who best wear large 'clunky' jewelry.

You may want to research this.
