I'LL BE SEEING A GENDER THERAPIST SOON, AND I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT KINDA QUESTIONS HE/SHE WILL ASK. AND HOW UNCOUNTABLE IS IT.

MY FIRST FEAR IS JUST IN THE WAITING ROOM. I PANIC EASY,EPICALLY AROUND PEOPLE. IF OVER 3 1 OR 2 PEOPLE, I'M IN ANGUISH (PANIC DISORDER FOR 18YRS).

I WAS TOLD THE FIRST SESSION WILL BE 20 MINUTES.

WHAT COULD THEY POSSIBLY FIND OUT IN 20 MINUTES

IM REALLY CURIOUS ON THE QUESTIONS, WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT ANSWERS.

IF SHE CAN FIND OUT A LOT IN 20 MINUTES THE YEA I AM SCARED. (WHO WOULDN'T BE)

HOW MANY SESSIONS BEFORE HRT STARTS. AND ABOUT HOW MANY TIMES A WEEK DOES A PERSON GO.

THE GENDER THERAPIST IS A (PHYCRIEST( SORRY CAN'T SPELL THAT WORD) AS WELL WILL I STILL NEED TO SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR.

WHO ALL WILL SHE TALK TO ABOUT MY CASE. (WILL SHE TALK TO MY FAMILY DOCTOR).

AS A GENERAL RULE HOW FRIENDLY ARE THEY.

A MILLION MORE QUESTIONS, BUT TIME DOESN'T ALLOW. THANKS

Maybe some basics, just to meet you and to tell you what to expect and perhaps what is expected of you. 20min does not sound like a session.

Almost always they will be friendly, that is part of what their business is about.

As far as questions, they aren't pass or fail questions. Just given the best honest answers you can give. It does no good to give answers you think they want to hear.

As far HRT, who knows. Standards say 3 months of therapy. For some that means one session a week for 12 weeks. For others it may be 3 sessions, but there are huge variances. Some theripists may be slower while others will give referral immediatly.

The therapist may want to talk to other of your doctors, therapist may not feel it needed. It depends on the therapist and you.

Your first visit is very likely to be a simple Hello I am so and so and you are whom? type of talk. Since the focus of your wokr with the therapist will be you and how you feel about yourself there really are no worng answers to any questions the therapist may have. Also your first meetig will be a great place for you to ask the therapist the questiont ah you have about the process, like how long unitl approval for hormones, etc.

In the United States you are protected by HIPA laws protecting your privacy so the therapist cannot discuss your case with anyone unless you have given express permission for them to do so.

Good luck mouse22. I am also going to see my GT for the first time on monday, nervous as hell and very apprehensive. My session will be about 1 and 1/2 hrs and lots of questions. unlike the States in the Uk I will have to do 3 months RLE before they will even consider hormone treatment which is something that feels me with dread at the moment.

How did other people feel about their first GT session, I feel a bit flat at the moment and am not sure why, though I know that for the first time in my life I feel really emotionally and mentally worn out.

My therapist is also a physicist, will i still have to see another doctor as well. for hrt

I think you mean that your therapist is psychiatrist (an MD), and in that case you may or may not need another MD to prescribe your medications for HRT. It all depends on what your psychiatrist is comfortable doing. Legally, a psychiatrist can prescribe HRT medications but they may not want to as it is not their area of expertise in medicine.

Honey....I think that most of us were nervous the very first time.....

There is nothing to worry about, though....there are no "trick" questions and it will all be very mundane....

Good luck and let us know how it goes...ok?

Everything went great. she was very kind. and helpful. I just hate having waiting to my next appointment. I wish the session's were longer.(it was a 1 hr session, not 20 min.)) It"s been so long sense i talked about my issues, and when i did no one could understand what i was going threw, but she did. That was and still is a great relief and help.she also has support groups, A major plus. So much support there. I just hate i waited so long.

THANKS

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.

Welcome to Lefty Land.... a festive theme park full of sparkles and unicorns, a perfect place except for one evil orange dragon wearing a blond wig.    I'm always amazed at the "flexibility" of definitions.  One person's f@scist seems like a centrist to others.  One person's "moderate" looks to others like the 2nd coming of Fidel Castro.  A normal marriage a century or two ago is now a criminal offense, and relationships that used to be a criminal offense are now open, normal marriages.  Pedophiles now want to be called "minor attracted persons" and teenagers are now defined as children.  A Republican in NY or CA would be a Democrat just about anywhere else.  I'm certainly no advocate for relativism, these are just observations.    What I find interesting about this Australian candidate is the attitude that he shouldn't be allowed to run for office.  Why?  Just because his views are different, or even offensive?  Who makes that determination?  Can an election really be open and fair if it is barred to candidates who are not "politically correct?"  Here in the USA, we can openly have candidates who are f@scist or any other thing they want to be, no real restrictions aside from eligibility requirements related to age, location, citizenship, and criminal record.

@Birdie You certainly have more patience than I do.  I don't take it well if I get scolded.  Either I sulk or I get nippish.    We had a good Mother's Day here yesterday.  Quite an event, since 4 of my partners are mothers.  GF enjoys it a lot, because she's very (excessively?) proud of having produced her 5 kids.  Her eldest starts school this fall.  Amazing how time flies...

Reminds me of elementary school when a kid yanked my chair as I was taking a seat. I told him to "go suck an egg" and we both got sent to the principals office. I was like, "tf did I do to deserve that?"

Firstly, it's nice to hear that your other half is now open to you living as you are!   Secondly, things I have noticed, having started shots just before the New Year: Tears do come much more easily I am far more tender with my wife and I like to snuggle more I have noticed anxiety has an increased effect on me I am on a weekly injection, so when I get near my next shot I have noticed feeling a little emotionally "blah" After shots I am much more energetic and bubbly Otherwise, I wouldn't say I've been on any kind of roller coaster of emotion and I'm far from unstable. So take heart and congratulations!

Three reprimands in a certain time frame? It seems like they should drop off the calendar after a period of time. How long can they hold a reprimand on the calendar?   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Congratulations on getting the go ahead with HRT. I'm so ready for my wife to drop her opposition. As for the mood swings... I would look forward to them myself.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Three reprimands and they suspend attendance for a couple weeks.
    • Mmindy
Good for the other participant. What's involved in a reprimand? At our age, what are they going to do? Withhold snacks...   @BirdieI'm sorry you have to put up with such discrimination's. I'm proud that you're standing up for yourself.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
