Tiki Smile

(Ok so its not quite poetry, but eh. I posted this on my facebook earlier, an excerpt from a book I'm writing. Unbeknownst to my editor as an out-cry of sorts.)

The dark waters wash over me...

''Come'' she says in her native tongue. An ebony goddess adorned with spiked gold and jewels. Stretching her elegant thin arms out to me, she smiles, and says once again. ''Come''.

I hold her hand and follow her, crossing an arch surrounded by Tiki, stopping at the smiles that they share, she looks at me, offers her own and says once again to me ''Come''.

It is the woman calling out to you to come over to womanhood. She is helping you along the path. At least that is what I get out of it.

I dunno if this was intentional or if you looked into the symbol of Tiki but:

Tiki was respected as the teacher of all things and the wearer of this symbol is therefore seen to possess clarity of thought, loyalty, great inner knowledge and strength of character.

She wanted you to dwell amongst the Tiki and share in their traits. I also like the choice of symbol because it fosters a mentally of ancestral reverence that is something that jives with me. I read it as Sarah did but with the addendum that she is not only inviting you over to womanhood but beseeching you to revere the Tiki, the ancestors who have done the same.
