Hrt Medication Question

Heys girls!

This is my first post, I generally find info based on other people but this one is a little most specific so I thought I would ask everyone that is in some stage of HRT. I just got my script and was wondering if this is an acceptable dosage, perhaps it is so low (or at least I perceive it to be) because I am just starting HRT? Yesterday when I went in to get my script my therapist had not yet got my letter to my doctor, who is also FTM, so she was unable to write me a script for hormones. She did however write me a script for **mg (I think it’s mg, I left it at home) of spiro. Today my letter did get in so I called and they sent my script for Estradiol to the pharmacy. When I picked it up it was for *mg. Furthermore she recommended letting them dissolve under my tongue as this is supposed to somewhat bypass the liver by letting it absorb into your bloodstream. I did express concern about taking estrogen orally because of the impact it can have on liver function in the longterm. I can’t find any info about this doing that though and the pharmacist seemed to think there was no difference between letting them dissolve under your tongue and swallowing them. Does this dosage seem really low? I’m interested in what you girls have to say as I kinda feel like something is amiss, maybe it’s because I scrutinize everything I am told.

Thanks for any help or advice. I’m also interested in what you all started out on.

Here’s to becoming the girl I am!

Hello Denna,

Welcome to Laura's Playground. :) I'm sorry but we cannot discuss hormone dosages. Dosages vary widely from person to person. What might be ok for one person might be a lethal dose to another. Dissolving them under the tongue is a popular means of taking what you were prescribed. Trust your doctor. He knows what's best for you according to the tests you had.

Denna, my Rx also says take it "sublingually." I have heard from others that letting it dissolve does help its absorption. It certainly couldn't hurt, and they taste pretty good. Congrats on starting HRT! That's a really big deal.

When you get around to it, please do post an introduction so we get to learn a little more about you. Thanks, and welcome to the Playground.

From what I've heard it is common to start people out on the lowest reasonable dose and gradually increasing based on blood test results. This may be what your Dr is doing. Just ask them about it next time.

@MaeBe, Good luck and best wishes on the new start in the Great Northwest. I don’t know a parent that didn’t call out their kids for being drunk or high as rebellious teenagers. I just told my teens that they can’t kid a kidder, and I was a teenager early 1970s we could drink legally at 18 so I have tons of experience spotting drunk kids.    As for the poetry, I liked it.  We never have enough support bras or tee shirts in the rotation.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Oh my @KymmieL, I’m sorry you’re on the job hunt again. They didn’t seem to be a good fit for you anyway. You deserve to be treated fairly and not undermined by competing owners who don’t communicate well.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Greetings everyone,   This is my introduction, I'm old and like donuts!  Let's see, what else...   I started my transition VERY recently, 5/17, after feeling like I've been uncomfortable doing it for like 20 years.  I lived in states where LGBT rights are strained, and have recently moved to a more friendly state.  I'm short, like gardening and crafts and rain.  Still a huge mixture of nervous, scared, excited and elated to finally be in a position where I can start.  I'm kind of easily excited, have the attention span of a humming bird does that to one, and usually medicate that with video games.  Not much else about me for now.  Started exercising so I can get my weight down as part of the transformation.  Still, I joined as I have questions and wanted to be with like minded folks.   Also, love trading recipes.
