Wearing A Synthetic Wig In Direct Sun

Hi Everyone!

This is something that has bothered me for a long time. I plan to move to Phoenix Arizona in a couple years, but I wear kanekalon synthetic wigs.

I dont do human hair, and am a Die Hard kanekalon fan. However, I spend alot of time outdoors. I am not afraid to get hot and sweaty, but I am concerned if my wig will hold up in the sun. Question- 100 degree day, sunny and no clouds, with little to no wind to cool wig down. Will heat

from the direct sun ruin my kanekalon wig? Does anyone have any luck wearing s synthetic outdoors in phoenix on a hot sunny afternoon? does the wig get ruined? Or will it hold up?

This has bothered me for some time. Maybe a moderator can direct this question to someone who wears synthetic wigs and live in Phoenix.

Hon, I did a search for kanekalon synthetic wigs and heat resistance...

Didn't really find anything....

Autumn, I have two wigs, both made out of modacrylic. The online sources indicate that modacrylic wigs are very heat resistant and inflammable, and are poor conductors of heat. It suggests that use of curling irons and other heat treatments to style modacrylic wigs is permissible. I did not see the same for kanekalon wigs; in fact, Wikipedia says that curling irons and such should not be used. That doesn't mean that heat and sweat will damage your wigs, but it could be more of a problem than a modacrylic.

I suggest contacting either the wig store or the manufacturer and asking.

I live in So. California, which can also get very hot. The discomfort of wearing a wig all day in the heat is a big reason I went from a shoulder length wig to a fairly short bob look. But even that gets hot pretty quick.
