I heard back from my mom today that my Dr. faxed over a prescription for EMLA cream to the pharmacy for them to fill. 3 tubes. I guess the total cost with my insurance is going to be $34/tube. I'm not exactly sure how much insurance paid for that, or if they paid any..probably not but hey it was worth a shot.

Next step is to contact the lady who does laser and set up an appointment a few weeks out. Then contact my company and let them know I need to be home on a certain date. I do have a week vacation I haven't used yet....

I guess I should get my happiness and excitement out of my system now because I'm sure after getting zapped I won't feel like celebrating anything..

I can sure understand using EMLA Lizzie. EMLA can make electrolysis much easier. It would be worth the cost.

I've been having electrolysis done on my upper lip. I have to Use blend because I can tolerate it. The problem with blend is that it takes forever to finish. It zaps about 1/3 the hairs as thermal per session.

Thermal is so painful that I jump in the air every time a hair is zapped. And I'd be in tears almost from the beginning of the session. Imagine 400 hairs being zapped in a 1 hour session.

Thanks to you Lizzie I asked my GP if I could have a script for EMLA. She is also the one who monitors my hormones so she had no problem writing the script. I'm going to have my electrologist work on my upper lip Monday thanks to you. If it weren't for you I would have never thought of it. Thank You!

I have to pay $39 a tube for generic EMLA at CVS with no insurance.

Laser treatment that's great Lizzie

I don't remember ever smelling any sizzle smell like Carolyn mentioned, I think a few people read the EMLA cream part and started thinking about electrolysis.

Take some Extra Stenght Tylenol an hour before treatment

Put on the EMLA cream 50 minutes before the laser treatment

Right after applying the EMLA cream cover all the area where the cream was applied with plastic/ saran wrap and yes make a hole for your mouth.

Keep it on til the lady doing your laser treatment sees you and is about to start.

The first time getting laser treatment is the worse, it was for me.

The hairs are denser to work with at first, and I hadn't taken Tylenol and I had used EMLA gel which isn't as effective as the cream.

Between treatments:

Always wear suntan lotion so the next time you have your laser treatment it will be more effective, higher setting for the laser, with a lighter complexion.

i did notice a smell during hair removal. Thanks to laser, i will never eat a porkrind again. Not that I ate them often to begin with.
