My GP monitors and prescribes my hormones. So when I called the office and asked if she would write a script for EMLA, it was waiting for me to pick up later that day. And to my pleasant surprise my insurance covers it. :)

Every time I tried to have electrolysis done on my upper lip, the pain was so intense I couldn't do it, even for a minute. Yet I was able to clear my upper lip in two 1 hour sessions using EMLA. There is still some pain, but now it's tolerable.

Facial hair removal is going to be much easier now. :ThanxSmiley:

That is what my electrologist used on my upper lip....

I have to admit....I don't know if I could of gotten through it without it!

Glad you got it!

My electrologist told me to get 4% or 5% lidocaine cream, it was over the counter at the pharmacy, my insurance did not pay for it and a tube was around $35.00 if i remember correctly, it works similar to emla in that i covered the area with plastic wrap for about 20 minutes before electrolysis, i only needed it for 4 sessions or so, now what few hairs that are left i do not need it.

Everyone?

I wont tell you all the things that went through my mind with the four capitalized letters, EMLA? What was this acronym all about? Gee, people, its an anesthetic, right? [Or something about EMUs in Los Angeles?]

Here ya go....

Lidocaine/prilocaine is a eutectic mixture of equal quantities (by weight) of lidocaine and prilocaine. A 5% emulsion preparation, containing 2.5% each of lidocaine/prilocaine, is marketed by APP Pharmaceuticals under the trade name EMLA (an abbreviation for Eutectic Mixture of Local Anesthetics)

TA DA!

To all

I am so glad this is worked out. I originally thought EMLA was the Erin Murphy Literary Agency, a leading U.S. children's book agency headquartered in Flagstaff, Arizona. They focus on connections—between writer and editor, story and reader—as well as on helping our clients build their careers and grow as artists.

Then I thought the EMLA was the Expanded Metal Lath Association, which provides architects, engineers, contractors and other building design professionals with a wide range of solutions to constructing nice buildings.

But a search showed this? EMLA Elnökségi ülés jegyzőkönyv. dr. EMLA Alapítvány a Környezeti Oktatás Támogatására EMLA Környezeti Management és Jog Egyesület. European Medical Laser Association (EMLA, emla-laser). Laser Helsinki 2010 congress is organized by EMLA this year.

So I don't know.

Lucky! my insurance won't touch it (shocker!). Without insurance, it makes weekly electrolysis cost-prohibitive for me. Looks like I'll have to just keep sucking it up.

Hmmm... My grandmother went to her doctor the other day and I had her ask about this. She said that he told her it was over the counter at the pharmacy without a prescription...

Is this a state by state thing or is her doctor mistaken? I am pretty sure the FDA covers the rules for the whole of the US right? *sighs* She may need to find herself a more competent doctor.

Honestly though... I need anything that can help me get through this. My electrologist hasn't touched my upper lip yet but when she does just below my chin it is nearly intolerable. Why must there be so many nerves in my face?

Anyways thanks for the recommendation. I will check at the pharmacy and see if it really is over the counter. And I will be sure to watch out for those Emus in LA.

Being admitted into the hospital after a long ER visit. I started passing lots of blood and they are keeping me for observation.    Nurse came in to see about a condom catheter, that of course doesn't work on me. 🤣   She said, "I guess we will use incontinence supplies on you."

Yeah.  I think this is what it is about.  Since they are not transgender, nobody else could possibly be either.  I'm not sure that a cisgender person can understand being transgender.  But that hardly means that a transgender person's experience is not real - just because it is not theirs. Why is a transgendered person's experience not valid, while a cisgendered person's is?  Why should it be the cisgendered person that decides? Nobody is forcing a cis person to transition.  What I do for myself is my own business.

I've been thinking it is a matter of belief.  They simply do not believe someone can validly be transgender and should not be allowed to practice their beliefs, but should be forced to practice their belief, that is, that there is no such thing as transgender and it is all mental illness/sin/hormonal imbalance.

I am really kind of sick of everybody who is not transgender deciding on what we need and do not need in the way of procedures. They act like all of this is play acting, and we can just apply cosmetics to our entire body. It might be refreshing if someone asked us directly what services we need in order to transition. I could say more as I am frustrated, but I do not want to violate the TOS.

Good luck on selling your wife on the idea of a different car. This could be tougher than negotiating with a dealership.   My wife agreed to my taking profit out of the company to buy a used truck once we found out the 2014 F-250 I currently had with 267,244 miles on it was needing new torque converter solenoids and the DEF system is chocking up. We bought a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, Duramax 4X4, with 163,000 miles. LTZ Off Road package, power mirrors, chrome step boards, rear camera, exhaust brake, and air lift bags on the rear suspension. It belonged to a friend of mine who also owned a mobile training business.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

At the other end and in our favor is Julia Serano's analysis of the Cass Report Fiasco   https://juliaserano.medium.com/the-cass-review-wpath-files-and-the-perpetual-debate-over-gender-affirming-care-8f56d0c4d0c6   Serano is a Trans Woman and a molecular biologist herself, guess whose evaluation I honor.

That's great @MaeBe hopefully the company will offer your wife a moving package with the new job position. That's how I was transferred from the St. Louis Metro area to the Indianapolis Metro area. The company covered all the moving expenses, as well as a three week stay in an extended living hotel while we chose an area to build our current home.   Good Luck and make it a happy adventure.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
