Which Jeans Should I Get?

What is the major difference between "girls" and "guys" jeans? Should I get the guy skinnies or regular girls jeans? People tell me they are the same but I don't believe that...

The fabric is the same. The cut is very different. Women, juniors and misses all have different shapes because of their different developmental stages. in jeans it has to do with the hips. Womens jeans being the widest. There is also a difference in rise. That is the measurement from the center point between your legs to the top of the waist band. Girls jeans are generally low rise to medium rise and both will be lower than mens jeans. Low rise jeans look very sexy but are uncomfortable to wear at first and because as males we lack hips require a belt to keep them in place. I also suggest longer shirts that come down to the bottom of the waist band to keep from flashing your panties if that's what you decide to wear.

Hope this helps hon

Is it weird I really want to be a girl right now? I'm kinda caught between a hard place and rock so to say...anyway enough about that...maybe I could combine a little of both styles into something that looks cute. Well not jeans but clothing. I've got a pair of skinnies so I'll try to get a pair of girls jeans and compare. Thanks, Em :)

Try them on. I think Juniors girls will be a good fit as guys and chicks are similarly shaped at the younger ages, where men and women are not.

Most of the stuff people already said, but I don't think anyone said yet that girls jeans are stretchier. They have like 2% spandex and mens don't.

I'm concerned they won't have any in my size. I'm 5'10" and my jeans size is 28x32 (yes I'm super thin).

Really? That's great! Stretchy jeans are what I need. :)

Look for size long they are made for taller girls. I am 5'10.5 and I haven't had any problem finding skinny jeans as they only need to reach our ankles. With boot cut jeans can be harder to find because the syle is to wear them down the heel some.

Wow, another 5'10", 28x32'er here? I thought I was the only one!

After too many years trying to find size one long in the women's department, and after coming to terms with my FTM-ness, I actually find 28x32 easier to find. Target has 28x30's that, in the Converse brand, are certainly long enough, and the Gap has many 28x32 jeans in most stores. The Gap also has many long ladies' jeans, if that's what you prefer. Sears has a great selection, though you may have to shop online. And the best long ladies' pants I've found have come from an online store, alloy.com, where you choose your size (they have 00 to 16+) and then choose the inseam (28" to 37"), for very very reasonable prices.

Differences I've noticed: women's zippers are MUCH shorter, women's belt loops are often thinner and not as wide, men's jeans have real pockets, men's have more room in the zipper region (without changing where they sit on the hips), and ladies' jeans have little pockets that sit on the curve of the bottom (and accentuate curve) while mens' have bigger pockets that cover the mid-lower bottom and onto the back of the leg (and minimize curve).

Good luck!

Greetings,

As most of the differences have already been covered I'll just add this: always go with what looks good on you. That could be juniors, misses, or women's and truly depends on the style and cut of the jeans in question. Ultimately, if you don't like the way you look in them, you're not going to wear them, and the only way to figure that out is going to be to try them on...

Peace, love, and contentment,

Isabelle

actually i find that womens jeans fit and look better if you're tucking, but if you're not (or simply dont), mens skinny jeans dont look bad either. the mens skinnys i buy from hot topic are very stretchy and provide plenty of room for that certain region. and since they cling very close, they have that womens jean type feel.. at least thats my opinion

Ok Julie my little sister gave me permission to try hers on and they fit almost perfectly! They are just a little short.

Since my wife tends to wear clothes that are quite loose, which has

alwaysfrustrated me because she has a really good body, I urged her

to try on a pair of my ladies skinny jeans. I wear a size 8 with average

length that I usually buy at Costco because of both price and conven-

ience. They not only fit her perfectly and make her look wonderful,

but she has insisted that I share mine, promising to get more so we

have just one set of everyday jeans.

All the comments are right on. One of the things I enjoy is the tighter

fit, thanks to the Spandex, and the smaller pockets which are, in some

respects almost useless because if the goal is to make you look slim

and fit, packing a wallet and car keys pretty much ruins the look.

Remember, they are designed with the assumption that the person

wearing them is carrying a purse or handbag.

The major difference is that guy's jeans are meant to hang on the body while girl's jeans are meant to hug.

Yeah, I am grieving the man I "should" have been. He will never exist, especially not in my youth. But I don't know how to healthily go about it instead of fixating on the life that could have been.

Sorry it took me a while to respond!    I would like to get to know you. :) I only have mental disabilities. Schizoaffective disorder, depression, and anxiety. The last two are severe and very treatment-resistant. I did have physical problems for some time, but it was caused by an antipsychotic medication (Invega). It basically crippled me, muscle weakness/fatigue, basically could barely walk (used mobility devices) and doctors were useless since they didn't suspect the medication I was on! I've finally ditched antipsychotics (hopefully for good, unless my symptoms come back). I usually don't share like this, especially in person, but hey, I'm anonymous. :)   I'm not expecting reciprocation at all btw, these things are personal. There is more to us than disabilities, so tell me about yourself if you still wanna talk!

@KymmieLWOW! He is absolutely horrible! Definitely one of the worst boss's.
    • KymmieL
Well the boss is at it again. They misplaced a work order thinking I was the last one who had it, yesterday morning. I know where it is. Last thing I did with it was put it back on the counter. He accused me a couple times of having it last and put it somewhere. Come to find out, the other boss (his wife) had taken it. she put the work order paper in the recycle box.   Has he apologized about the accusations. He!! no. I am waiting for hadies to get frost bit.   So that was my morning.  But it is finally warming up here. currently 63 and windy.   Hugs, Kymmie

I am gender fluid, leaning heavily towards trans masc. My eldest is male and despite all the "stuff" we deal with with him (autism, speech delay, etc) I found him to be easy to raise. When my middle kid (female) was born, literally the first words out of my mouth were "I don't know how to raise a girl!" And I really felt I didn't know. She showed me. She's still showing me how to exist as comfortable and completely secure in her gender expression. It is entirely awe inspiring to see all three of them feel so settled in their bodies in ways that I never, ever felt or feel to this day.
    • Ashley0616
That sounded like an awesome opportunity to dress as your actual self. I have to say I'm a little jealous lol. I never got compliments from people and definitely haven't been kissed. I can imagine that part was still really nice and boosted your confidence.

I've been absent so much lately I feel as if I'll never catch up. Too much going on in our lives that's kept me away from the keyboard. and limited my time as "me."   I am so looking forward to your post on how you arrange your life. I know that I won't ever be able to fully transition so finding some happy balance is crucial for me.

Mae, you are so sweet for making this comment.   Desert Fox, you are so right.  I always knew that even though I was part-time, my motivation was way more complicated than a simple desire to wear women's clothes.   Your question is a timely one because in my next post, I am going to talk about how compartmentalized my life is, and the short answer is yes.  I have friends who only know Sally, friends who only my male persona, and a rare few that know both.

@EasyE With my background in Behavioral Sciences I do go to actual conferences for the medical and psychological professionals that deal with Trans Youth, and in those conferences, the ethics of "too fast" versus "too slow and restrictive" are a heavy concern.  There is very thoughtful sharing among the participants for making professional judgments that the therapist is comfortable with without being afraid of what is "too soon" or "not soon enough" to advance to medical prescription therapies. The ethics of what constitute reasonable caution or unreasonable delay are deeply at play in those situations, with the idea to prevent harm while alleviating the patient's stress and other issues.  This type of conference fulfills Continuing Education license requirements that most states and other areas have.  From them the therapist may seem to "speed up" their evaluation process, but it is based on the accumulated experience of colleagues, just as is true in other professions and yes, even trades.

That's wonderful news!! I took our pup in for her Vet check today - perfect. She slept 7 hours last evening and is coming along really well with her house breaking and crate training.   I know you'll have some excitement with a new Boxer!!

Surgeries are drastic, and indeed should be a last resort for minors.  As indeed they are.  It is very rare for anyone under 18 to get gender-affirming surgery.  It is typically only done if the person would be suicidal without it.   Puberty blockers are a way to avoid the "drastic measure" of forcing the person to undergo the wrong puberty.  They should not be prescribed lightly, and I don't think they are.  They are a way to go slow until the person can truly make an informed decision.
