Wigs At Home?

This question is for those ladies who wear wigs on a regular basis full-time

I was wondering what you do when you get home do you just toss the wig to the side and go about your daily business at home or do you continue wearing a wig? I know for me when I'm at home I don't really want to wear the wig around. I'm not living full-time or anything but I have my girls clothing i wear at home, and yeah I don't wear the wig unless I'm going out or I'm going to be going online chat with somebody. Overall it seems I'm not wearing my wig at home.  The lady I bought my wig from has alopecia and my understanding of what she does when she gets home is take it off and toss it to the side.

Also, if I want to look more feminine with the wig off are there any hints?

Good question, Krisina. For me, it depends a lot on the weather. If its hot, and my head is or has been sweaty, or if the house is hot (we don;t have A/C), then I usually take it off for the evening, unless I'm expecting company. If it isn't hot, I'll sometimes wear it until bed time. I have two identical wigs (I call them Carolyn I and Carolyn II), and try to keep one washed, clean and ready.

Oh, and if you want to know where I put it when I get home? I hang it on the stairway bannister post.

Awesome, Carolyn!

To answer the question, I never wear it at home. I take it off and carefully place it on the little wire wig thingamahoover that I bought along with it. It is then placed out of reach of my cats, one of whom tried to eat it once. I treat it with as much TLC as possible (I wash it every 4-5 days) because I can't afford another one and I really do love the way this one looks on me.

When I'm not wearing the wig, I wear one of ten or so head bands that covers most of my forehead...kind of a hippy look and it goes with the length of my hair fairly well. I found that it was often preferable when going outside in Phoenix in the summer to wearing the wig, especially when I had to go to swimming classes with the kids. If I had to wear the wig, I would have melted. You can find them at Target among other places.

Would anyone like to see a rather rare photo of me in my wig? This was an estimated two years and a half ago. It's about what I wanted my hair to look like, but it turns out my natural hair is very wavy, almost curly. I kept this wig folded and in a large plastic storage bag, because I was still hiding my dressing from my ex wife - I mean the full package with long hair and makeup, even though I had come out to her..

My own hair is just about long enough that I can go without a wig, but by now I have several VERY nice ones that I love to wear. With my own hair longer, it is an effort to put it up so I can wear the wigs, so when I get home, I leave them on until beddy bye time, and then remove the 7 or 8 clips I used to put my stuff up and brush it out. In addition to the wigs (over 10 -- I was a CD for several mistaken years) I also have what is called an "integration" hair piece that I put on over my own hair with my hair curled a bit, and then pull my hair through the wiglet base which gives me a much fuller and fluffier hair do than my own very very very fine and laser straight hair. That one I have accidently left in at bed time, and my head top looked great the next morning after a normal brush job. One of my wig care advisors said that it wasn't recommended that I do that, but if I got away with it, don't worry. I also have a clip on set of bangs that I can get away with too. They are about a shade lighter than my own hair, but girls are allowed to have fun. (I need more pictures darn it!)

I have three styro wig heads which I made some bases for, and those are used for my "daily use hair". I live at the base of a canyon where dust is blowing constantly into the house, so I put an old pillow case over the headed wigs to keep the dust off. For the occasional use wigs, I use some plastic shoe boxes from Wal Mart but I wrap the wig in a single layer of tissue paper inside of it. A squirt of one of my favorite fragrances onto the tissue paper, or a cotton round I put in the boxes makes them smell nice when I use them.

That sounds pretty accurate. I'm just glad I don't use Windows anymore, as I basically consider Windows itself a virus/malware. Backups can absolutely save you from some types of malware like ransomware. However it's ideal to just not get infected by having smart browsing habits. It's been said, and very accurately so, that the best antivirus is you - even the best antivirus isn't 100% accurate in detecting bad stuff, if you go out looking for that stuff or browse carelessly.   I guess if you don't care and/or don't have sensitive data on your PC, then that's fine I suppose. I personally care a lot - personal accounts, private messages, and even my very presence on this site aren't necessarily things I want to be public knowledge. 🤓🫠

Yes he is. Sorry it has taken so long. One sick kid and the other has needed my attention more than usually.

Sure is! Is he good with the kiddos?

Once again the Biden admin ignores Congress and issues a regulation that can be quickly changed. It would be much wiser if they worked a bill through Congress that became law.

I think that is the camera on the floor. Of course the kids aren't picking up after themselves oh well. He sure is big for only being 6 months old.

@Birdie @Adrianna Danielle    @Willow    Big news today. We're moving to WA. My wife is taking a job and I am most likely losing mine, so it's adventure time. I'm supposed to be a risk-seeker (Aries, ENTP, etc.) but this is hitting every klaxon and alarm in my brain, but it's going to make my wife and kids happy and it will be a place to make new friends as me without the 45 years of binary baggage. There are tech jobs all over Seattle, which we'll be near, and it's a decent State for trans rights (I don't know how it compares to MN, which is a refuge state). So wish us luck! This could be the best thing ever or rocky as hell, who knows!

I know the feeling. I had to replace the dishwasher, fridge, stove. The only other issues that could pop up is the washer and dryer and the microwave oh I forgot the toaster.

That's the hard part of online relationships, they really never get to see the whole you. You either have to create a persona that will carry the day until they get to see you for who you are, or be open and take the risk because it's really easy for them to disconnect because there is little to no bond.   You have to share pictures of your puppy! I am not a dog person, but I can appreciate them in jpg format! My kiddos would love to have a pet, but we're all allergic in some shape or form and my wife and I are like, "no." :D

I'm sorry Birdie! I wished you could move to a non-stressful place.

I love shopping for cars with my imaginary budget lol. A mustang is always fun to drive! Every time I felt down or depressed I drove it and it made me happy!

Well things have actually been really good lately. I got a dog last Friday. I forgot how expensive they are but they are worth it. Now if I can just get him potty trained that would be awesome! He only has one particular spot inside that he likes so I try to watch him carefully. He is part German Shepheard and part Lab. He is very low maintenance. The sad part is that he didn't know what to do with a treat nor did he knew how to play fetch instead my youngest was playing fetch. He is kind of getting used to toys somewhat. I'm no longer expecting a relationship because I tell them what is wrong with me because I don't want them to be surprised about anything and they always ghost me. Oh well.
