HRT Effects..

Guest Jessica~

I am pretty new to all this.. and I would like to know what HRT changes generally. (I am 19, by the way)

I am a bit confused, I know it'll change your body shape (right?) to more of a feminine figure, you will grow breasts, your skin smooths, hair becomes less coarse/thick amongst other things.. however I am confused what it does to the face? My friend seems to think It has no effect on your face, but that isn't true, right? I mean, what can I expect to change when/if I start HRT? I also heard age also factors into it, too..

Hi Jessica :)

Unfortunately HRT has little effect on the face. Although at your age you shouldn't have as much facial hair as you would when you are older. Plus, it's likely none of your facial has has turned gray yet so laser treatment is a viable option. It should get rid of almost all facial hair. However it is expensive.

As far as body shape, there will be fat redistribution so you would have a more female figure. However your bones fuse to what your hormones dictate. Since you went through puberty as a male, it is very likely your bone structure is male. If you had started female HRT at the beginning of puberty, your bone structure would be female right now.

Still since you are 19, hormones should treat you well and you should be able to pass as a female very quickly, probably within a few months. Of course YMMV. I've been on hormones over 1/2 year and I can't physically pass as a girl unless I wear makeup.

I hope this helps.

Hi Jessica,

Another thing that might be mentioned that the male muscle structure won't be there. An example for me is my legs, which have pretty good muscle tone. But now, the muscles don't stand out as much, and the spaces between the muscles have filled in. This makes my legs much softer looking even though they're still in great shape.

This can help your face too, since the strong male jaw muscles will soften and smooth out as well.

At your age, you stand a chance of seeing wonderful results from HRT. Good luck to you!

Love, Megan

Thankyou very much both of you!

I think I'm lucky with my face as it's not really TOO masculine, and it's rather more of an androgynous babyface, although my chin used to bother me a bit, I don't think it really makes me look that much less feminine anymore.

I can't wait for HRT,I'm looking forward to it so much. There's still a few things I'm uncomfortable with (My height, I'm like 5'9) but ah well! Tall girls do exist~

I heard laser removal is expensive, too.. does anyone know the average cost of it in the UK? I hate my facial hair so much, it grows so quickly.

By the way, I think you both look like great women, Jennifer and Megan Rose! Thankyou for your time! xx

HRT WILL change your face....

While it layers female fat under the skin on your body, it also puts fat on your face in places and "softens" your face..

When I started HRT 32 months ago, I could not pass for female at all.....

I can now go out (even without any makeup) and pass completely.....

Just look at these women on Lynn Conway's pages....Very few have had any facial surgery at all...Just the effects of HRT

I have to disagree. HRT had a tremendous affect on my face and it was one of the earliest changes.

Sorry about that. What I was thinking was facial hair, not the face. The face was the first noticeable change for me.

Your jaw line won't shrink because it is bone BUT it may appear to do so as your face softens and rounds out from the extra layer of fat under the skin. Of course as is always said-it varies from person to person but you may be amazed at the effect HRT will have in making things look softer and more feminine.

will my jaw line shrink? I already have a feminine face but the problem is I cant tie my hair because I have a big jaw line *cry*

I started with a bigger jawline, too.....

But, the HRT takes out some of the muscle mass and while I'm still not totally happy with my jaw, it's WAY better than it was when I started!

HRT? Heck, you'll be surprised!

Hi, Jessica,

HRT will smooth your skin all over your body, it will decrease the muscle mass, it will retard body and facil hsir body, it will redistribut your fat: from your tummy to your butt , tights and hipos; and it iwll aslo redistribut to your face, to make it look more plump (femenine). HTR has no efect in bone strucure but it is going to make your joints more elastic. HRT will make yur hair thin, and it will make it grow in spurs, to help with the hair a bit of progesterone is also given by soem physicians. HRT is going to change your metabolism, you will tend to gain weight and you will crave carbs. There is also a reuction in erections and libido, sperm count will go down to almost nothing. Finally, there psycological and cognitive changes, most of us tend to get a bit more emtional. In some but not all of us there may be a shift into your sexual orientation.

Please see a doctor and a counselor, good luck

For me so far (been on HRT since early march) I've noticed

  • Body Odor gone, ie I smell like a girl now
  • Face has softened some
  • Boobs are up to 38 B and I'm only 155 and 5'9". And they are tender all the time. Yes they are alot more interesting in bed too :)
  • Haven't had alot of fat redistribution yet
  • Skin has gotten VERY soft (was already soft to start)
  • Body hair has gotten finer and thinner (it was already blonde and thin, but it got better :) )
  • I'm more level headed/at peace mentally, but there are still bouts of hormonal fun occasionally
  • Spontaneous erections down to Nil, though I'm still sexually arroused all the time with a T* level; of 25 :)
  • Still am interested in woman mostly, though as always, there's an occasionally guy that peaks my interest.
  • Strange food cravings, but I had that during puberty the first time too!

I'm sure I'm leaving something out, but overall, it's been the coolest experience of my life, finally having the puberty I wanted the first time (albiet, without having a period, so that's a #win) :)

Definately a YMMV

Christine

Good morning everyone,   It was our first night with our European Boxer and it went well. We got up at 05:30 let him out of the cage and went directly outside to give him a chance to go potty. It has been raining for two days and nights so the grass is soaked and nearly up to his belly. I don’t think he’s ever been outside while it’s raining or wet. I had my rain jacket on and a big brimmed hat as well as rain boots, he just stayed at my feet no matter where we went in the yard. I took him to the previous locations where out daughter’s dog had gone poo, but he just sat at my feet. Once inside and drying him off with a towel. He took a poo right there. So I gathered up his mess, and took him and his poo outside. So right now it’s dog one, trainer zero. Now that the coffee is brewed and I have a cup, he’s chewing on a toy.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Strange that I awoke from a dream dreaming about "being able to pee standing up!"   I know that sounds strange from someone AMAB, but intersex issues have always prevented that.    I wonder what made me dream like that? That was a first! 🤔

Morning y'all.    Nearly winter here, but it's a mild climate compared to what most of you experience. Even so, the best way to describe the mornings lately is...nipply! 😁

What I don’t like about the dealer working on my car, yes the put the paper mats on the floor, but why don’t they remove them when they bring my car to me?  And why do they always mess with my radio settings and my electronic dashboard settings?  I get them the way I want them and they seem to want them at factory default.  Leave things like you find them!  Why is that so difficult?  And don’t tell me it’s because the updated the computer! Every time!.  And no I haven’t figured out everything yet on the new car.  I can’t even get my key programmed to move my seat when I get in and out.  It’s supposed to move the seat, the mirrors, the steering wheel and several other things.  My old Eddie Bauer was easy to program but then it only programmed seat location and pedal location.   ok now that we’ve had our rousing knock on cars and dealer mechanics.  What else shall we talk about?  Bras?  Seems like an appropriate subject for most of us.  I have several different types. Two are famous store push-up padded to are more common everyday lightly padded ant one is a no padding no strap slip and the last one is a front close longline no padding.  Now that one supports the theory that I am now a B cup on my own. I’d prefer a C but then I’m not so sure my blouses would still fit without pulling.  Ah the problem we have as women.  And sizes are never ever the same.  Oh I’m a size ??  But men I need a large shirt and 36-30 pants and they always fit.   we can’t buy anything off the rack with confidence it will fit and I hate having to take it home to try one and return what doesn’t fit.   we’ll time to do my hair and leave.   love ya   Willow
