Garter Belt Or Pantyhose

I agree with Bernii in that I can also only wear them for a few hours at a time. But nothing feels better than a new pair of pantyhose over freshly shaven legs. I don't have any garters, but am willing to give them a try.

For me it's got to be pantyhose. I'm not in a position to shave my legs, and to camouflage this I must wear two pairs, one of which would frequently have a pattern, e.g. fishnets. It works, and I also find pantyhose very sexy. Girdles, suspenders and stockings, not at all

LOL.... this has GOT to be a generational thingie. I wear tights/pantyhose a LOT, but for purely utilitarian reasons -- it's COLD here in the winter and early spring!!! Now that summer's here, I'm starting to wear skirts/dresses out (it's actually kinda cool today), and mostly bare-legged, although tights under a skirt are great when the weather's still cool.

I don't own a garter belt or stockings, and frankly don't own the sort of party dress where I'd have an excuse to wear them. Sigh.... all of my undies are pretty simple.

For me there is only one choice garter and stocking/stay-ups. I have never liked pantyhose and never will, nope nada , never going to happen.

Excuse me Maryteresa, that is you in your picture, correct? First off, it's so gorgeous :). Second, what is it you are wearing with those pantyhose?

I wear neither. I love bare legs.

:o We are quite different hun, for me, it seems that the prettiess skirt, the most fancy dress, whatever, are made at least 50 times better with a pair of stockings or pantyhose. Me, I go with the pantyhose, dang stockings can't stay up on their own (lazy slackers :P)

I love garters. I think they are very sexy and putting them on is a good deal of the fun.

I am a bit confused as to how to wear them. I've seen and heard a good deal about the two schools and thought I'd throw them out for discusion and preferences. The garter goes over panties or under panties? obviously if it goes under the straps go through the leg elastic of the panty. That seems to be preferable for those visits to the ladies room so you don't have to reassemble the garter and stockings. Such would be the case if you put the garter on over the panties. On the other hand it seems that the garter under the panty provides some interesting possiblities for those naughty occasions of leaving you rpanties somewhere or long and tempestuous occasions of seduction.

I'm going to keep wearing mine over the panties. It just seems right in the order of dress (and undress)

WOW

Old Topic revisited!

Pantyhose in the winter and fall (they are warm.

Neither in the summer (I live in the deep south).

A long time ago, I remember I tried a garter belt. It was ok, but I perfered the girdles at the time with the six garter straps. Now, tho, it really depends on how I'm feeling. I have a sort of black strapless braselette (like a merry widow) with four straps and I use that with my stockings when I'm in a certain mood. Other times, I like my cream thigh tops. It is interesting, that recently I lost some weight and am back to where I was when I purchased several pairs, and now they stay up so much better than when I had a few more pounds. I wonder why?

But there are times I like pantyhose, too, sheer or slightly re-inforced (those do tend to last longer).

I do agree with Shelley and Bernii that after a few hours both the stockings and pantyhose tend to get a little much against my skin. The thigh tops seem to be the least irritating for long periods.

Ah, the under/over question. Putting the straps under panties, certainly makes it easier to remove for those needed moments. And with the braselette, there's a long expanse between the bottom and where they attach to my stockings, so when I'm sitting, if they aren't under, then they tend to come up a little and become noticeable under some skirts or dresses - not particularly flattering, so mostly under.

Prefer knee highs, mine stay up for as long as I have them on. I might wear panty hose but at 6'2" I cant seem to find a pair that have long enough legs. All of the ones Ive tried come up almost exactly 2" short.

I have only just now got my garter belt on and all of the stockings in place, and I must say it is an amazing feeling! I think I like it more than pantyhose..At least, for now, it was a HUGE effort to hook each of the....straps? To the stockings.

BUT I LOVE IT!

Found new(for me) new style of pantyhose.

They are thigh highs and come up at least to your mid thigh, sometimes different styles come up near the crotch line...They have a rubbery elastic strip near the top and the top itself is faux lace, different styles, and different material, some are fish net, some are 'woven' some are standard. Colors I have found so far are flesh tone, and black..Looking for red, no luck yet...Cost about $5.00 (US) and for me they are divine....

I love stockings with a nice garter-belt, but find hold-ups to be more practical, and still feeling sexy. Only thing is that I would like some white stockings (as hold-ups and for use with a garter-belt) to go with some of my clothes, but almost all the shops & stores only seem to sell them in black or tan colours. A little bit annoying.

Oh I knowww, I just want some nice pure while ones, but yes, all the stores just sell black and tan. but now that I think about it..the white ones wouldn't really match with anything i have :P.

I am gender fluid, leaning heavily towards trans masc. My eldest is male and despite all the "stuff" we deal with with him (autism, speech delay, etc) I found him to be easy to raise. When my middle kid (female) was born, literally the first words out of my mouth were "I don't know how to raise a girl!" And I really felt I didn't know. She showed me. She's still showing me how to exist as comfortable and completely secure in her gender expression. It is entirely awe inspiring to see all three of them feel so settled in their bodies in ways that I never, ever felt or feel to this day.

That sounded like an awesome opportunity to dress as your actual self. I have to say I'm a little jealous lol. I never got compliments from people and definitely haven't been kissed. I can imagine that part was still really nice and boosted your confidence.

I've been absent so much lately I feel as if I'll never catch up. Too much going on in our lives that's kept me away from the keyboard. and limited my time as "me."   I am so looking forward to your post on how you arrange your life. I know that I won't ever be able to fully transition so finding some happy balance is crucial for me.

Mae, you are so sweet for making this comment.   Desert Fox, you are so right.  I always knew that even though I was part-time, my motivation was way more complicated than a simple desire to wear women's clothes.   Your question is a timely one because in my next post, I am going to talk about how compartmentalized my life is, and the short answer is yes.  I have friends who only know Sally, friends who only my male persona, and a rare few that know both.

@EasyE With my background in Behavioral Sciences I do go to actual conferences for the medical and psychological professionals that deal with Trans Youth, and in those conferences, the ethics of "too fast" versus "too slow and restrictive" are a heavy concern.  There is very thoughtful sharing among the participants for making professional judgments that the therapist is comfortable with without being afraid of what is "too soon" or "not soon enough" to advance to medical prescription therapies. The ethics of what constitute reasonable caution or unreasonable delay are deeply at play in those situations, with the idea to prevent harm while alleviating the patient's stress and other issues.  This type of conference fulfills Continuing Education license requirements that most states and other areas have.  From them the therapist may seem to "speed up" their evaluation process, but it is based on the accumulated experience of colleagues, just as is true in other professions and yes, even trades.

That's wonderful news!! I took our pup in for her Vet check today - perfect. She slept 7 hours last evening and is coming along really well with her house breaking and crate training.   I know you'll have some excitement with a new Boxer!!

Surgeries are drastic, and indeed should be a last resort for minors.  As indeed they are.  It is very rare for anyone under 18 to get gender-affirming surgery.  It is typically only done if the person would be suicidal without it.   Puberty blockers are a way to avoid the "drastic measure" of forcing the person to undergo the wrong puberty.  They should not be prescribed lightly, and I don't think they are.  They are a way to go slow until the person can truly make an informed decision.

My Endo keeps track of several trace chemicals in my blood system that can be affected by our slightly different hormone balance, keeping in mind we have had both hormones all our life, just in different balance.  I did have to change one diuretic I was taking that was crashing out one chemical that does affect energy levels, and it turned out that Spiro was the alternative to that one for the way it works there.  I was never on Spiro for the hormone issues per se.  Let your doctor know about the fatigue sometime today or whenever you read this.

Hmmm .  .  . if I only had a ten-word description that completely described my identity. That would be great, but one doesn't exist. "I'm a girl—and a boy. And neither—and both?" There. Now you know, right? Maybe not. —Davie

I think you should discuss it with your doctor.  I know you are 'asking around' but experience probably varies.
