"Dave, did you shave your legs?"

"Yes"

"why?"

"I'm a transsexual"

What do you think? I can't see any holes in my plan. If she freaks out, I can say, "uuugh mooom1 I'm kidddinnngg!! Cuz it's nice!11!"

I've thought more about it now, and while that idea seems like a good one, I am going to save it for in case she DOES in fact ask me, and not rely on that fact.

For real, I am going to write her an email when I see she's online at work. Do you think it would be ok for me to send this kind of thing to her work email? She might freak out, and she'd be at work...

In it I would probably start out with, of course, a little blah blah don't freak out stuff, then confess myself. Then I would give a bunch of links to information, and maybe even a link here. I would probably close with something like

"I'm not going to start a conversation with you about this if it makes you uncomfortable. Take your time to get used to the idea, and then talk to me. If you want to forget about this email entirely, I understand, and I am OK with that for now. I really want to talk to you about it, and it took me a lot of courage to do this. Please don't tell Dad or Sam, or ANYONE else."

I need to talk to my girlfriend about this, too. I need to know if she will be comfortable if my mom wants to talk to me while she's here. I think it would help me, but I don't want to make her feel uncomfortable... Time to go start an awkward conversion...

Please give me feedback and suggestions... Thanks

Daru

Hi,

do not use her work email. Maybe someone else can also read it. I think a personal talkw ith your mother is best. EMail on work is not the right way between mother and kid.

I think that would give her quite a shock.

Email sounds like a better idea. I think it would be best to carefully plan things out, run the scenario in your head, and see what works the best.

Be sure to take into account the worst case scenario.

I have to agree with Nelly on this one. Work email is not the best. If she has a personal email address and you want to send it during work hours to that one (still not the greatest to read it at work) at least that would be better since by and large anything "part" of work -including email addresses- employers let ya know are subject to monitoring in whatever way they deem appropriate- including reading it.

If you just want to break it to her, fine. But it might be better to find out a lot of facts about GID, when you knew you had it, etc because she's going to have questions. How you answer those questions could determine if she wants to stay with you or not.

Well, yes, I would have sent it to her personal email. I have google talk, and I use gmail myself, so I can see when she is checking her email.

But I could also write her a letter... or just go talk to her, or something. I'm such a chicken ;-;

I'm not sure the shaved leg bit will be that effective as a coming out gambit. I've kept my legs shaved for 5 or 6 years ( several years before I was even willing to face up to who I am) and no one has ever commented on it.

I bet my mom would :D

I had my legs shaved for quite some time in high school, even in gym class when I wore shorts. I felt like people noticed, but no one said anything either.

In school last year in a speech class, one girl wanted to do a demonstration speech on how to put on make up. She recruited a guy to do it, and she was going to dress him up and everything (lucky guy). She asked if she could shave his legs, and he said they already were :D Was an interesting day... she made it into a big deal, but none of the guys seemed to care.

In the end, she changed her topic and it never happened :(

Haha, a girl actually gave a speech like that in my school! And, likewise, a guy got to get dressed up for it. It's too bad I wasn't in that class...

There are pictures on facebook. It's pretty funny, since everyone thinks the kid did it just to get the attention of the girl giving the speech, lol. Also, there was waaaaaaaay too much makeup. The kid looked like a... well, a "lady of the evening," teehee.

Hi,

I still have the opinion that a personal talk is the best solution. I also think that planing it to much only let it move far away and you will never do it.

So if you and your mum has time, go to her and ask if you can talk with her about something very important for you.

I talked to my girl when I was really down. She ask me why I am was so down and than I thought that this is the moment to tell. Maybe you can do it the same. If you are felling down and your mum notice it, she will help you and it also shows that it is so important for you that you are not fine in your situation.

Greetings

Nelly

I've been thinking it is a matter of belief.  They simply do not believe someone can validly be transgender and should not be allowed to practice their beliefs, but should be forced to practice their belief, that is, that there is no such thing as transgender and it is all mental illness/sin/hormonal imbalance.

I am really kind of sick of everybody who is not transgender deciding on what we need and do not need in the way of procedures. They act like all of this is play acting, and we can just apply cosmetics to our entire body. It might be refreshing if someone asked us directly what services we need in order to transition. I could say more as I am frustrated, but I do not want to violate the TOS.

Good luck on selling your wife on the idea of a different car. This could be tougher than negotiating with a dealership.   My wife agreed to my taking profit out of the company to buy a used truck once we found out the 2014 F-250 I currently had with 267,244 miles on it was needing new torque converter solenoids and the DEF system is chocking up. We bought a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, Duramax 4X4, with 163,000 miles. LTZ Off Road package, power mirrors, chrome step boards, rear camera, exhaust brake, and air lift bags on the rear suspension. It belonged to a friend of mine who also owned a mobile training business.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

At the other end and in our favor is Julia Serano's analysis of the Cass Report Fiasco   https://juliaserano.medium.com/the-cass-review-wpath-files-and-the-perpetual-debate-over-gender-affirming-care-8f56d0c4d0c6   Serano is a Trans Woman and a molecular biologist herself, guess whose evaluation I honor.

That's great @MaeBe hopefully the company will offer your wife a moving package with the new job position. That's how I was transferred from the St. Louis Metro area to the Indianapolis Metro area. The company covered all the moving expenses, as well as a three week stay in an extended living hotel while we chose an area to build our current home.   Good Luck and make it a happy adventure.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

@Birdie is the day care in charge of your MyChart, Hospital, and Doctors as to how you are cared for? There has to be some way to prove that you were born intersex and have a choice on your chosen pronouns. I wish we could do more for you. Keep pushing forward.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
