Something that bugged me for a little while...

I've played around with loads of gender selections on here. I'm now using MTF because, well... I don't know, it feels right to say female. When I changed it though, I got quite nervous. Supportive community, understanding people, yes yes, but... social anxiety, yay I think I was afraid I was "signing up" to something that might not quite fit, or that I was taking on some other expectations, or even that it was wrong... but it just feels better this way. May change sometime, may not. MT? is like a nice cuddly place I can be without worrying about what I am, but MTF just feels more right, even if it does introduce expectations. And, even if I am female, I may well be a bit of a funkily weird female queer, weird, "interesting", "special"... well, it's what I'm comfortable with.

I'm posting this cuz it's been something I wondered about for a while. If it makes me scared to use MTF, surely MT? fits better? But I think I see now, it doesn't, it just means less expectations, or less perceived expectations. But then, that's what we're all trying to get away from in the first place! So it's MTF now, because I prefer it that way. Sorry if I don't act all girly completely all the time, I'm still finding myself, but that's different from the F/? question.

I used MT? for about 2 years here. Even now, full time and all, I'm holding with MTF.

The problem with labels is that they do box a person in. Even now, living full time and all, I just can't quite fit in the box. Oh well, who says we have to?

Ignota, there is no need to stress. The designation is more a convenience to the staff and members than anything else. You can change it as often as you find the need. Whatever seems appropriate at the time, is fine with us.
