HRT Update - 2 weeks

Wow!

Yep, that awesome! But you knew that already.

Okok, so for really, what I've noticed so far.

1) Achy muscles, some loss of strength (can only do 20 chin ups instead of 30, hey I climb cliffs for fun!)

Haven't been able to weigh or measure myself so I'm not sure if I've actually lost muscle mass yet, could just be T going down and not helping to fire muscles or something like that. I have been a bit fatigued overall also, but that is starting to fade. I am sleeping MUCH more soundly too, since I usually wake up several time a night that is a huge blessing.

2) been super hungry, craving fatty foods, especially dairy and meats. Breakfast sausage is my new oh my gods weakness. I'm not gonna worry about dieting too much for now. I have always had super low body fat like 3-4% so there's not exactly anything to redistribute unless that goes up a bit.

3) My skin has become much more sensate, and slightly different texture. Especially in areas where my skin is naturally softer to begin with.

4) my chest did it's foreshadowing of what breast growth will feel like for 1 day last week. Then it's come back to stay for the last 3 days. Owwww, yay!

5) I went to shave my underarms after 4 days, and there was nothing to shave! I usually shave my underarms every other day. No noticeable difference on body hair anywhere else yet.

6) I am way less scatter-brained. Less likely to forget stuff like mental shopping lists. A ton easier to follow a conversation!! Ohh, and fewer headaches!

7) I've had 1 faucet incident so far when my student mentioned the movie 'Black Hawk Down' all I could think about was one of my buddies who died in Iraq and how he was kind of like the clerk character with his stupid little french press except he would prattle for hours about computer networks he worked on when he was really stressed out. Took about 45 minutes before I stopped leaking!

8) Peeeeeeing all the time, a ton worse the last 2 days since I went to full dose spiro. Hopefully this part will ease up in a couple weeks. Goddess please!

Can't really think of anything else that is noticeable yet. Certainly a different sort of ride. Just being able to think more clearly makes every one of the annoying bits worth it though!

Cheers

That all sounds wonderful for you Elena!

Isn't it amazing how much better we feel when we have the right hormones for our brains? I had a lot of brain fog and memory problems that cleared up on T. So many unexpected things change and we celebrate every one of them.

I'm happy for you. Enjoy the ride!

Elena,

You're on your way. I also found my that my thinking was more clear after I started HRT, but, I don't know if that's because I finally made a decision or the effect of the hormones. Either way, it was and still is a very natural feeling.

Hugs,

Shari

Elena:

Heck, honey, you've only just begun!

May we assume you're on full-strength estradiol and full-strength spironolactone? If so, then we can't WAIT to hear what you have to say by mid-summer of 2012 ... hee, hee, hee! :excl:

Girlfriend, just let an older and more experienced sister tell you: "You ain't seen NUTHIN' yet, honey!!!"

Some of the old-time golden girls around here who've been on HRT for a while will tell you, strap yourself in, girl, 'cause your rocket has merely ignited upon your launching pad! Ha! You're just lifting off! Just WAIT until you reach escape velocity! By Christmastime next year, all kinds of lonely truckers at those truck stops are gonna marjorly stare holes in you, girl! Get ready! Get used to it! :score:

Hurricane Elena is ramping up to Category 5! Once she attains THAT, gang way! Yeehi!

Rock ON, Elena!!!

:friends: Lacey :friends: Lynne :friends:

Now that is what I call service!  Congratulations on your HRT and on having such good patient care.

I agree with you, and I consider myself lucky to have a realistic understanding that I’m never going to have my dream body. I take comfort in the fact that women come in all shapes and sizes. I compare myself to the women in my family at the age I am now, and see that resemblance. It may be easier to transition into an Auntie or Grandmotherly figure once you reach a certain age.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I’m happy that I’m moving closer to @Betty K although I don’t have a problem getting my point across when defending our LGBTQIA community.

Once I start mowing the lawn I’ll be listening to Outlaw Country on SIRUS XM on my noise canceling headphones. I often wonder if drowning out the motor noise and replacing it with your favorite tunes is really protecting your ears? Rock on with new song writers that aren’t a part of the Big Corporate Music Grinder.    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

@Heather Shay, you know me, I am a total crybaby. My emotions flow right through me.

Is it a thing to not want to be transgender? Absolutely. I’ve heard trans folk say many times that they wished they were born cis. I find it heartbreaking and I’m hugely relieved I don’t feel that way, but I know some people do.   You don’t need body dysphoria to be trans. You don’t need any dysphoria. You just need to feel a mismatch between your gender identity and your sex assigned at birth. Of course, whether or not you should transition is a different question, but some people do so without body dysphoria. In my case, my dysphoria is mainly social, though I do feel some body dysphoria.   British writer Paris Rees said that maybe if society weren’t so transphobic she wouldn’t have felt the need to transition. I wonder about that sometimes too, but I find it impossible to know.   Can I make one suggestion w/r/t therapists? I agree with Vicky’s suggestion, but I hope you will avoid anyone claiming to practise “exploratory therapy”, and if you start feeling that a therapist is trying to “cure” you of your gender that you will find someone else. The affirmative model of care, contrary to what some anti-trans campaigners would have you believe, simply means that the clinician takes your own view of your gender seriously. This is crucial, imo, if you are to discover your own identity. No-one can know if you are trans but you, but it sure helps to have someone knowledgeable to discuss it with.

Good morning everyone,    Parker has been walked, fed and watered. He’s now checking to make sure the backyard doesn’t have any squirrels in it. The largest squirrel is on an overhanging branch chirping at him. The other sounds of the neighborhood include a far off in the distance interstate highway, that is drowned out by bird songs claiming the feeders are full. We still don’t have any cicadas in our area yet. The coffee pot is finishing up so I’ll be scrolling through the threads with thumb swipes, and not replying until I drink the first cup. Today is the pick of the week according to the local weather person. So I’ll be mowing the lawn once the morning dew has lifted.    I hope you have a wonderful day.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Are you able to deal (express) with your emotions or do you block them?

You might need adjustment. I think fatigue might be something you discuss with your endo or doctor or NP.

Welcome. Well written and relatable. I get it. I see you've met some of the wonderful sisters here and more will join in soon.
