A little New Year acceptance? And time for manscaping again?

I was walking to work today and our landlord saw me and said, "You got a five o' clock shadow there, time to shave." I responded, I have more than a five o 'clock shadow; am growing a goatee but I will be trimming to keep it neat. He said his son has one. Just a matter of fact conversation.

This is a guy who is very old-fashioned and a friend actually explained to him that I was trans not gay. And given his background and exposure, he has been wonderful in his acceptance and it was instant. It made a lot of sense to him. He was always nice to me but now there are small things that he says and does that make my day. He treats me like any other guy. Listens to me about stuff that needs to be fixed, we talk about guy stuff.

The point is that never to assume, give people a chance and sometimes coming out as trans will help. Like everyone, I had fears, and in these past months, I keep coming out to people I know or think will be a challenge. And so far, it's been okay. Just being ourselves and not making a big deal helps people accept.

Yesterday I was at church, not a single person said anything. As if I always had a beard. I went about my normal routine. It felt good. Their treating me like my usual self is the greatest sign of acceptance.

So to celebrate I am going to see my favorite ladies at the Spa and get a bit of manscaping done to the goatee.

Things like this help with the fact when other things and timelines are not in my control. I waited half a lifetime to get to this point, but I am here and when I get to feeling down, I remind myself I am at a good place, and it's okay to enjoy where I am now.

Celebrate those little man or woman moments today.

That is good, acceptance. And the ability to grow a beard totally male. That is not something women can pull off. I'm very happy for you.

Always inspiring and with a profound message, thank you John. I feel the same way, most of us have fears about coming out to people in our lives that are misplaced, some aren't. But, I've found in my life most were. Go get manscaped, you deserve it!

That's great for you, John. I am happy knowing that you are.

You are absolutely right, people can surprise you. I've found that people will respond to you the person, not you the transman or transwoman. They might be surprised at first, but its amazing how fast people get used to the idea.

You are a likeable person, John. That's what counts.

Thanks John. You will not have any issues because you are just such a likable man. You always treat others with kindness and respect and receive the same in return. Now go to that spa and enjoy.

Thanks Mia. I did, got back a little while ago.

I am going to keep it at that "it's growing stage" which means trimming it just a bit regularly LOL. As the women at the spa said, "the chicks dig that stage" and you know I like to keep the women happy.

Yes! Thanks Dee Jay. For those of you that think I am getting excited about nails, not in the same way you do, :D the bonus for me is seeing the nails on Dee Jay in a picture taken most likely by Lizzie who is a great photographer.
