What Surgeries Would You Have And What Doctor Would You Use?

Mary Ellen, Steven Brown does treat transgender patients, but he is not a surgeon, to the best of my knowledge.

As for what surguries that I would have, I think that I would like to have GRS, a trache shave, and lose some of the excess skin I have on my chin and neck area. I would like to avoid breast augmentation, but it is certainly within the realm of possibility for me. If I don't manage to get rid of all this excess weight, liposuction is a good possibility, if I can afford it at that time.

I never answered this, I guess I was still new and shy.

Dr. Bowers, I selected her before I even got my therapist - actually she recommended my therapist to me.

SRS is all, I lived with this face I was given for this long and most say its more female than male so why not?

Love ya,

Sally

I had my Orchiectomy done by a Dr. Fyke in Saint Louis, and plan on going to the University of Michigans Comprehensive Gender Clinic for all my other Surgeries. They are the only ones that I have found that will accept my Medicare insurance for SRS. I was planning to do it this August but I had to have another stent put in one of my corinary arterys this month so I have to wait another year. I'm hopeing that I will get rid of enough weight that the doctor can give me a tummy tuck and use that skin for added depth durring my SRS. The more I think about it the more I want to have some FFS work done as well. Maybe cheek implants a nose job and possibbly have something done to my chin.

I'm probably going to Thailand since It's cheaper.

I want FFS but I'm gonna see how HRT does first.

I want breast enlargement surgery and of course SRS.

Geez...how did so many of us miss this....???

I choose Thailand....I've been there on different occassions and I love the culture and the people.

They are leaders in GRS surgery! VERY talented and modern tecniques!

I think I'll stick with that ...gotta see how I develop in the front!

Huggs...

Simple Mastectomy- Probably with, I think their name is Glenn Davis, just because they're a half hour drive from me and it's not like I want a transguy results, so it's okay if they're imperfect. ASAP

Hysterectomy- again, anyone close is fine as long as they're qualified and have done it before with good results. With ovaries removed. I'd love to have the vaginal canal gone, but I don't know if that's possible. I might end up not doing it if I can find a birth control that stops the cycle and doesn't mess with my hormones too bad, but I don't think that's possible.

I'm worried about hormones, just because I want something unusual and netiher is realy a good option.

I can't afford to get a pimple squeezed by a plastic surgeon here. I want a simple mastectomy for now. That is all I'm sure of.

I don't know for sure, but I believe that Canada covers SRS for transpeople if you can't pay, I might be wrong. You also might see if you can get it covered for a medical reason, if you're lucky. That's what I'm trying to do.

had my chest surgery with Dr Melissa Johnson in Springfield Mass. she does great work.

If money was no problem, I'd definately go to Dr. Perovic to complete the rest.

Gee i missed this one too.

Grs with Christine Mcginn in Philadelphia is my 1st choice and Supporn in Thailand is my second choice.

If i decide on FFS it will be a brow shave, but hair will pretty much cover it so i don't know.

Hey, my friend!

I see my GP Monday. I've got a lot to cram into 10 minutes, but this'll be on the list for sure.

I think you mentioned seeing a gender therapist- you should ask them about it as well, they'd probably know more, too.

Heck yes. That's the first thing I'm shooting and saving up for. Metaoidioplasty... maybe. Once I have money (and no boobs!!) I'll think about it. If I went for bottom surgery I'd probably have that one. But I'd really have to think about it. I don't want no damage and such down there, (Le ouch!) and I'm not exactly suicidally dysphoric about it.

Not sure about doctors but...

I would just get a peri, in the hopes that good things (like much improved bottom surgeries) come to those who wait...

:P

I am a little confused about the word in your title there.    Defamation is a variation I know about, and it is akin to Libel and Slander in meaning, and could be the object of a court action or a couple of types.   If you are referring to the act of denying or taking away your feminine gender, ie. they keep using masculine names and pronouns or referring to you as  a "man" or "man in a dress", then yes it happens to me on rare occasion and if it is online, I simply block the moron doing it or leave the group where they are doing it, and may or may not come back if the person is there.  When people are willing to learn about Trans Folks I do give what are jokingly referred to as Trans 101 or even more in depth classes to the receptive and accepting audiences.  I DO NOT however try to teach a pig to sing, which as they say sounds like hell and annoys the pig.  If someone is invalidating your gender, get away from them safely and FAST.

My inner child likes to cuddle with Blahaj.  I know it's weird, but it works for me.

I'm not sure they can do this.  Not on line anyway.  LOL   Defamation?  Not that I personally know of.

Nice! I've found myself shopping around for astrophotography gear more than once but haven't taken the plunge yet. To close to a metro area to do it from my home.

It never occurred to me to be able to see them here in the south.   Maybe tonight if it's not cloudy.

Well, this last post brings my trans life up to date.  What happens from here is anyone's guess.  The next big milestone will be retirement, probably next year some time.  I don't think that will change things much for Sally because as I have stated previously, I am in a mostly happy place where she is concerned.    I do have a few more posts planned, as I would like to write in more detail about a few occurrences that were memorable to me.  Hopefully they will be of interest to others.    Hugs,   Sally

Has anyone been a victim of online defemination? and what to do about it?
    • Vidanjali
Yes, this is very therapeutic. You are able to see different aspects of your own personality. There is the part which has survived life thus far through decision making and lots of trial and error. That part of you is your wise and capable parent. When you feel strongly identified with the scared child in you, you can turn to the wise parent part of you whom you trust to guide you. You have faith and trust in that part of you necessarily because it has gotten you this far. Naturally, we all have room for improvement and advancement, but you can only start where you are and try to do your best with what you have to work with and deal with. But by adopting this attitude, you see that wise parental part of you become stronger, wiser, and more steadfast and skillful. Then the child in you increasingly becomes more trusting and carefree.

You want to hear coincidence? I just posted that and my neighbor just texted me and said she has been up early because there were Northen Lights outside. Then 2 seconds later I get an extreme weather alert. “We are experiencing Extreme Geomagnetic conditions observed and continued severe geomagnetic storms expected to continue through the weekend”.

No you aren't!!  There were reports from Texas, Arkansas and the Carolinas of spectacular shows last night.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime event, the best show since 1938, someone said.  Tonight is supposed to be just as good.  (OK, maybe a twice-in-a-lifetime event.  )
