well, my doc said i could have three glasses of wine or less a day.

so i was wondering, if drinking wine can diminish the effects of hrt.

certainly wouldnt want to do that...but Eliza LOVES chardonnay!

I don't think so, unless you're drinking 2 or 3 bottles at a time (not that I think you'd do that!) I still drink wine and other alcoholic drinks about twice a week and haven't had any problems :)

While I have seen some reference on other sites to not consuming alcohol on hrt I have not heard that from a medical professional. I have not seemed to have any problems. I think the amount has a lot to do with overall health in the first place.

I have also heard that a lot of caffeine will be an issue with MTF because it stimulates T production. But again I have not heard this from a doctor.

Mia,

No Starbucks? OMG.

There are some things in life that can not be given up.

However I have cut back from a venti bold to a grande bold when I go out.

More than three glasses of wine a day will have an adverse impact on more than the effects of HRT. Like your ability to drive, for instance. ;)

Moderation in all things (except love) is my motto. Another Big Mac? No, thank you. :P

A glass a day I don't think will hurt anything, but I haven't seen any studies.

I don't know about the effects of HRT on transitioning while drinking. That would require research money that isn't spent on the results of HRT transitioning without drinking.

I do know that post-menopausal women who drink and are on HRT double their risk of breast cancer in some research.

well i certainly dont need anymore t! since im a trucker, i never drink unless im at home. i never really drank much before, but i have noticed a real affinity for chardonnay since ive come out started hrt, and gone full time.

i think less is more in this situation. my hrt is crucial to my survival, as is my overall health is of course.

Eliza

HRT puts some stress on the liver. So does alcohol. I think he's simply looking out for your liver.

well, due to some difficult reality with some aspects of my former life, ive been drinking excessively for the last three days. not to where im actually drunk, but sipping wine all day. ive put a stop to it, and begun to deal with those difficult things like an adult and realized the drinking was making things worse.

well anyway, im ok now.

hugs,

Eliza

I gave up alcohol (red wine for me) when I began HRT. It wasn't something that my doctor mentioned, but as Leah said, I didnt want unnecessary extra strain on my liver. Since my pre-existing blood disorder meant my chances of clots, DVT, PE, etc were greater, I basically became a health junkie. I dont drink alcohol anymore, have a largely vegan diet, and do 3 jogs a week. Health-wise, I feel fantastic right now.

But back to the question, I dont know if alcohol in moderation would have a significant impact. For me, I take my HRT around 8am/8pm each day, and usually I would normally have a glass of red around that 6-8pm window, right before taking HRT. I didnt like the idea of that. Having alcohol in your blood when taking HRT cant be a good habit. But if you drink at a different time of day to when you take HRT, I guess it may be less harmful, best to ask a medical professional.

Basically, as much as I love being on HRT, I am trying to minimise it's impact on my health by being as healthy as possible.

Mia, I hope the caffeine thing isnt true lol. I need 3 cups of coffee throughout the morning. I wont be giving that up. My hormone levels are where they should be now, so maybe im not going overboard on the caffeine.

This hand written stuff is just a few years old, but those math animation graphics are decades old.  Those Flash Math Creativity days.  Lots of good memories from that.  I never read that book, but you know, I was fully in that thing.   I called the collision detection I was coding 4 dimensional math.  My roommate a few weeks ago was describing the fourth dimension as a cube within a cube, connected at the corners and folding in on itself.  I always considered the fourth dimension to be time.  I'm not sure I ever coded a 3 dimensional collision detection, but I realized that you would just do it with the perpendicular plane and then take the closest hit.  My mind certainly isn't in all the details of it right now.  I'm simply enjoying showing some of my work and perhaps it will spark someone else's interest.  I guess my art work doesn't fall into a clean boundary of illustration.  There is a thing about adopting a theme though.  You've got to work with something in an OOP world.

That’s so wonderful! I’m glad to hear that mono-therapy worked for you! But Thank you, I’m def trusting the process and seeing where it leads. 😊     That’s really kind of you to say all of that. It makes me feel better that the plan I’m sticking with is unique to me as every plan each and every one of us is on is unique. And yes, I absolutely echo your sentiments about communicating clearly and openly with my provider if something doesn’t feel right or not working. Very good advice! 😊   I told my provider at the appointment that my plan was to do mono-therapy once my levels were good. She said when that time comes it will definitely be considered, but for now it’s getting my levels where they need to be is her main concern.

We have been asked to make our membership aware of the following Research Study.   Hi, my name is Aidan Graves, and I am a part of the Yamashiro Collective Memory at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Our lab is currently running a research project on how different generations of gay and trans individuals generally think about their memories as well as gay and trans life experiences in general. We are looking for volunteers to interview and we would love your participation. We have a form we can send you for people who are interested to read about and sign up for an interview with one of our researchers. Thank you for your time, and have a great summer! @Adrianna Danielle, I’m happy things are going well for you and your boyfriend!   A late second coffee may be in order, but over my first I had a call with my boss. I guess he wants to keep me limping along for a couple more weeks so maybe I can find a job—and not have to tell people he’s laying me (and others) off. I guess my responsibilities will be solely as lead generation. Alone that is a thankless and exhausting job, but add that to a move and trying to find new employment…   I guess it’s one more paycheck; I can’t resign without giving up unemployment benefits (I assume), so it’s dialing for dollars for the next couple weeks between getting shot down by AI application filters and trying to sell my house! 🤪

Everyone’s path is unique to them. What works amazing for one person may not work well for another (one reason why this forum has rules against sharing dosage information). So, each of us are experimenting in a way. Just create a plan, including options for changing things up if that plan is causing harm or not working, communicate openly and clearly with your provider, and stick with it. Body changes won’t happen overnight, so it’s good to remember you have time.   💜
