I don't agree with their angle that we should becompulsorily sterilized, but I do believe more study needs to go into the effects of hormones on children in the womb.

Scientists are now thinking that hormone imbalances during early brain development may cause transsexuality in the first place. If this is true, that means that a female child born to a female-to-male transsexual may end up a female-to-male transsexual automatically.

As a transsexual myself, that would be an awful tragedy. I simply will not risk doing this to someone else.

This isn't my country but I can't agree with this practice. If Transsexualism is caused by (and probably is) hormone imbalances.. Then it wouldn't be inherited. I don't understand this, as anyone who has undergone hormone treatments on either side could be infertile. That is unless they are some sort of rarity in the medical world. Freezing eggs or sperm prior to hormone treatments or srs should be the sole decision of the individual undergoing these treatments, not the government. We've already given up so much, why should a future where we might be able to have children of our own be one of those things that will be taken from us?

Honestly, in the face of what I can gain and lose by undergoing hormone treatments.. It's something I care less about.

For the future of transsexuals? I know dysphoria is a terrible, terrible curse. However, we're entering a time where our rights, acceptance and understanding will be won. Ten years from now, the social stigma against transsexuals will be a thing of the past. Some of the younger girls and boys these days are receiving the treatments now that will allow them to experience the life that they should have.

I absolutely agree that we should be allowed to freeze our various gametes without government intervention, and I hate any policy that restricts that and related freedoms, but study still needs to be done on a FtM transsexual taking HRT carrying a female child, like the "pregnant man" that was all the rage a bit back. Testosterone crosses the placenta. What if the testosterone causes FtM transsexuality in the child?

That's a rarity, and it's completely un-acceptable to even try to carry a child while on hormone therapy in my opinion. I don't believe that you medically could successfully carry a child full term while remaining on testosterone therapy, as pregnancy is very, very dependent on female hormones. and I agree that is a concern. But unless you decide to impregnate shortly after starting it, It's not a likely possibility. That man a few years back I believe was a rarity.
