Ok, so im confused, arent elected officials supposed to represent ALL of the citizens in their jurisdictions???

why is it that soo many politicians, congressmen and women especially, commonly do things against an individual or usually a group within their jurisdictions?

I just dont get it.

I think any elected official that promotes discrimination and tries to get laws passed that will take away freedoms of people who are "different" than what they think everyone should be, should be impeached, for failure to do the rquirements of their job function.

anyone stupid enough to go on record and openly attack others that are "different" and then audacious enuff to attempt to enact laws to promote predjudice, opens themselves up to serious danger.....why do idiots like that get elected in the first place and then continue to get elected.

I wanted sooo badly to email rep floyd of TN and give him the full force of my disappointment, but what good would that do? i dont live in TN, but hes a member of congress, and that effects all of us.

Ive learned in life, there is no reasoning with idiots like that.

Why cant fools like that be impeached, I bet Coca Cola wouldnt even take him back now after he's embarrased himself publicly. thats really in essence what he did, show the world what a moron he really is.

Oh well, just needed to vent

Hugs,

Eliza

Dear Eliza,

We have come a long way from the idea of a government of the people, for the people and by the people in theory but not so much in practice - in the days of our founding fathers people was defined as male, land owners - all others were not considered capable of making the decisions needed to run a country.

Love ya,

Sally

It's money to buy media coverage that gets people elected most of the time. He who makes the most money wins and then guess who he represents so he gets the most money next time?

Those with money don't see us as having a lot of buying power or we'd be protected to the hilt. We need for the real numbers to come out. There are estimates that there are at least 200 times as many of us as officially recognized. With numbers like that we would be a consumer audience and worth cultivating by those with money. Like corporations.

I understand stealth and the need for secrecy but it's one of the ways in which it hurts us. And contributes to the need for stealth etc.. A sort of vicious cycle.

Apparently not, Eliza. Did you know most republicans believe the San Francisco is not part of the U.S.? I only say that because whenever they attack the other party, they always manage to insult San Francisco, leading me to believe that they have no interest in serving the people of that fine city in any meaningful way.

Johnny, I am with you brother, we need to unite nationwide and stand up and make our voices heard at a national level....

Natasha youre sooo right. I didnt want to infringe on anyones feelings, but I abhor republicans and their elitist-"conservative" money driven agenda. san francisco is part of the us and anyone who says its not, is promoting discrimination and damaging the economy of san fran....

some republicans can be good for our country, but i havent met any lately that are elected and support all of us.

oh well,

Sorry if i offended anyone...

Eliza

BTW, Johnny....looking good brother, looking good....hope youre doing as good....Bless you Johnny, youre an inspiration to me....

The divisivness and "me first" attitude isn't confined to national or even state politics anymore. I've seen it operate on the local level, too. City councilmembers battle each other over police deployment, accusing each other of raiding "their" stations for more blue suits; projects that could benefit the entire city with federal funds aren't done because each councilmember wants a share of funds for their district, even if their district doesn't need it much. Why do they do that? Because they are elected by only the voters of their district, and getting reelected is the most important thing.

Both the right and the left see advantage is throwing red meat to their own narrow constituency. The right seems to do it more often. It has always bothered me, but now that I am part of the meat being thrown, it bothers me a lot more. I like lions as much as the next person, but like the Jews of old, becoming their dinner isn't on my "favorite things to do" list. ^_^

I have yet to find a politician in my life interested in serving all the people. They all serve their voting blocks and even thats a balancing act because some of the groups don't like other groups supporting the same politician. I know atheist Republicans and homophobic Democrats.

I am a little confused about the word in your title there.    Defamation is a variation I know about, and it is akin to Libel and Slander in meaning, and could be the object of a court action or a couple of types.   If you are referring to the act of denying or taking away your feminine gender, ie. they keep using masculine names and pronouns or referring to you as  a "man" or "man in a dress", then yes it happens to me on rare occasion and if it is online, I simply block the moron doing it or leave the group where they are doing it, and may or may not come back if the person is there.  When people are willing to learn about Trans Folks I do give what are jokingly referred to as Trans 101 or even more in depth classes to the receptive and accepting audiences.  I DO NOT however try to teach a pig to sing, which as they say sounds like hell and annoys the pig.  If someone is invalidating your gender, get away from them safely and FAST.

My inner child likes to cuddle with Blahaj.  I know it's weird, but it works for me.

I'm not sure they can do this.  Not on line anyway.  LOL   Defamation?  Not that I personally know of.

Nice! I've found myself shopping around for astrophotography gear more than once but haven't taken the plunge yet. To close to a metro area to do it from my home.

It never occurred to me to be able to see them here in the south.   Maybe tonight if it's not cloudy.

Well, this last post brings my trans life up to date.  What happens from here is anyone's guess.  The next big milestone will be retirement, probably next year some time.  I don't think that will change things much for Sally because as I have stated previously, I am in a mostly happy place where she is concerned.    I do have a few more posts planned, as I would like to write in more detail about a few occurrences that were memorable to me.  Hopefully they will be of interest to others.    Hugs,   Sally

Has anyone been a victim of online defemination? and what to do about it?
    • Vidanjali
Yes, this is very therapeutic. You are able to see different aspects of your own personality. There is the part which has survived life thus far through decision making and lots of trial and error. That part of you is your wise and capable parent. When you feel strongly identified with the scared child in you, you can turn to the wise parent part of you whom you trust to guide you. You have faith and trust in that part of you necessarily because it has gotten you this far. Naturally, we all have room for improvement and advancement, but you can only start where you are and try to do your best with what you have to work with and deal with. But by adopting this attitude, you see that wise parental part of you become stronger, wiser, and more steadfast and skillful. Then the child in you increasingly becomes more trusting and carefree.

You want to hear coincidence? I just posted that and my neighbor just texted me and said she has been up early because there were Northen Lights outside. Then 2 seconds later I get an extreme weather alert. “We are experiencing Extreme Geomagnetic conditions observed and continued severe geomagnetic storms expected to continue through the weekend”.

No you aren't!!  There were reports from Texas, Arkansas and the Carolinas of spectacular shows last night.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime event, the best show since 1938, someone said.  Tonight is supposed to be just as good.  (OK, maybe a twice-in-a-lifetime event.  )
