Accidentally passing as a female?

Heres a weird thing thats happened to me a few times.

Not started doing anything (that people can see) visible during my transition, I don't 'try' and act female don't particuarly look female, etc, I'm not on hormones yet either, but still I have been mistaken for a girl several times. Yesterday for example these people walking past were having a bit of a joke about something and one joked with me, I just smiled and his female friend goes 'just leave her alone!' I even had 5 o'clock shadow!

Perhaps it's a good sign? It just seems so weird that here I was, very short hair, male clothes, etc. Perhaps it's my mannerisms? I have spent my life being accused of being too girly etc.

I'm not extremely manly but you can't mistake me for a girl(feet,hand,voice,etc)but it could be worse,a guy my age have a full beard and is both tall and wide,not fat,but big.But I believe that with a female haircut I could pass face-wise.

Maybe you are just androgynous looking and have soft features,that would be easier to pass with hormones.

It can happen if you look naturally feminine enough. I was in a music store a few months ago and I am sure the person at the checkout said "There you go ma'am have a nice day!" I was really taken aback by this, because i wasn't even wearing any female clothes or make up at the time. It was great!

It might be that people question my gender more often, but don't say anything for fear of getting it wrong and insulting me. It's far from an insult for me, though :-)

Have to admit the first times it happened I was a bit insulted as back then I was trying so hard to be a guy!

Think the androgynous thing is spot on, and also that's something nice to work on while transitioning, rather than going straight into being female as it likely won't happen that quick anyway. It can be fun to confuse people! Looking forward to seeing how this goes once the fem haircut comes in and later hormones!

Back in novemeber, i had been on hormones about 2 months and i wasn't out to the kids yet, so i was still more or less in guy mode with them. I had taken them to an aviation museum. My boy has asked me about something on one of the airplanes. After I explained it, on older gentleman who wad working on that airplane says to my son "Your mom is exactly right, she knows a lot about airplanes doesn't she?"

Don't worry this happened before I did anything either. It was funny as all hell! And I actually passed better back then too! O.o
