hey anna, i know what you're going through. i'm 16 and really wanted to tell someone that i crossdress. you just have to tell someone you really trust and someone that will support you. i only just came out to one of my friends the other day. i found it easier just to tell her how it was over MSN rather than to her face. It was hard but as soon as i got it off my chest i felt much better and i'm much more confident about it because there is nothing to be ashamed of.

good luck xx

I don't really have anyone like that

I told my mom, but she seems like she doesn't really want to talk about it

I only have one good friend and I'm afraid he might start avoiding me if I tell him

Hmmmm. Moms are very hard anyway with any of this stuff. It scares them cuz they don't understand and worry ad nauseum. And, since you know your friend better than we do, I would add you might be more right than wrong just cuz guys get threatened pretty easily (as opposed to girls) about their own sexuality in these kinds of conversations. Try making additional friends (you sound as if you might be able to use a few more anyway?) in the lgbt community, ones who can know that part of you and see how it feels.

Well, first let me say, you're doin okay right here :) .

"Bein social" doesn't have to be being Mr. or Ms. Popularity, you know the kind, they seem so at ease "bein in the mix" type. Believe me lol I spent the first part of my life bein "the consumate nerd", highly self conscious. In highschool I "faked" being something else. I wanted to be that "Mr./Ms. Popularity" type and so I pretended to be a LOT of things and said a lot of things that weren't me and to the naked eye everything seemed great. I was nver so miserable.... So don't think those people have everything or that things are easy. Finally- and it took me 40 years so just borrow my experience and save yourself some years lol- I found the only way to really be comfortable was just "be me" and that means "embracing" the "I don't know what to say" part also. When you do it talking and interacting seem "easy". Or at least easi-er :P and you don't have to be someone else or act like it.

B) The best thing is people will like your real actual self. And those who don't are people you didn't want to interact with any way.

Just take your time, consider this your intro into being more social cuz you you're more social now than before you came here.

Hello Anna,

Taking into consideration your age, I must say you are pretty much togther enough to be aware of yourself, that is an excellent first step in your life to come.

I know that you mentioned that you are desparate to tell someone.

First of all I think you have already taken a safe step, just by talking on the forum. If I were in your position I would stay with the forum and get the feel for talking to us first and then I think that you will begin to see how you can better do it and to whom you want to reveal it to and when. In this testing ground you can figure out whether you want to or not, and if you do, you will know better who you will feel safe revealing it too.

IN other words I think that the forum being a safe place right now would be a good way to test your wings with us. You will know in time what is right.

Always remember this is a safe place for you among friends.
