First Visit to new doctor after surgery

So I recently moved to a new town, Missoula, where everyone said that it was more accepting of transgender, gays, lesbians, etc. I went to a brand new doctor today so I had one, and she was horrible to me. She greeted me very friendly seeing a guy but once I told her my issue, that i still have ovaries, her attitude completely changed towards me. She informed me that no endocronologists would take me on because they didn't believe in gender changing, and only on gynocologist would consider me for that surgery. Even though I have my top done, she still looked at me like I was foreign. She was very rude to me. And the worst part was that after this was all over, she said, "well we are all done, ....." This is the part where you either say "well we are all done sir, or ma'am and she couldn't find the words. I have everything changed to male and look male. But in that moment I felt like a female again. It was horrible.

Sorry I had to put my feelings out there. Thanks for listening.

Completely unacceptable and I would be sorely tempted to write her a letter explaining how inappropriate and unprofessional her behavior was as well as the distress it caused you. I'd suggest she educate herself about transgender-with particular attention to the fact that the AMA now recognizes this as a physical and not a psychological condition. Essentially a birth defect that is increasingly defined around the world as an intersex condition.

Drs. are sadly human. They will reflect the general population and unfortunately that MD does not make them any wiser or better informed in many cases.

Then I'd contact the local LGBT community and find another Dr.

I am very sorry you had that experience. It is one I greatly fear myself. I suppose we all do. Of course the fault laies in her ignorance and not in who you are and how you present. But it still hurts. Maybe if you send that letter you will spare the next trans person she encounters that humiliation and pain

I am very sorry to hear you were treated this way by an alleged medical professional. I too struggled for a long time to find doctors willing to help me and prescribe me HRT. It really makes a huge difference when you find a good doctor.

The doctor I have now has no issues with using proper pronouns, asking me what name I would like to be called by, etc, that I had to ask him during one visit why he was so accepting and found it so easy when so many others turned me away and refused me. His answer was simply that he had had a long history of treating trans people and it wasn't an issue for him at all.

Maybe you should try contacting a local LGBT center and see if they can point you to a more open minded and experienced doctor.

Best of luck in your search.

I also think it was very poor manners by the Doc. I would consider a letter to the state liscencing and/or review board. Although the ramifications won't be serious, it probably will require a written response by the Doc and may help educate...

Good morning everyone,   I’ve been working on a few projects and my internet screen time has been very low. Today is Primary Election Day for Indian voters. I will be voting later, but the most important thing I’m looking forward to is the reduction of political advertising. Let’s get back to regular daytime advertising which reminds me of the need for hearing aids, Medicare choices, and comfortable catheters. Heaven forbid I would need an accident injury lawyer to get me the big check. Only daytime TV can take a 30 minute show from the 1980s and make it into an hour long series. I really don’t watch that much TV because I prefer to listen to music while I’m in the shop or doing yard work.    The coffee is good, the morning songbirds are loud as they forage for their hatches.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I pretty much started out what some would consider as the androgynous phase of childhood puberty. Being the youngest sibling in my family, I was mostly seen wearing boy clothes at the time. As I explained earlier about my parents not showing me my birth certificate until later on in life, in the meantime before that happened, my daddy always wanted a boy/son in the family. It's been a long time, when I first started menstruating, it was a turning point in my life, followed by a series of car ride returns to the emergency room, patient profiling, and misdiagnosis.      From that moment my parents had stopped saying I was going through a phase. One night at my parents' home during midnight hours, they thought I was asleep, but I saw their bedroom light was still turned on. Out of curiosity,  I tip toed to their bedroom's door as I listened in on their conversations, it was the first time I heard my parents questioned about the gender marker on my birth certificate wither a hidden variation involved in my development.

Good morning   weii I’ve read some good news here this morning    Yes the ancient Roman symbol was used on some coins. The Mercury dime come to mind. It was showing our fighting might.  Arrows and a fighting axe.  I realize few people recall the Mercury dime.  My 6th grade swore there was no such thing so I brought him one.  He had promised a dollar if I could prove it which I did. Then he tried to Welch on the bet. The entire class got on him and he had to give me the dollar.  Ah, the little things we still remember from over 60 years ago.  Like today as a i was cutting a banana for my cereal I recalled my grandfather doing the same for me about 70+ years ago.   well instead of a 9 hour day I have an 8 hour day scheduled then there is that stay a little longer to do X.
