Christian right intensifies attacks on Obama

Conservative activists escalate 'doom and gloom' rhetoric as Nov. 4 nears

Sigh <_< . Sometimes dirty politics borders on the ridiculous when it comes to playing on people's fears. I was wondering when they were going to fearmonger against gays and the candidates that support them. As Transgender people we are pretty used to this from the public. I wish the religious right would try a bigger effort to follow their own ten commandments. Why do they play the same dirty tricks over and over again? Because it works that's why. Some will believe this crap. They are willing to be dishonest for their candidate to win at any cost even though most of us just want a candidate to be honest with us. The sad part is the candidate it's being done for could stop this if they wanted to. They'd get more votes not less for showing character. Winning at ANY cost is more important. Their ought to be a law. Guess who makes them though? It's our own representives. Sheesh! Catch 22.

The world economy is in the crapper. That's what the election should be about, not gays and religious issues. Other than taxes mentioned once in the article the word "Economy" was barely mentioned. http://www.reuters.com/article/sarahPalin/...E49L51N20081025

It must be a very slow day for news if a story like that is being printed!!

I'm shocked still shocked that everytime I read an article or watch a news report in the US election from the US that your coverage is bias, uninformed and extremely contraversial. It's also unfair in my opinion to Americans looking to form a valid, informed opinion that hey can't get all the information they need, when over here in the UK our cover seems to be fair and levelled.

just my humble opinion though ^_^

I'm ashamed that the article is even true and that such things can be so routine here it seems normal.

Europe long ago seperated church from state and escaped the madness. Over here religious influence in Government is very strong and often overides common sense in our laws. One party is even built on the foundations of the Christian Right. There is a law that threatens churchs with loosing their tax exempt status if they attempt to influence elections. That didn't stop hundreds of pastors from endorsing candidates two weeks ago. Will they be charged with violating the law? Probably not.

It is strange when we impeach a President (Clinton) for lieing to cover up a private affair with an Intern while ignoring a president who started the Iraqu war while lieing about the existance of (WMD's) weapons of mass destruction and outed a spy who revealed the truth. Which is the greater crime? Besides Clinton's affair didn't cost us 10 billion a month at a time when the economy is in the toilet. All he did was leave a stain on her dress. He also left us with a surplus, not a deficit.

Over here the religious right ignores the economy and makes abortion and LGBT rights the major issues at a time when most of our wallets are empty. It's interesting to note that while most countries seperate church from state two major areas do not, the United States and the Middle East. We say they are seperate but the reality is different. Religious influence is strong everywhere right down to simple zoning laws. Trying to educate kids about safe sex to teach them to protect themselves in the schools, starts major battles everywhere. No it's better to tell them that the "Stork" brought them here from a cabbage patch.

In the last two elections (2000, 2004) They couldn't even count all the ballots from hanging chads and dimples. It's simple. You count 1, 2, 3......then add them up. Could they do that? No! Before this election even begins there are already registration issues as people are told at the last minute they are uneligible to vote. Yet we go overseas and show other countries how elections and democracy works. Of course to the Relgious right what's more important than the economy? Why abortion rights and Gay marriage of course. It's a pity that won't pay the bills or put food on the table. Maybe right wingers don't eat.

Maybe someday we will learn what you have over there. Keep religion out of Government. Maybe then we'll actually solve some REAL problems. Now that would be refreshing, wouldn't it? Nice post hon :) .

We do have separation of church and state, but we also have religious freedom. That means our politicians have the ability to have their own religions and practice them in the ways they wish. I believe they have a fundamental right to serve in their roles as politicians while using their religious beliefs as guidelines, because of their freedom of religion. I understand where you are coming from Laura, but I do find this idea of not allowing religious people in the government discriminatory. We the people elect our politicians, so it is up to us, do we want a Christian or not? It looks like the people want Christians, since they just elected one. Religious people do not all act the same, some are more supportive of certain things, while others oppose those things.

The problem is not Christianity. The problem is bigotry that tries to hide behind religion. Remember that it was not until 1995 that the Southern Baptist Convention repealed its pro-slavery stance. Bigotry of any kind needs to be exposed for what it is. Being a Christian does not make you anti-GLBT, any more than it makes you pro-slavery. Over the years we have gotten the racists, like the Klu Klux Klan, to remove their hoods. Now we need to get these haters, like these so-called Reverends, to remove their robes as well. Preachers who preach hate towards any one will suffer on Judgement Day. I know that they will say that they 'hate the sin, not the sinner", but when the "sin" is so elementally part of the "sinner", it is the same thng.

The problem is people who are so blinded to their ideology that they can not see that others are human beings. A few years ago I had a vision. In it I had died and gone to heaven. I was sitting on Jesus' lap. I asked him, "Years ago, did you plan that I should have been married to Elise (name changed to protect her identity), instead of changing my sex?" Jesus held me close and said," My child, it lead you to me." When I told that vision to one of a mega-church's "counsellors", she denied that it could be a "real" vision! It did not fit into the little box that they had put Jesus into. Lord, from such people save us.

We also need to remember the difference between hate and not being supportive. Most churches are not supportive, but that doesn't make them haters. In fact, we are being the haters since we are hating them for their ideas and beliefs. So are we better than they are? I wouldn't say we are.

Nobody is better than anyone... that being said. I think you are seeing things a bit wrong. Not totally wrong just a bit.

Most churches are not supportive, but that doesn't make them haters. That is mostly correct... the truth is closer to the fact they are selectively supportive. The selection which groups of people that its OKAY to be supportive towards leans towards historical biases... Substance Problems and Poor are people that they choose to be supportive towards now.

Mental Health and Gender Identity Issues get little support from the church... Mostly because Churches are either Don't know how to relate to or openly antagonistic of. It is the rare Church that is Openly supportive of such people.

In fact, we are being the haters since we are hating them for their ideas and beliefs. I doubt that any of us hate the churches for their beliefs and Ideas... especially since we hold many of those Ideas and beliefs ourselves. I personally have issues with several churches for how they enact their beliefs and act in the public eye, as well as some of my personal history with them.

Hating Open antagonistic and 'how do we deal with you?' actions amongst actions that are clearly QUESTIONABLE in most peoples' books even amongst the religious types that Churches tend to favor is very understandable and human. Do as I say, not as I do is a favorite course of action with Churches. because they Do not live up to the Lofty Ideals that they aspire to.

Many Beliefs have QUESTIONABLE followers and leaders. However the Christian Beliefs tend to be the ones that get noticed the most, I think. Thats not saying that they are better or worse beliefs... just that they have more people getting noticed applying those beliefs and Ideas Questionably.

I personally wonder how and why the Christian belief survived 2000 years. Especially when its Followers and Leaders say things like "It is a Sin to be ..... the bible says it is right here...." and take one out of context statement and whip others like themselves into a frenzy over it, or when they say "Those poor uneducated peoples who don't know the glory of god... " and make it a crusade to Take it upon themselves to teach said peoples the Christian Beliefs despite the fact they may or may not have had their own religion already. But because it was not Christian it is inferior and wrong... Therefore that people must be saved from their own ignorance... If it kills the people and destroys their culture or not.

In the end We are human and in a hundred years who is right and/or wrong doesn't matter because the current crop of idiots (humanity) will be dead and gone. The Churches will either survive, thrive or not given a hundred years. lets just hope that the next crop of idiots (humanity, again) don't latch on to the Practice of applying beliefs and ideas with the same IGNORANCE and Questionable Motives like Previous Crops of Idiots (Humanity yet again) have.

Faith is a good thing, tempered with reason... its made better. Applied with wisdom and compassion it is made greater yet.

I admire those that hold their beliefs with such reverence and Faith that they are Made better people through them. I abhor those that use their beliefs to prove their superiority and persecute those different than themselves for Questionable motives with uncaring disregard based solely on their 'faith'.

In the forward I learn that transgenderism is bad, and somewhere else that transgender ideology is bad.  I have not yet read a definition of either in the document.  I assume they are the same.  I know Focus on a Family has a definition of transgenderism on their website, or did, but I am not sure this is the same as that.  I might agree that transgenderism is bad if they use a definition I condemn (e.g. transgenderism means you always pour ketchup in your shoes before you put them on - I could not agree to that).  Is someone who believes in transgenderism, whatever it is, a transgenderist? I never see that term.  There may be other definitions out there, but I don't think there is an Official Definition that we all agree to.

Crazy fact, was gonna go to the school where this went down at before I moved, have a lot of friends there. I know at least one of my friends met the guy on one occasion, not knowing who it was.

They are thinking of Loudon.  The problem there was the girls were not protected from a known predator, who was moved from one school to another instead being effectively disciplined.  Outlaw school administrators? <sarc>

How ironic.  I agree with the governor "“You cannot change your gender; you cannot pick your gender…there is a confused group of people that somehow think you can,”    - we are what we are, we are fighting the fact we CANNOT change our gender, which we did not pick.  Many if not all of us would not have picked a trans condition and have sought to evade, deny or move out or resolve it anyway we can.  Those who are confused on this issue are not trans folk.  They want us to change our gender but they deny we can.  Confusion.

@FinnyFinsterHH no one can satisfy your questions about what will the future hold. But I can advise you to slow your mind down as much as you're able. Take it slow and one moment at a time. This advice goes beyond the practical reality that that's truly all you can do - further, try to enjoy each moment. It's clear you have a lot of aspirations regarding transition. But it's best to try to accept the bounds of your life circumstances at present because if you develop worries or even resentments about them, that will only make you bitter and more anxious. Instead, try to focus on anything you find affirming. Practice positive self-talk and give yourself affirmations too. Try to let go of expectations of your family members - they can only deal with change to the capacity they're able due to their own life conditions. Allow them grace as you wish they would allow you. Practice patience.   Try this exercise - read through your post and make one list of the positive developments and another of things you cannot control (including the future). If you have a sense of spirituality, offer the second list as a sacrifice to however you understand a higher power - leave it in their hands. If you're not spiritual, then offer it up to hope. Then throw that list away. Keep the list of positives and leave some room on it because guaranteed you'll have more and more to add. Look forward to that, but don't let your mind think it can rush things. Try to enjoy the ride.

I still have not read much of this.  Very little of this document pertains to trans folk.  Some of the statements are more than problematic concerning trans folk.   It certainly was not written just to get us.   " those with gender dysphoria should be expelled from military service."  and "Reverse policies that allow transgender individuals to serve in the military. Gender dysphoria is incompatible with the demands of military service,"  https://static.project2025.org/2025_MandateForLeadership_CHAPTER-04.pdf are two lines out of hundreds if not thousands regarding the Department of Defense, targeting trans folk in an almost off-hand manner.    So if a fighter pilot, say, or a ship's captain, highly experienced and trained at enormous expense, is determined to be transgender (method unknown) the US loses someone badly needed due to the personnel shortage who is ready, willing and able to perform their duties.  Many trans folk have served well and transitioned later.  I don't think this point is well thought out.    A number of policy recommendations I would disagree with.  I am not sure there is a method to discuss those with the authors; I am attempting to find out.  I have good conservative creds.    They are fully intending to implement this, regardless of who the president is, as long as that president is conservative. It is not Trump centered.  I don't think he had anything to do with it.

I wear a Delimira Mastectomy sleep bra with Vollence sleep rated breast forms. The form fit inside pockets so they don't touch your skin. I bought the bras on Amazon and found the forms on eBay. They were much less expensive than buying through the other sources.

I don't wear a bra to bed.  The girls aren't big enough to need it, but still enough to appreciate.  Just a flannel nightgown suits me fine.

Yeah, that is the point.  And of course they can be proud of themselves for saving humanity.   Yeah.  That would be scary.  I'd find a bush somewhere like our GOP governor candidate recommends.  So far I've gotten away with the women's.  I've been told I pass better than I realize.  But it would only take one a55h0le.   This is all so stupid.  I mean, who gets off on hanging out in a bathroom?

Oh yes. It was not fun cleaning it up but he is better.
