I Froze

Ok this is more of an update on my visit to the clinic last week. I finally saw my old doctor at the clinic, not that she is old of course, so she went over my blood work that was done a couple of weeks ago. Everything came back normal and good. She then asked me what regimen I would like to go on, I was currently taking the pills. She said she is leaving it up to me what I want to take, all methods are just effective she informed me, although the injections and patches go directly into the blood stream. I am not beating myself up over this anymore but I froze at that moment, I did not know what to choose. I ended up staying on the pills and she added Spironolactone at a low dose to start. I go back to see her next month, let's see.....I AM NOT GOING TO FREEZE THIS TIME. I want to go on the injections, this is what I am going to need to demand and be assertive in saying so.

Good thing is that I am feeling a lot better inside since I started the Spiro, more energy level, did not have that when I was just taking Estrogen alone.

Hugs,

Susan

Don't worry about it too much. It's a doctor thing. A lot of people "freeze" when talking to their doctors. We keep pads and pens for our patients to write down their questions so they'll be able to get them addressed when the doctor comes in. You might try writing out your concerns/desires and have it with you for your next appointment just in case.

Don't be too tough on yourself that you froze like that Susan. Big questions like that can take you by surprise and make you panic just coz it's not what you expected to hear right then, even if you've thought good and long about what your answer will be when you do hear it. It's good that you're prepared to go back and say what you really want next time you go though. I hope your doctor lets you change over to the injections when you ask.

That can happen. But you can think this way - doctors are there to help you, and you explain how you feel and what you want. They then decide if it is or is not harmful to you and usually let you do it if it is okay. I like the idea of writing what you want down on paper before you meet with the doctor.

Thank you. Yes writing down what I want to ask the doctor sounds like a very good idea, thank you for that suggestion Karen.

Susan
