I've been getting disturbingly dry elbows, and it's driving me over the edge with itchiness. I'm not actually sure if this is related to the HRT, but it's consistent with the fact that lower testosterone means less oily skin.

In any case, can anyone recommend a *really* good moisturizer??? I'm currently using an oatmeal and shea butter moisturizer, and it does help, but it just doesn't last very long.

Hi Shilo, don't know if it will work for you, but I use Ponds dry skin cream. If that does not work, I have used Suave anti-dandruff conditioner, which I also put on my legs before shaving, hope this helps.

I use Aveeno. The kind with the oatmeal in it. I find it works best for me.

I'm an expert!

I've had terminal psoriasis for twenty five years....(ok, not terminal, but, sometimes I wished it was!)

I've used every type of topical lotion known to man......

Vaseline.......It stays on, softens the skin, and is non allergenic.....

The VA thinks that my horrid psoriasis may be related to my exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam and now has me on a VERY potent drug called Enbrel....I get two shots in the stomach a week......with a long needle, too.....

The psoriasis which covered 75-80% of my body is now mostly cleared up......

Of course there are serious side effects....I get morning sickness and it shuts down my auto-immune system....so, I have to be VERY careful!

Huggs & LUCK!

Try the Vaseline....ok?

Okie...vaseline is cheaper than the other suggestions, so I'll try that first, but I dont' know if I'll be able to keep it up, because I hate anything greasy on my skin!

Something I saw on TV once that works for me:

Get a pair of old socks and cut the toes out of them. Put something like Vaseline on your elbows and then put the socks on your arms before you sleep.

I also like Burt's Bees which is similar to Vaseline or my grandmother uses something called Bag Balm which could work too.

Good luck!

Risu, I saw the same thing for soft feet, except you *don't* cut the feet out :P I might actually try that, that way I don't have to have it on in the waking hours when it will DRIVE ME BANANASSSSSS!!!

Um, would that result in sleep-walking on your hands? Or maybe athletes hands? :o

Or...... (stop that, Carolyn! Bad girl!! :doh1: )

Ok....Honey...This s a real product...and It's awesome.....Bag Balm....

It was first used years ago on dairy farms....it's rubbed on cow's udders to prevent them from cracking and bleeding from dryness for milking.....

The farmers wives started to notice that the farmers hands got really smooth and soft.....

It's less greasy than Vaseline (it's actually a lanolin)......

Lookie here......I have also used this product for years!

At least your elbows itching is something you cna scratch in public. Yay HRT related itchiness!

Bobbi

I'm not sure and certainly not an expert. But that HRT related itchies can be bad. Maybe I'll pack my bra with that Bag Balm stuff.
