Late night, double feature, trucker show

So today was an interesting day. It started by me over sleeping. That's never a good thing. I wake up, respond to dispatch who was expecting me to be ready at 5am. Well here it is 8a and I have 25 messages on my in-truck computer and 3 voice mails wondering where the hell I am. I can't believe I slept that late, too. wow!

I get dressed and ready and drive over to Steak n Shake for breakfast. As they're making brekkie (I think that's a British term?) I scoot inside the bathroom and brush my teeth. Eat breakfast, head over to the terminal, get my paperwork. Load doesn't deliver until 9pm tonight. 300 miles away. Well I have a little time to kill. I go into the office and do my rounds of talking to office people that I know. I go back outside to the smoker's area and there's a trucker friend who I've met a few times before.

Now let me preface this by saying he knew me while I was only living part-time and one particular evening I was sitting outside with a few guys, and me in guy clothes, and a friend of mine pulls up and she goes "Liz!....Liz!" I didn't hear her but someone else did and they're like "Who's Liz?" So I try to play it off and say "I dunno but I see a pretty girl so I'm gonna go check it out!" Well one guy saw right through that..this guy who I'm talking about with today's event. He knows I'm transitioning.

Well today he saw me walking up to the smoker's area and he says "Hey there! How ya been?" We got to talking and he told me that when he first saw me, he didn't recognize me at first and he admitted he was checking me out. Then he realized it was me and he thought "Aw s***!" He asked if anyone around here knew about me and I told him no, and that I plan to keep it that way. He told me (and I believe him) that he will not tell anyone as it's none of his business. :)

I was telling him about the waitress at the truck stop in Santa Rosa and how she said I don't look like a truck driver. Well he confirmed that, no, I really don't. I told him I do that on purpose but it could also be why I have such a hard time getting anyone's attention for my pick ups or deliveries: they probably think I work in the office!

So my time at the terminal was filled with being referred to as she and her so of course I'm happy as a lark. I honestly cannot believe passing as a woman has been this easy for me. It makes me smile every day.

Later today I was in Napoleon OH at a truck stop that also has an Indian menu. Being how rare that it is I get to try the stuff, I stopped here for dinner. I was talking to the waitress (who was this cute little thing but I still contend she was wearing too much blush, but I digress) I was asking her about some of the menu items and what the differences are. She didn't know so she went to the back to ask the lady who actually cooks it. I over heard her say "(whatever the woman's name is)..there's this lady...." that's all I heard really. After I heard "there's this lady" I tuned out and went to my happy place to do a little victory dance in my head.

The rest of the day could have been lousy and it wouldn't matter based on those few events that happened earlier today. Actually part of the rest of my day was lousy but hearing I was referred to as "this lady" was the last happy moment in my head so I just replayed that a few times tonight.

I absolutely love hearing about your adventures and experiences on the road. Please keep them coming. Stay safe on the road and if you ever head west on I-70 and are traveling through Columbia Mo, give me a shout. Katheryn

Ya know...that was about 2-3 days ago.

I don't stop there because I think the closest truck stop is the one that has it's own show on Travel Channel that shows all the weird people that stop at the truck stop, so I'm not giving them the pleasure of getting me on that show.

:)

We work so hard, worry so much and when it becomes a reality we wonder how it could possibly be that easy and fast

:D

Perception is a funny thing. But is is so worth it when we do get there! Glad you have reached that point

Lizzie, your posts always make me smile. And they make me think forward to someday when I'll eventually be out full time. I plan to keep asking myself "What would Lizzie McTrucker do?" when faced with a tough spot, and then grin and do it! :D

That's pretty much it! Either grin and do it or grit your teeth and do it. Either way, the important thing is: just do it!

...uh, do I have to pay Nike for saying that?

I have found some people correlate TG = child predator ... just as some have correlated homosexual = child predator...    I am baffled by the TG = unsafe connection ... my wife tends to think this way, that this is all about sexual deviancy ... I try to ask how my preference for wearing frilly socks with embroidered flowers and a comfortable camisole under my lavender T-shirts is sexually deviant (or sexual anything) but I don't get very far...

Not sure.  The perp is a minor.  The problem here is NOT transgender, the problem here is incompetent and criminal administration.  See https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/family-of-loudoun-co-student-sexually-assaulted-ineptitude-of-all-involved-is-staggering/3231725/ It is more than annoying that people think the problem here is TG and that other people think the solution is some stupid statewide law.  Like an appendectomy to deal with an ingrown toe nail.    Since Loudon, I recall a boy was asked not to use the girl's restroom at a high school by one of the girls.  He, overwhelming her with height and weight,  assaulted her, claiming he had a right to be there.   Later I think eight girls beat him severely in another girl's restroom.  Again the problem is not transgender, the problem is assaults in restrooms and common courtesy.  TG is used as a smokescreen and it seems to paralyze thought among administrators who do not want to do anything to provoke controversy.

Time to get with your Primary Care doctor and be referred to a neurologist or an orthopedist.  It could be many things, too many for any of us here to guess at.

Other than the Boy Scout motto, oath, and law. I use two:   When asked how I'm doing? In all honesty I reply. I would have to make something up to complain. If asked to explain further: I reply. I know someone is having a tougher time than I am, and I pray God blesses them.   I also recite this quote that I have tagged in my signature: Courage, doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."-Unknown    Saying these things daily keep me motivated.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

If this goes on, I am conceding the real possibility of being stopped in WM or somewhere by a concerned citizen who tells me, "Lady, God made you female.  I don't think you should be trying to look like a man. You need to return to your true gender and be comfortable living your life out as a woman."   Begin odd and awkward conversation.  I have been thinking about this this morning.

There are many MAGA GOP types who are not transphobes, of course. Some MAGA GOP types are transgender.

I'm hoping to read the next section today.  Many of the reforms they are calling for are good, such as expediting the military procurement process, and have nothing to do with transgender issues.

Good afternoon,    I have a young friend who is vegetarian and married to a full on meat eater. They have two areas of their grill clearly designated for their different cooking requirements. When she’s cooking she uses tongs or chopsticks to handle any meats. When he’s cooking he respects her request not to cook her meals on the side where meat has been. They get along fine and respect each other.    When she attends our house, she usually brings her own food, but knows I will clean my grill to meet her requirements. We love and respect her commitment to be vegetarian. I love that she trusts me to make her comfortable when visiting us. There are ways to make it work.    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I was going to call it Numbness, then I realised well.. it isn't. basically, yeah, it isn't.   this only happens to me sometimes. I'll be lying down and my legs will.. well, I guess lock?   If I straighten them out, they will unlock- when I roll over again, they will lock again. this lasts for around 10/ 15 minutes I guess   it's not pins and needles either
