Knew they accepted you when..?

I know not everyone has felt accepted, but for any who have, when did you know that person truly accepted you?

For me it was:

When I came out, all my friends just looked at me and said 'so? you're just you.'.

When my boyfriend came shopping with me, went away and came back with 2 shirts - one masculine, one feminine.

When my brother gave me some new boxers when I went to visit my parents because he knew I wouldn't have brought any.

Good Topic!

When a girlfriend (girl to girl type) took my hand for some reason, stopped suddenly and said, "Your hands are so soft' (hesitation) then smiled, and used that "B" word women use with each other!

When women at church started a conversation, and we all went into the lady's room, and the conversation just kept going, like it was no big deal.

When women in the perfume counters at Macy's started running up to me to show a new product. Also when they wanted me to stop for a makeover at the cosmetic counters.

When one of the guys at PFLAG first gave me a sweet kiss on the cheek.

When my kids would tell a story saying, "My dad, she...."

When I started loving myself, again.

.

Acceptance was like boiling a frog.......

If you drop a frog into boiling water, he'll jump right out!

If you put him in cool water and slowly bring it to a boil, he'll never notice and boil to death.....

My acceptance is the second frog....

I thought I had accepted from the beginning when my partner first told me and I went out and got her some clothes . But after many emotions I belive I truely accepted months later when in my Heart i knew it was never going to be the same that the husband I had no longer was there . I think that's when my true acceptance of my partner really happened .

Lets see...

When my Aunt was introducing me to her fellow church members as her Nephew Alder.

I was invited out to guys night by a friend :)

When one of the friends I was most scared to tell said nothing but "I'm so happy/proud for you hun! <3"

When my Gramma was still thrilled to hear I wanted to visit this fall :)

and mostly, when my daughter crawls into my lap while I'm having to explain why I look how I do to another child and says "That's because mommy is a boy" with lots of pride and love in her voice.

When my friend said boldly in front of her husand "You are a hansome woman!" and her husband agreed. When my H.S. English teacher responded (after I came out) "That she had never been prouder of me. " When my guy friend who was freaked out by the double mastectomy said "I looked great." When one of my best friend's calls me "Uncle." It's usauly kind of silly stuff like that this that means a lot.

When I said to my high school roommate "I'm transgender" and he raised his hand for a high five. I had been childishly building it up for a few days, though. "I've got something to tell you. NO! I can't. If you guess I'll let you know. No, I'm not gay. Yes, it's sort of medical. No, I'm not dying..." He was just happy to finally find out what it was!

Wow, what a great topic idea!

Well, I have only come out to the friends I absolutely know would accept me, so I feel like i'm cheating a little bit in writing these, but these are the points in time when I got over my doubt about who I told...My mind likes to argue with itself :/

When my Significant Other bought me a pair of breast forms for my birthday, and when her eye lit up with attraction.

When my best friend invited me and my heels out to one of his favorite bars. I only recently found out he is gay, so I feel honored.

When my ex-girlfriend, yet really close friend told me that it didn't surprise her. As soon as I mentioned it, everything made sense.

When I finally tell my parents, (maybe today?) They are great, understanding people, but I don't feel free until they know. :/

There are 293 ways to make change for a dollar. The average person's left hand does 56% of the typing (when using the proper position of the hands on the keyboard; Hunting and pecking doesn't count!). A shark is the only known fish that can blink with both eyes.

I haven't taken blockers since the surgery.

Good morning   well its big bike week this week American/Canadian made. Followed almost immediately with metric bike week.  And let’s not forget the Myrtle Beach Classic golf tournament last week.  Our business has been very busy. So much so I need to leave earlier to make certain I get my work done before I have too many people in the tpstore and can’t get it done.   Hi ho silver and away   Willow

I guess this was commonplace in females. But if your prostate gland is still in place this can contribute to urinal difficulties too.

https://www.hrw.org/news/2024/05/15/peru-chooses-bigotry-medical-services     The Health Ministry tried to put the best face on this unscientific gibberish of a decree, but it won't diminish the harm it will do to the Pervian trans community.  They undoubtedly already suffer from severe discrimination and bigotry in a very macho-opriented society.   Carolyn Marie

I'd never heard of it until reading this.  From the thread title I thought it had something to do with the state of Idaho.  But perhaps combined with something about Hobbits, which seemed odd.  My brain goes in weird directions.

I had my surgery 11 years ago, and yes, I too find it much more of an urgent thing than it ever was before.  One possible culprit is going to be T blockers if you are still on them, also the urethral sphincter which holds the pee back is closer to the urethral opening now and more subject to stimulation. When we gotta go we gotta goooooo!!

I notice that the Wikipedia article does not mention the U.S.A. which I can understand a bit.  The entire month of June here is Pride Month for all the organizations and is tied to the 1969 Stonewall Inn riots in New York and also our medical authorities are also not tied as thoroughly to the WHO as they are to the American Psychological and American Psychiatric Associations which write the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health which is generally in line with the WHO which does not play as big a part in our medical practices here.  The WHO does not impact us the way it does the other world countries which is why we are in the dark about the day.  Ironically though, one of the U.S. States is named Idaho which sadly is one of the most conservative and frustrating to the U.S. LGBTQ Community.   The day is international though in the sense of other European and Southern Hemisphere countries it seems.

Hmm. Must have been that pesky 'International' word which made me assume that it was well known! I only became aware of it myself last year.   Brief history: May 17th is the day IDAHOBIT is acknowledged as it is the anniversary of when in 1990 the World Health Organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. It was conceived in 2004 and first celebrated in 2005. It has gone on to include trans folk in 2009 and bi folk in 2015.   International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia - Wikipedia

A year and a half post op. I've noticed that once the urge to pee hits, I can only hold it for about 15 minutes or so until it gets to the point where I feel like I'm going to piss myself. I used to be able to hold it a lot longer (as I  remember it).  I know my urethra is a bit shorter now, but I don't think it is enough to account for this. Am I imagining it?

What a great moment @Vidanjali! It's always so cool knowing people are reading you in a way you want to be seen.

It's also networking.  Sometimes jobs come along because someone knows someone else - these older people might know someone.  "Hey, Ashley," someone might say,"My nephew is looking for love. He likes tall women. Whatcha think? Can he call you?"   Don't discount their ability to match make.  It is about networking.

He is simply doing to get more votes. He held a Trump for trans during his first run and found out the majority of his voters were against us so he simply followed the crowd.
