I really wish I knew what to say to make you feel better, sweetie, but I know I can't even imagine what you must be feeling :( I sincerely hope you find what you need to keep healthy. Try working on a hobby, or log in to the chat rooms. Do you have someone you can call to help you through it? Just having someone else to be with can help take your mind off things, sometimes.

Wow.. I saw your post & something in my heart told me that I should reply to it... You need advice....

Well, I have never took any drugs in my whole life BUT I have sold a few drugs in my lifetime SADLY!! I regret selling drugs.. I am a ex drug-dealer so I know what it looks like when someone is highly addicted to something... It's horrible.... Drugs ruin people lives....

My advice to you is to talk to someone trusted about it 101.....

I go to AA and when i need it i go to more meetings. A meeting always makes me feel better. You must have a sponsor, call. The phone isn't that heavy.

In AA we have GLBT meetings. They have helped me to know myself. You would be welcome there as an addict i'm sure. We have addicts at my meetings. Best of luck and your doing the right thing by reaching out. There is a chatroom meeting here on Sun. At 9:00 pm eastern. Hope to chat with you there. Keep posting it helps!

Hugs, Charlie

Keep yourself distracted from the emotions. Do something you like, like reading or listening to music, whatever you can do.

I know that nicotine isn't comparable when it comes to addictiveness, since withdrawals for heroin is crazy, but eating something

sweet also seems to help, at least for some time.

You will get through this, no matter what.

The thoughts never go away, I was clean for 5 years. I started my transition and the urges started coming back but it is because I was not proactive in my transition. I am trying to be more proactive but I suffer from major anxiety issues so doing drugs made that go away. I am using again and I feel like crap because of it, but it is the only way that I can cope. Speaking from personal experiences it is not worth it, it so easy to start but can take years to stop, I wished that I had reached out maybe I wont be back in the same spot I was in 6 years ago.

Stay strong

Lily, relapses happen and are not a cause for shame or further stress, but they are cause for getting active in a recovery situation.

The number of NA and AA groups that welcome us as we are have been growing and even better, working for us. The idea of having a real life human there for us in the form of a sponsor, or just a good coffee buddy will help you immensely to get past your cravings, and even current using. Google up NA with your zip code, and they will list GLBT groups probably within a few minutes of your home, and some of them will send someone over to help you get out, and over your anxiety. It is people helping people to turn a craving for destruction into a craving for life and happiness.

If you really feel like using and would like some help for the moment, head on over to Chat where the moderators can take you aside and work with you to find a way to keep from harming yourself by using. On Sunday nights at 9PM eastern time we have an AA / NA chat that is specifically for us Trans Folk, and yes, if our group conscience says that getting busy with your transitioning will help you stay sober, we absolutely will be there for you on your way up the steps to joy.

Lily, please know that you are not alone. Vicki has hit it so well but i only want to add that despite being a total wreck 6 years back i've managed through the program to free myself and now live beyond my wildest dreams. i could not do it alone and the help i found in the rooms has saved my life.

Hugs,

Charlie

I'm sorry to have posted such a quick response but i was late to a Trans skype meeting with some wonderful mtf and ftm folks from around the world. It is possible to confront gender issues without using and you will find examples of that all around Laura's. Please come chat with us on Sunday. Weare here for each other and our hands are reaching out and always will slips or no slips.

Hugs,

Charlie

Try going to a methadone clinic it will satisfy the craving without the high. But it sounds like you're not going through physical withdrawal it sounds to me like you just enjoy the feeling. I would talk to a doctor maybe they can help you figure out if methadone would help. Also I hear that AA helps people who are going through intense drug cravings. Or CA cocaine anonymous which is focused more on the heavier drugs.

I've got some good news and some bad news for you.

The good news is that since you only used once, you can be sure you're not physically addicted. So your craving is just due to your memory of how it made you feel and you want to feel that way again.

The bad news is that the memory never goes away. I first shot up when I was 14 and finally kicked when I was 18. I was clean for over 20 years, and thought that it was mostly behind me. That was until I was given a shot of morphine in the ER one day a few years ago. I almost completely fell off the wagon after that. I still have cravings, I still dream about it, I still wonder every time I pass certain places in town whether the guys there are holding. I still have a box full of syringes in my closet.

Sometimes the only reason I have to keep myself from using again is knowing that if I did, I'd shortly end up dead. And I have too much to live for right now.

Kaylee, I think your experience is true for all. My mind will always remember the drugs or the highs i've felt. Some scare me now but some still call. Walking by a cigarette smoker can either be disgusting or totally appealing. It is all in my mind now. The physical addiction is gone but the craving remains. That is perhaps the most scary for me with alcohol. My addiction to it took me completely. Now i understand that power and attend AA meetings on a regular basis to remind me of my powerlessness. I also have phone numbers to call when the cravings hit me. They may be farther apart with time but as an addict i know they will always play a role in my life. As addicts we must realize we are really without control but we can get support from others. The good things about the mental craving is that it often seems t disappear if i talk to another sober addict. I do hope you have a support network should you need it.

Hugs,

Charlize

methadone kills! If your kicked you know it if your not suboxone till you are. I don't know how bad your run was, one time, "why can't I believe that?" if thats true you never got strung out prolly just pewed, and a good nod.

I hate to tell you this and should not, BUT THE TRUTH, MY TRUTH IS . . . . you never get over it, I don't know what it is about heroin. . . it steals a part of you and you never get it back. "My dark passenger, dexter morgan". You can however control it a day at a time, Talk about it in process group if your in treatment, sign up for aftercare . . .go to meetings! TALK ABOUT IT not just here, ask god/higher power to remove it. god bless, Clear

Not to bump this up or anything, but I just want to put one more note on the end of this...   Thank you for allowing me to post this here and thank you for all who have responded.  This step has been a huge help to me on my political journey.  I've made several key decisions in the last few days that allow me to run a better campaign for the next 4 years.  I worked my way off of the streets 20 years ago by writing math and computer programming on paper.  10 years later I was able to buy a house with the software engineering work that I was doing.  Now 20 years after getting off of the streets and having two failed bids for US Representative and likely another failed bid in the next couple weeks, I've come to the point of selling my house to run a very frugal campaign for vice-president (it's a thing even though it is an appointed position) for the next 4 years, all on the money I have earned from that work I did on the streets.   My policy going forward is that I'm not going to ask for money and I'm not going to ask for people's votes.  The vice-presidency is an appointed position.  I'm also not going to run for legislative offices anymore.  I'm simply going to tour the country on my own dime looking for good people and a strong millennial female who sees my logic and would like to be president.   I have reached out to tens of thousands of people on my own dime in the last 7 years.  Famous people, ultra-famous people, business leaders, civil engineers, random people, news people, educators, unions, politicians.  I certainly got less than 5 emails from those efforts.  Actually, I only really remember one person.  He is an educator and we had a good Zoom meeting.   I'm not bitter.  I'm not complaining.  Those of you who have followed me on this site know I like to keep things positive and talk about cooking and living healthy.  I hope that this post doesn't get buried.  I think the title is strong and my message is clear.  I don't want to bog this site down with the details of the whole thing.  I simply want people to know that there is a transwoman working to be vice-president.  Notice that I didn't title this a-transwoman-as-us-respresentative.  My politics are executive level.  I'm a whistleblower, not a complainer.  I aim to educate and inspire.

Society is preserved by passing on proper roles for people, which works for the 90+ percent that it works for.   We were all taught from an early age that breaking out of the classification was a shameful thing, even when, actually, it is not.
    • Abigail Genevieve
I'm probably showing my age.  I haven't looked at a guest count in a long time.  Doing FB and staying off forums for a while.  Previous forum use had fewer bots if any and guests were actual people, mostly, unlike today.    Any AIs or bots struggling with GD are welcome.  I would love to read your introduction.

I've seen this on a lot of forums tbh. That's how a lot of content ends up on internet archives. You've got loads of bots scanning the site at all times and archiving it. Forums are actually nice (in comparison to social media) in that the guest count gives you a pretty good idea of how actively the site's content is being archived. Basically just don't post anything you don't want archived.

Kids are resiliant with therapy and strong support ;-)    They were all elementary age when their dad died and are teens now, and how they've grown and developed as young people, already, takes my breath away.   I'm working on communicating changes clearly and without shame, which is difficult basically all the time because of feeling guilty over doing gender "wrong" for so long. Working on that myself! <3

Allow me to add that people should think twice about posting pictures of themselves, with the facial recognition software that is out there.  Those in stealth or who are not fully out may discover they are suddenly and unwillingly fully out in ways they wish had not happened.

Funny how when i read the topic name i thought you were asking about the study of plants and animals.  I'm a bit into that as a farmer at va time when a cell phone makes plant  for insect identification easier than it has ever been.    Now on to your topic.  I don't farm in the nude.  I have wondered at whether i would skinny dip as i did as a kid without thought of how my body might affect others.  The effects of hormones makes me different from the average person and perhaps i'm "neither fish nor fowl".  I would certainly depend on who my fellow passengers on that cruise would be.   Hugs,   Charlize

This is also a relatively small forum and it can take a long time, seemingly, for someone to get around to replying to a post.
    • Charlize
I am also pretty sure that several of them are folks who are "trans curious".  Sometimes folks who are trying to find their own identity, are attracted to trans folks or who are simply interested in the trans community.   There may also be some who wish to do us harm which is why ......... I've just learned to smile figuring "i'm on candid camera".   I'm sure many of our younger members never experienced that show so my age is showing.   Hugs,   Charlize

Most of those "guests" are web bots from China, Indonesia, France etc. looking us over. They are mostly benign.  All they can see or gain access to are the general forums.  Members should be careful not to post anything that could readily identify themselves such as real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. They do not have access to our gallery, blogs or private messenger. They seem to haunt all forums. Not just us. I should add that they can make us known across the internet. That's how prospective members find us. Google would be a good example.
