First Time Out Tonight

I spent nearly two hours at the Goodwill this afternoon picking out some beautiful dresses, and scouring the racks for blouses, skirts, and shoes. I was in there so long the gentleman who checked me out thought I worked there! I used the dressing rooms, and while I violated the "3 items per customer" rule, the dressing rooms were open and not many people there (bonus!), so I tried on dress after dress, skirts and blouses. I was already wearing my favorite boy shorts, a camisole and *pearls* under my mock-T sweater and jeans, so I was alone in my undies trying on ladies garments to my heart's delight. OMG was it exhilirating! Came away with a whole rack full of beautiful ladies clothing for under $40.

I came home, and tried on all my outfits again, laid out what would rock it tonight, and then I showered, shaved (I also have been shaving my underarms lately, makes me feel more feminine), primped, and applied my makeup - foundation, eye shadow, mascara, powdered blush, and deep red lipstick, tucked myself into nice shaping support panties, bra with my forms, black patterned tights, and dressed in a black miniskirt, 3" black heels, and a fabulous embroidered red long-sleeve blouse. Two strands of pearls, long and short, pearl bracelet, and my blond wig, a small black clutch purse, and honey I was ready to hit the disco!

The Club Odyssey is a "rainbow" club in west Winston-Salem, NC - I chose it because I figured if there was anywhere I could go all dressed to the nines and get a nice drink without getting hassled, it was the Odyssey. When I arrived, it was about 12:30am (a little late, but took a girl a while to get ready AND to make up her mind she actually was going to do this!), strutted up to the door in my heels with authority, like I've been practicing, paid my cover at the door, and there were probably 500-600 people there dancing, drinking, flirting. I saw a few other CDs, and I must say, they looked fabulous - made me feel a little self-conscious, actually, but I was there to bring it, so I strode up to the bar, ordered a Chivas on the rocks, and edged over to the dance floor to check out the scene.

I met a few people tonight, it was a very friendly, and welcoming atmosphere that really put me at ease, nothing but a positive experience for me - I met Julie, who told me she thought I looked really pretty, and that I fit right in - WOW, that felt so, so good. Her boy friends called me sweetie, and kissed me goodnight on the cheek, true gentlemen. Knowing I have a safe place to get dressed up and go to if I want really gives me a sense of freedom that I wasn't able to realize hiding at home dressing in private, and keeping to myself.

Hee hee - it was really a lot of fun, a bit scary too . . . as for "young", I'm 41 sweetie - I certainly feel young, but under my blond wig there's a lot of gray, and I have about 15 lbs to lose before I feel like I'll be really looking the way I know I can - but a girl can dream! I hope to be looking even better next time!

The 40's can definately be hot ages. Not only did I once have a supervisor (I was in my 20's) that was like 48 who I daily entertained sorted thoughts regarding, but I also (I was 24) met this HOT woman once , and it wasn't till after I made out with her got to know her better that I found out she was in truth 42. Hot. Still hot in memory.

Right on, Evan. I think we can be hot whatever our age - I felt pretty hot Saturday night, there was a lot of sexuality (of all stripes, LGBT) on display and in the air, for sure, and I felt, "wow, I can really pull this off!" I wasn't so hung up about "passing" in that environment, I was actually "made" pretty quickly by one young lady as soon as I stepped up to the bar, others looked twice, and three times even. Cute, huh?

I hear what you are saying. My first night out was after three months of intense self debate. The question I grilled myself over was "Should I or shouldn't I" Of course I concluded with "Let's do this!"

On the night I planned, Imade sure that I had the next day off work just to be safe. I took must be like three hours to get ready. I got as far as panties, bra and nylons, but couldn't decide on the outer wear. After 45 minutes of trying on and retrying outfits, I took a break went into the kitchen got a drink and sat down to calm down. My emotions were in overdrive, excitement and anxiety doing a rumba in my chest. Once I calmed down I was able to go back and spend another half hour going over what I already went over and finally decided on something to wear. It was simple and practical, dark navy blue pleated mid thigh skirt and a white t-sweater.

Next I called a cab and had the driver take me to the local LGBT lounge in my city. Once I got in the door, it seemed like a much bigger place than what one would expect from the outside. I froze for a moment and no sooner than I sat down at the bar, someone came over and introduced themselves to me. This was another cd who took me back to a table with four other people, one lgbt friendly man.

Needless to say I enjoyed myself and they helped put me at ease a little there and the whole night was probably the best night I can think of. I even got asked for a dance that night. Instead of exploding with anxiety, I was exploding with excitement.

I was terrified before and during my first time out. Afterwatds I couldn't figure out why I was so scared, everything went fine. The second time out was much better since I was not so nervous. Congratulations on your first time out, may you have many more wonderful nights out.

Just please be careful - there are a lot of crazys out there. My therapist gave me a long lists of DONTS for when out in public. Its a heady experiece, but keep your common sense up front.

Eliz - If you feel comfortable doing so, that list of "donts" would probably be valuable for us all, I'm very noob at this, I wouldn't want things to go badly when I could take steps now to avoid a bad situation . . .
