Does masterbating increase or decrease testosterone levels?

Or does it have no effect?

a serious answer would be nice.

I think it increases testosterone levels, because you have a surge of hormones that rush through you when you do that.

at first, i was just going to say that it has no effect; that's what i'd thought.

but i decided to use yahoo, and now i have no idea - there is just so much conflicting information and so many arguments both ways.

i thought i knew the answer, but i really don't. i'm sorry...

from what i picked up, some were saying that it causes no noticeable or even gradual change in t levels, despite those baseless rumours that it causes a decline or rise.

then there were others certain that it causes a temporary fall but a short-term increase, despite those misinformed people claiming no change.

a few tried to make a link with elevated levels of dihydrotestosterone (dht).

and then there was one who asserted than it causes an raise in t levels, but subsequent orgasm turns this to a decrease.

so i'm confused. but i'm actually kind of interested now, i wasn't before - if only to debunk a misconception or three.

is there a definitive answer? for the moment, perhaps we could just sette with "it makes you go blind".

Is this one of those where it would be positive for an ftm but negative for a mtf (since the later would be looking to reduce it)?

I'm not a Doctor or Biologist but I don't believe it has any effect. If I recall it increases endorphine levels in your brain and seriton levels, but has no significant change in hormone levels. Testosterone and endorphine/seriton have opposite effects on the body.

It seems like there is no study to prove what is true & what is false.

The arguments I have seen are as fallows:

Masterbating decreases testosterone: After ejaculation, one feels non-agressive. The reason I dont belive this is because masterbation puts a lot of strain on the body, and one becomes tired, which may or may not effect T or agression.

Masterbating increases testosterone: The sudden decrease in sperm causes the body to produce more, but to do that, increased testosterone is required.

I don't think self gratification has any effects on testosterone or estrogen. Doing it more or less shouldn't change how HRT affects you or anything. I don't think there are really any studies on this.

well a tv show spike "man myths or w.es" said that it doesnt increase testone doesnt effect it all, the myth was that sex before a big game decreases testrone lower pefromance so it it does nothing to m-lol
