Freak Show

Hi,

I saw a german TV show last week. I zapped in and only watched for some minutes. The main theme of the talk show was that the audience in the studio must find out if the person is:

- real man

- real woman

or

- MTF

- FTM

It was some kind of freak show because the person itself was not important. They make entertainment with the curiousety of strange people.

I was wondering how they get transgendered people for this show? If I spent so much time and enegery to pass in daily life, why should I go to a show to be the joke of the evening?

Greetings

Ouch, these kind of things make me really sad.

It is definitely bad publication for all of us.

I have some ideas about the type of person who would go on the show, but they would do almost anything to be in the spotlights.

I'm wondering how people would react if the show was similar but about gay/straight, stupid/intelligent or Catholic/Protestant/Muslim/Whatever.... Then it's suddenly forbidden because it might be "encouraging discrimination".

Barf! :banghead::wacko::banghead::wacko:

Dutchie....

How right you are...really make me mad, too. But, of course, these people aren't kidnapped off the streets..they do the shows willingly......and it tears down a whole lot of good will and understanding that we strive SO hard to build. Freak show is right!

That show, Jerry Springer, Dr. Phill....all do it for ratings and they really don't give a dang about the lives of those on the show or their respective communities! How sad!

And so ...we must keep plugging at the holes they rip out....

Never ends

Sigh***

As has been said these people just adore the thought of being under those bright TV lights, it's their claim to fame but they should realize that it damages them themselves also, and the most upsetting thing of all is the harm to us all, instead of the public seeing genuine folks who try extremely hard to live a good life, all they see is that sort of rubbish, and that is just what it is. Grrr,

aw,

ok that's a really stupid German talkshow  and I don't like it, it is like the show from Dr. Phil which I saw on youtube

The problem is, that some people like to talk about their lives and they don't know how hard that is for others. This helps no one, they are ruining so much. That's so wrong.

The problem is that many people want to see something like this. This is the nature/character of the human race.

The problem in this type of TV exposure is that it can only attract the 'freaks' - look at the 'normal people' that are on Jerry Springer and Dr. Phil. Maurry Povich has the continuing DNA tests to find the child's father - one girl has been on accusing well over a dozen men - all were not the father. Why would anyone want to be shown in such a light? The answer: to some people any kind of attention is better than being egnored (I don't think so).

So they line up for their 15 minutes of infamy and don't think for one minute what it is going to do to them or anyone else. There is no stopping this kind of behavior - stupidity is not a crime.

I just turn them off and hope that other people will as well, unfortunately that is where most people find information about transgendered - from the exploits of these attention seekers.

HMMmmmMmmmm....Freak Show??? There was a show in Detroit waaay back called'Swingin' Time w/Robin Seymore" (no kidding there really was sorta'uve an early Don Kirschner type) and one afternoon he announces..."HEEEeeEEEY Guys & Girls we have a *SPECIAL* treat for you today...direct from Los Angles...Frank Zappa & THE Mothers of Invention!" Suddenly....all these really straaaaange people started floating through the 'American Bandstand' sort of crowd (hey this was like 1965) waving silken scarves (it was the G.T.O.'s) and The Mother's (Gee I like THAT) launched into the song, Help I'm a Rock...it was LIVE and uncensored...at the end Robin Seymore was...LOL...speechless for once...and said they'd be back...and they did come back on and tore up the song Trouble Comin' Any Day...this WAS Detroit...now THAT was a FREAK Show..Robin Seymore interviewing Frank Zappa...I haven't been the same since. Anyhow the sensantionalist types can fall by the wayside...better that than under my vehicle...oops...HEY...only if it's dark...and I didn't see because I was cleaning my spectacles while driving, then, and only then would I NOT be able to swerve in time to avoid their sorry selves, I'm about blind at night without the specs you see. Personally I prefer to avoid those types altogether or, at the least, promptly leave with a definative exit. I KNOW I'm not some weirdo and I can't tolerate this whole Sensationalist Television portrayal of something that is actually pretty prevalent throughout history...didn't Jean De Arc make Sainthood? Forest Gump said it best, "stupid is as stupid does" a small saying of many in the overall film, the best one can be is the best representative/ambassator, smile like The Mona Lisa and walk away from these types. And now...Back to Frank...because...It Can't Happen Here...........OW! Kelly Ann

Maybe surface tension?   I was in a political debate yesterday and it got way too focused on social stuff and I just had to steer the conversation back to how natural gas transitions to a liquid under pressure.  One of the people I was debating had a career working in that field and it was a good opportunity to expose stuff like that.  He mentioned that it isn't just pressure, it is temperature too.  So then I mentioned how the lines are running underground and asked how that played a role in it.  He came back saying that natural gas is a liquid under pressure.  I guess I didn't get a straight answer on that, but it did move my thinking one step down the road.  Perhaps I should have been more direct with him and asked him at what temperature and pressure.  Is there a chart?   I feel people would be better off if they paid more attention to the objects in their environment instead of focusing on some of the things that we hear so much of in the news.  People are pretty clueless as to how much trigonometry plays a role in so many things in our society.  Even land surveyors don't really use it anymore because programmers locked it away in a function.  Much like how cascading style sheets (CSS) is a wrapper for math.  I wonder what former president Trump thinks about all of that?  He must have some knowledge of how his buildings are constructed, right?  There certainly is a part of me that thinks he is just putting on a show about all of this.  Perhaps I'm wrong though.  All kinds of people in the world.

Hello Jennifer and welcome back.  I find New England to be a great place to live.  I have a number of acquaintances and friends in Maine and I love the state.  It seems you are doing well.     Hugs,  Jani

Oh, my "maybe this person is an egg" story is the (male presenting) piercing person and I discussed body hair removal methods, he says he doesn't want any hair except on his head, which is what I said during a couple hair removal sessions before and just after the egg cracked.

I, too, am lucky.  Here in the UK I have a great therapist, a fully supportive GP, and a psychiatrist and endo who look after me and my needs.  I found the therapist on Psychology Today.

Over the last few years of being on this site and going through medical transition, I've come to own the M->F identification.  Funny, I made a typo of M->T.  It is a curiosity if I'll ever put Gender: Female on this site.  It is my intention to be there someday.   Right now, because of career stuff and a high stress event with an electric hair clipper last fall, I'm feeling much more masculine than I would like.  I think that once I make some decent headway with my third career, I'll settle into a more feminine feeling.   I never really considered gender very much.  I certainly always used a feminine appearance as my presentation goal. I think that when I was young, I briefly had the idea of transitioning, but I convinced myself quickly that medical transition would be a bad outcome, so I put all those feelings and ideas in the closet for decades.  I'm still very apprehensive about medical transition.  I've always taken health to be a high priority for me.  I wrote a book last December about my fears of it all and my conclusion ultimately is that sometimes there is more to life than being a pillar of health.  It's important to take some chances if that is where your heart takes you.

Good morning and congratulations @MirandaBon getting your ears pierced. This opens up a new line of jewelry to buy and collect.    @KymmieLits ashamed that any employee would ever to post a sign like this.    Well Parker Von Schwinegruber not only got me up early, we enjoyed our first cup of coffee on the patio before the sun was up. Oh it was daylight but just barely. The second cup of coffee was in the recliner, and now I’m pinned here and need someone to pour my third cup.    It’s a dog’s life… Eat, play, go potty and sleep.
