The Girl Still Shines Through Sometimes...

even when I'm doin' one of the few guy-like things I still enjoy. I'm a boxing fan and last Saturday Danielle and I threw a fight party at our place to watch the Oscar De La Hoya/Manny Pacquiao match on PPV. Before it started and even into some of the early rounds, I was nothin' but a boy, or so I'm sure it looked based on the way I talked and shouted with my friends. Chad, who is one of my best friends and one of the few males that knows about my true self, probably forgot about my coming out to him if only for a few minutes stemming from the way I acted. But as the fight drew on I'm sure all in the room easily noticed the mood depreciation in me. Oscar was takin’ a beating in every round and at times, was totally humiliated especially at the point when he was trapped in the corner and did nothing but take clean face and body shots without returning fire. It was hard to watch. After 8 rounds Oscar's corner convinced him to quit and he walked to the center of the ring to hug Manny. I honestly felt my heart begin to break. I felt the tears start to swell in my eyes and hated the fact I had to fight 'em back due to the company present. Gotta keep your guard up, right!? :P But I had just watched a legend of the sport go down in flames and I swear, it rilly near ripped my heart out. Everybody in the room was talkin' poop about the outcome but I was just stunned and supersaddened. If for only a few minutes I wished I had watched the fight by myself so I could let the tears run their course and just be my natural self. I don't know, I just wanted to share this with you all knowin' you'd be the best canidates to relate with in regards to her bleeding from you at those rare times in which she's not invited. Thanks for reading, Ladies.

Okay I get it, this one isn't a hit with the other girls here and I encourage the Modz to lift it if they so desire. I just thought another may be able to relate and reflect on a brief occasion in which they tried to celebrate one of the few non-feminine activities that may have provided them with encouragement and helpful instruction at one point in their life when it looked as though they'd have to deal with bein' a boy for the remainder of their life. Yu see, Oscar has done a lot for me. Waching him from 93-present has inspired me in ways that have truth be known, helped me to survive. I was foolish enough to think that even one like my self would never have to fight again after high school. Al the jerks and bullies are behind me, right? Oooookeeedokee! But when you’re a small male like my self with clearly natural feminine mannerisms, the world only slows down on the pace at which it's cruel. Oscar is one of the guy's that kept me sharp and inspired me to stand toe to toe with a testosterone-poisoned ***hole and keep him and those alike at bay. Oscar also fought his way from the grip of severe poverty (I was poor myself) to develope himself into one who's certain to be the richest man ever in boxing. I do, despite the way it may have read, appreciate my true heart tryin' to bleed through to express her compassion for one of her heros when he was at his lowest low, indeed. I wouldn't go back and change a thing. In fact, I'd like to thank you all for choosing not to post because had you, I wouldn't have written this and made the very same thing occur. Hahaha. Good stuff, isn't it? Hey, something just occured to me. Oscar's the cutest guy to ever step into the ring. What's you’re allz thoughts on that, huh? Isn’t he hot? You sure you don't have anything to say about that? Huh? Heehee. I kill me.

well Amie...I don't see anything wrong with boxing...heck I used to watch it with Gramps on the Friday Night Fights sponsored by Gillette Razors...OOOooOOOOoOH NOOooOOOooo...dated myself again<sigh>I feel it's in one's best interest to know a bit about self-defense...even if it's a single Ladies Survival Course the Police Depts and YWCA's ect put on. Back in early '65 I had hair down to my shoulders...hey I played guitar...and when I'd walk down the street adults would actually come to their doors and hollar names like "Alice" and later "Shirley" (after a REAL mistake of a perm), er, amongst other things. I learned two languages real fast...Italian and American Indian Sign Languages...I was REALLY fluent too...alas those same adults that shouted began to send their offspring after me...at 6' 125#...I wasn't usually the type to kick sand in other peoples faces either...at least I could run like a deer. It wasn't until it got to be more than 1 at a time that my dad gave me some instructions on self preservation and it finally tapered off and then, thankfully, stopped. I haven't really had any altercations in 20+ years...it's just something I am able, and prefer, to avoid using Situational Awareness, the confidence I have in MYSELF and common sense...it's gotten me out of some pretty dangerous places on occasion where I should never have been in the first place.

Glad you enjoyed it...hey to disgard everything about your past and what you liked and didn't like is doubtless counter-productive to moving forward...aren't you really just attempting to complete your whole being? Enjoy life...it's all around and really fun...soooo get some of it! Kelly Ann

Never a serious boxing fan - probably because a close freind of my family took his son and me to a closed circuit televised match in one of the local arenas - that's what we did before cable and PPV! He took me to the Sonny Liston Cassius Clay (Mohammed Ali) rematch and as a comedian said the next day, "I was late and Liston sat down before I did!"

I was young and the immediate impression of boxing was, how much did you pay for these tickets? I am a huge football fan - being so much a Southern Belle - I never had the urge to rip my shirt off and paint slogans on my chest! I enjoy watching sports, but more and more I get less angry with the officals, coaches, players and announcers for the stupid or inept (is there such a word as ept?) things that they do and instead feel their pain and sympathize with them when the media sharks begin to attack.

The passing of a legend through death is tragic, but through defeat is so much harder for me now as I believe that death is the beginning of a new life (sorry not meaning to bring religion into this) but defet is something that will stay with them until "they finally shuffle off this mortal coil". Did you ever notice how hard it is for some people to just say - "He died."? Empathy is a hard thing to live with, we feel bad for people so deeply but for some reason we never feel the highs quite as strongly.

I am lucky enough to be living alone again and I can cry when the Cowboys lose (I am from Texas), the Mavericks or Stars lose and just when the Rangers season opens and they are mathematically eleminated from the post season (usually right after the ceremonial first pitch).

I was a participant in so many sports - trying to fit in. And at 6' 4" and only 145 pounds (Lord don't I wish I weighed that again!) you would have expexted me to be bad at or at least injury prone when playing football (touch doesn't stay touch very long - it becomes tackle at some point in almost every game and flag football, better wear pads) but I am rather sturdy even when underweight, no serious injuries at anytime during my life. I never had people trying to pick a fight with me in those days because I had develpoed sort of a Bad A** attitude (mostly towards myself). Now I think that I am an easy target - I may be huge, about 330, but I have allowed myself to connect to my natural sensitivity full time and I know that preditor types sense that like a shark senses blood in the water! It's just another part of being yourself and all of the prices attached are worth it for inner peace.

Love ya,

Sally

So Im not a boxing person, but I do love movies. The other day I was watching "Walk the Line" with a co-worker who doesnt know about the real me. I dont know why Ive watched the movie many times before, but I started to get a little choked up during one of the scenes and it took all of my willpower not to let it show. Whew close one! The co-worker I was watching the movie with was the bosses daughter and I'm fairly certain that if either of them finds out they will make the remainder of my working experience a living hell. Not the most understanding people in the world.

Your bein' from Florida coupled with havin' deer-like speed made you even more elusive seein' as that makes you a Key Deer, huh? LOL. I worked down in and around the Key's several years back and those lil' bugerz are tiny compared to our corn-fed giants up here in Ohio. They do more damage to cars too. My sister's fiance hit one every winter for 8 years straight. No BS. I guess a Cougar beit the animal version or no always wins over the deer, huh? Heehee. Be good.

Golly Sally...I lost $5.00 on the Liston/Clay fight...I was in 6th grade...I remember reading Sports Illustrated on some family trip the month before it happened...a real hero/winner was born that fight...and later because of the courage of his convictions a legend was born...I rarely win bets...it's a natural aptitude...and I've tried to never play poker LOL...Actually Amie I've lived in Florida for about 24 years now...everything wild but the feral boars (lol bores are everywhere) are dinky...I grew up in Michigan outside of Detroit and moved to Los Angles when I was something like 22 and was there in L.A. about 12 years or so...the deer here are about the size of a Great Dane...they're teeny! I don't know why they're hunted...gators gotta eat too though. Just remember to duck 'n weave...keep your chin up...keep eye contact...don't waste an opportunity. Smilin' and standing tall, Kelly Ann nyah nyah nyah nyah missed me (-; ouch!!! no fair!!!!

Welcome to the forums! Writer and graphic artist (and photographer) here as well, though most of my life has been spent in the sports realm... bless you with three teenagers!! I have two and they are a handful ... I have found a lot of encouragement and help on this forum... Hope you do as well... Blessings on your journey ahead ...    Easy

During COVID lockdowns without any place to go, some neighborhood buddies and I would play Life for hours (imagine a bunch of middle aged men playing that game, it was a hoot - all sorts of 'house rules')... anyways, as much as I could get away with it, I would choose a pink peg to represent myself... sometimes even had a female name to go with it... this was before I even really pondered whether or not I was trans ...   I was very determined to do this ... so interesting to look back and see all the threads pointing me to where I am now, though it has come as such a surprise as well...   Easy

Thank you all for the helpful responses... I realize some of HRT is for mental health -- like I said above I really am enjoying the ride so far in that regard!   Guess there is a part of me that wants to have my cake and eat it too. I want to have a nice feminine shape within reason for my age (fat distribution - you can kick in whenever you want!!). Yet, I am still not out to family, so I want it to be subtle enough as I go along that I can cover tracks when necessary ... Not the ideal situation but it is what it is ... maybe when family realizes that this is not making me into a monster, they will come around to some of it. I can hope, right?   More and more, I just want to look in the mirror and see a female body staring back at me ... I want female clothing that I put on to look like it fits me to a T... (and by T, I don't mean testosterone, lol)...    EasyE

Good afternoon M.A.   Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums, I think you'll find that there are a lot of us who had their first therapist reconsidering our story and recommended us to gender or LGBTQIA specific therapist. I made my first therapist cry after asking me what was my worst experience or memory. She was not prepared for the can of worms I brought to the couch. My second therapist is a gem, she's my age and knows how to work with my thoughts.    My two kids were also involved in the arts programs in school one in theater, the other combined art and modern music.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Welcome.   This can be a good sounding board and a place to say things you otherwise could not. Be yourself. Find out what that is.   Abby

I'm wearing a white t shirt and jeans.  The t-shirt is softer than a man's and slightly girly.  Feeling kinda pretty.

That's very common in internet forums and it is hard not to take it personally sometimes.   You might post "bump" with a smiley face to bring it to the top of the stack, or you might use the @ feature if there are certain people you would really like to have comment on it, and say something like Dear Abby, I would really like your input on this.  Please take a minute and respond.  Thanks!!!

The same for me... That's exactly were MmIndy came from. I started choosing female skins as soon as they became available in the few games I played.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Something else I noticed @Ladypcnj Since I use the Unread tab, I don't see threads I've read again until someone replies to it, or the author adds something.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Good morning @Ladypcnj   Some posts get lost in the busy times here. It also maters how people navigate the site. Some only look at their notifications, or tap the All Activity tab which shows them thread they've commented on. (how I see it)... I on the other hand use the Unread tag under Activity. I don't think people ignore post as much as they get caught up reading threads they've already been active in.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
