Nightmares

Hey guys.

So, I've been having nightmares every night recently. A few weeks ago, a lot of my dreams were about me with the correct genitalia and that was cool and everything. In the last week or so, it's switched so that in my dreams I'm somehow stuck without pants or underwear and people can see that my lack of appropriate genitalia and I'm trying to do everything I can to cover myself up, but it's not very effective without having any clothing. It's super scary. I think it's cause I'm going to see my family for the first time since I transitioned in less than week. It's strange how family can dredge up so much fear. It's hard to just not care what they think or say or do.

On the bright side of this trip, they've at least agreed to call me by my initials (instead of dreaded birthname) and my mom is letting me bring my own christmas stocking with my name on it (since she will otherwise hang the one with the other name on it).

Oh, Mike!

That's horrible the worst possible variation on the old being at school naked!

You are right about family bringing up such fears, we do need and want their support and we don't always get it!

I hopr that you can get some sleep! And remember, "This too shall pass". I imagine that once the holidays are over (they cause almost as much harm as good for some of us) and this encounter is behind you , your dreams will return to normal (whatever that is! :D ).

Try not to worry too much, you have a good handle on it already. If you find yourself awakened by it drop by - we have a few night owls and they just might have some hot Cocoa to help calm you down. :D

Love ya,

Sally

I definately agree with what Sally said. (But what else is new lol) I also seem to remember someone (I think it was my grandmother too....) saying that to dream you are without clothes conotates being embarassed (or maybe it was just one of her dream books....). Maybe you fear that the visit will be embarassing in some way? In either case, definately log if you get the need.

Don't know what to say, I just wanted to say that my thoughts are with you! Nightmares and facing obstacles are both difficult.

I'm sure family is a tender subject (in good ways for some, and bad for others) for all of us.

Sorry about the dreams, I'm not much help there. Facing your family will be hard but try to relax before seeing them if you already arn't. Do a few fun things, buy a drink or somthing you like - work out maybe? Somthing. Maybe that'll help and get your mind off them for awhile before you go in.

Best of luck with your family.

i've had dreams where i was naked in public before...normally i was in school...but they weren't really centered around trans stuff like that. i haven't had those dreams in awhile, it was mostly when i was like jr-high-ish age.

but this reminded me of this dream i had a few nights ago...that i could find out for myself if i had a prostate because eventually it would build up under so much pressure that it would burst and be released as....blood. so when that happened I was really happy.

very, VERY strange dream...

thanks guys. The folks I live with are kind of like my adopted parents and their dad (who is also like my adopted granddad) has been in the ICU all this week, so they've not really been available to help talk my anxiety down about the trip and dreams and stuff.

Oh man that sucks - hopefully it will pass and you can have regular dreams again. After I started T my dreams changed a little bit. They are very vivid but usually really short - I used to have only so-so dreams (in terms of vivid-ness) but they were really long. I know that when I have anxiety they get very very vivid now. I haven't had the no-clothes one though...

I had nightmares similar to your's when I was like 5. I just told myself that it could never because I'd never forget to put pants on or something like that and my dreams returned to normal. Whatever narmal was when I was 5. lol
