If you're full time or not, if you dress just once a week or every day: if you can't wait to take your bra off at the end of the day, chances are you're wearing the wrong size.

Personally, for me, my bras are comfortable. I don't dread putting it on, and it's usually one of the last things I take off before bed, even when I'm done for the day and lounging around. It's just that comfortable to wear. Then again, I've had a bra fitting and I'm wearing the correct size.

If the band is riding up, if the sides of the bra are not parallel to the ground, if the straps are digging into your shoulders or if the straps are always falling off your shoulders..chances are you're wearing the wrong size.

Now here's the tricky part: where do you go for a bra fitting? Well, I went to Lane Bryant, then again I'm a bigger girl. She gave me two options, either measure outside of my clothes, or inside the dressing room with my shirt off. I told her that these aren't all me, that I had breast forms. She didn't care. She did the measurement and came up with 46C..which is the size that I was currently wearing.

I've heard Victoria's Secret is also trans-friendly, but if you're worried about crowds since they're mostly in malls, you can plan to get there when they first open or right before they close. If you're nervous about it, rustle up some courage and ask on of the girls. Tell her that you're transgender (or your gender identity of choice here) and you're looking to buy a new bra but you're not sure if you're wearing the right size and if they would be okay measuring you just to make sure.

Like I said, the important thing here is getting up the courage to ask. If you never ask, you'll never know. They could be totally cool and comfortable with it but you'll never know if you don't ask.

Oh, and since my bra fitting, I've dragged two other women into Lane Bryant and made them get a bra fitting, including my mother! Each time it turns out the lady I dragged was wearing the wrong size and once they tried on their correct size it made a huge improvement in comfort, overall appearance and, well, their boobs looked better since they were correctly supported.

You can do it, girls! :)

Yes I have heard 75% wear the wrong size. any idea what the common mistake is? I used to have a problem with shoulder falling and cups creasing I went from a 36a to a 34a it is a much better fix.

That is great advice. Much of the written information is somehow difficult to pull off without help. It's hard to speak to a sales woman about anything, even more so your bra size, but when its all day blisters are no fun either. The women are there to help us and they do and are very supportive as is the right size.

Hugs,

Charlie

I've got bras of every shape and size that I am trying out. I still havent settles on a cup size. I'm trying to look balanced and not like a cartoon charachter.... I'm think a C cup will be where I will swind up at. Then a bra fitting would be an excelent idea.

I think one of the issues for sizing starts in the teen years. Either they start at the wrong size, or they grow and mature into the wrong size. Bodies change as we move through life.

There also needs to be consideration for more than just cup or band size. There is also strap placement for narrow/wide shoulders, as well where a strap comes off the cup for best weight support.

I am happy to say that per HRT, i am in a comfortable 38C, and I love love love Chantelle.

I went to a CD friendly lingerie shop, the ladies fit me with the proper size bra. All the bras I have bought are very

comfortable to wear.

Another good thing about wearing a properly fitting bra..it makes your boobs look fantastic. I've caught myself checking myself out when I see my silhouette or if I'm alone with a mirror. "Omg Liz, are those yours?" Yes...yes they are.

Lizzie hit the nail on the head. I find my bra so comfortable it is one of the last things I take off before bed and from time to time fall asleep with it still on (Watch TV in bed) for a while I thought it was because I am a smaller size (34a) but after talking with other girls who also find the same comfort I found it was because I was wearing the right size for me.

Cant agree with this one more, I do the same thing hehe

Lizzie your like the E. F. Hutton of forums. When Lizzie speaks, the thread listens hehehehe. I have seen your responses on other threads and they were spot on. Go girl, keep it up :) For everyone who hasn't gotten fitted, do it. It is ssooo worth it. Bra's should be our friend not our punisher

Unless that is what your "into". But that's another post.

That lefthandedly reminds me of a Steve Martin bit called "Cruel Shoes". Look it up on Google, it's a hoot.

hi vidanjali !! i know exactly what you mean, i do have a few trans and otherwise queer friends nearby me but currently i present as 'cis' for obvious reasons so it's not all that easy for me to reach out and find that kind of community (though i do love my irls!!)   but yeah, i get this weird paranoia that if i come out to too many people it'll end up tracing back to my folks (not everyone knows my family is homophobic and being outed is a big fear of mine)   but im sooo happy to know that that feeling was just dysphoria !! i thought i was going crazy for a minute !!.   thanks so much for welcoming me, and you have a great day too !!

hi susan!! thats very much how i feel !! i have no issue explaining my gender or educating other people on transness but it feels like im talking to a brick wall of misinformation even if they are well-meaning and accepting people ! but thank you anyways for welcoming me here !!

This is a fairly long video by Philosophy Tube,  (Abigail Thorne)  Discussing some of Judith Buttler's work and related stuff.   I wasn't sure where to post it, so if there is a better place, move it.

I have a fantastic therapist. She is so caring she has helped me open up so much. Unfortunately, She is ending her internship. Do to a hiring freeze at the VA she isn't going just go right into a position there.  My Endo is out of the Denver VA hospital. I haven't talked with her in probably 2 yrs. I am  looking to transfer providers and get back to seeing a GYN at the Cheyenne VA.

Shopping at the mall today and helping out at Torrid I excused myself to the restroom. The manager told me the restroom at JC Penny was much closer (I normally use the family restroom in the food court).   Upon arrival I discovered that JC Penny doesn't have a family restroom, it's either or.   The men's room was occupied with customers, and me going in with large breasts, long hair, and makeup was going to cause a stir, so I opted for the woman's room instead. I was the only one in the woman's room.    Texas state law does state that your must use the restroom that matches your chromosomes, and it's a misdemeanor to not do so, but it seemed to be the best choice (I really needed to go!)

I had some guy grab my butt on the ship.  I don't know how "real" it was, but I did not enjoy that at all.  Also did not enjoy the hazing I saw other people going through.  One person can only do so much to stop that when there are 10 people doing it.

I pulled this out of a stack of old military mementos yesterday.  I guess I didn't realize how cool this one was because I did so much of this kind of thing back then.

This internet video thing is pretty amazing.  I'd call it Zoom, but there are other platforms out there.  I prefer Zoom over Teams because Zoom puts me and everyone else in the same picture.  I like seeing the whole group in one shot.  Teams of course is about having so many people that you can't get them in the shot, or is it?   Just saying that I have never met any of my counselors in person.  Doctors, of course I have and I am lucky there.  They are 3.5 miles from my house as is the main transgender surgery place in town.  I've been doing virtual visits with the medical doctors lately though.  It feels like once I became steady state, they don't need to interact with me physically that much.  I have enjoyed going into their office in my nice clothing.
