Question: Are You Gender Or Non-gender?

I am wondering how many of us are gendered and how many are non-gendered. I notice that many androgynes prefer to appear genderless, wearing clothes and hairstyles and so on in order to appear as if they have no gender. (I think that is what is meant by being without gender but correct me if I am wrong). My preference is to appear with characteristics of both genders; I WANT people to know I am a sexual being and I also want them to not be sure which sex I am (I am a genetic male). Something on the order of having noticable breasts as well as a crotch bulge in my jeans (a crude example but just wanting to make a point). I want to have the appearance of being both male and female rather than appear with their absences. My understanding is that that is to be androgynous with gender. My sense is that there are more non-gendered than gendered of us but I just don't know. Does anyone have any thoughts on the subject? I can see there could be a satisfaction for a person to be able to be both gendered and non-gendered (depending upon the particular circumstances or social situation), or is that just not possible? I'm sure there is a wide range between those two poles of gendered and non-gendered. Is there a difference between genetic females and genetic males in their preferences? I'd be interested in hearing others' thoughts.

Irielle: Androgeny is the mystery that I love, not only do passers by not know what sex you are, you don't know for sure either. This is all part of the mysterey of pur existence, be happy........Mia.

Mia - you are so right! I never know for sure which gender I am. I guess that's why I like to have characteristics of both. I scored 30 on the COGIATI which puts me almost exactly in the middle but I know I'm more feminine than that. And I am very happy with that mystery, also. My life would be poorer without it, but if I didn't have it I probably wouldn't know enough to miss it. That's another part of the mystery! :D

Um... *brain explodes* I'm new enough to this that I'm not yet sure I'm androgyne, let alone if I'm gender or non-gender. So let me see if I can explain me without answering the question.

Until a couple days ago when my brain got flipped on its head, I considered myself a "female-presenting androgyne", a name I found in another topic that I thought fit me pretty well (with a minorly different connotation). I switched out, one day dressing more male, the next more female. (I always tried to remember to walk and talk in a more masculine way, because I've been doing it the other way for seventeen years and I want to get it in my body and voice how to do it the new way.) I wanted to be gender-neutral in terms of interests and personality, and be able to switch out physically.

Then a couple of days ago... The trigger for this is going to sound stupid. I turned on my GameBoy for the first time in like a year. Started playing Pokemon Sapphire. And I decided to be the boy, not just because I've been thinking androgyne, but because I would rather be that boy than be that girl. It sounds stupid, but it hasn't gone away. Actually, it's escalated. I've become abruptly aware that I would rather be able to wear what I normally wear and look gender neutral than switch out the way I was thinking before. I want to get a binder. I hadn't even considered that before; it hadn't gotten--I guess 'serious' enough for me to consider it.

So I think, based on what you've said, I would say that I want to present as genderless. For now. I'll let you know if that changes.

Well. androgyne by default right now - I have begun that transition thing and seem to be a rather feminine looking in this male body right now. I am getting those looks - guess people are assuming I am gay or something, which is no big deal, just funny. I await the part where I graduate to looking like a masculine woman for a while, then the final womanly looking woman.

But I suppose the androgyne is smack dap it the middle there somewhere.

Hey, genderless? Not to me - seems more like dual-gendered. [Actually I consider my gender as ALWAY having been female]

Sex-lessness? Is that a word - nahhhh. I am not in a sexually functioning male body as the HRT stopped that. I am not a sexually functioning female as I don't have ... well.... that equipment. So I am neutered like my cat!

Tain't bad, feel better than I have in years - kinda peaceful. :P

I know what you're talking about! I feel more male inside than I do female (but the female is there) and wish to have a more masculine body (i'm born female) but also wish to retain some feminine 'finesse' if you know what I mean. ;P So that when a person looks at me they can't tell if I'm a flat chested girl or a fem looking boy. Haha. It's always fun to keep them thinking. But right now you can pretty much tell I'm a girl, even with my binder on and I'm wearing all guy clothes. >.< It sucks.

I am working on my wardrobe, trying to figure out how I want to look. I bought some girl's jeans today and I LOVE them! Low rise and I love how they make my rear look. I feel very sexy in them. And I have a couple running bras and I wear breast forms underneath that look totally real and natural and they are not too big. When my hair grows out more I can do it in a feminine way. I have no body hair. Then with maybe just a touch of makeup and dark glasses I hope I can have them wondering Oh my goodness  But I'll have to wait for warmer weather! Right now there's no way I can hide that I'm a boy. One of these days, though!

Just for fun:

Rey, I encountered some very interesting visual trick. It was somewhere on Youtube. (see link below) The made an animation of a girl that was dancing, now the video was made to show if you are left or right brained, if you were left brained the girl would dance the other direction than a right brained person, now here it comes: I could do both on command! I only had to visualize something (creative right brain) and it turned the other way. Then I did some maths in my head, and I saw it turn left while doing maths! I was stunned! I could really feel switching between left and right. I rather knew that already since I am ambidextrous as well.

Left/Right brain test (just for fun eh?):

I looked at the dancer on the link. I could make her go both ways too and the default direction, if I just relaxed my brain, was right brained. Absolutely no surprise there. I am ambidexterous also with a tendency towards left handed. :)

I'm right-brain dominant (what a shock). I can't get it to switch. Maybe I should try it another time... say, after playing with physics or something. Last time I took a test (survey format) I tested integrated.

P.S. I think I remember my art teacher showing us that... But I don't remember when. Now I'm frustrated... *goes off to watch again*

Found another one:

That one comes complete with videos to help you switch about 2:30 into the vid. Now I can switch her! Default was clockwise, though. (Which is weird, because I'm right-handed.)

I tried it again, now I can switch even faster.

Instead of doing maths I figured out another way for faster switching:

it turned right: I thought about Einstein and relativity (only the notion of it) it started spinning left immediately! without calculations of some kind, just the idea!

it turned left: I thought ONLY about the word "sex", and it started to spin right immediately!

I guess it seems that some words have some value of some kind, or generate images in your head that cause it to switch, at least in my case.

 funny stuff.

Rants are not a problem.  My favorite hobby! :)   What's out there is bad enough that I wonder why some people feel they need to embellish it.  Be alert.   Some of this will need to be fought in court if they try to implement it. If people are out to get me, paranoia is justified.  And this may not be the only document.   Abby
    • Ivy
Not in so many words, therefore it's not there at all.  Excuse my paranoia. And the states passing laws against us are nothing to worry about either. Having to change my gender back to male (like in Florida) is reasonable.  I should just accept it, I mean I was born with a dk.  So that "F" is lie, and a fraud.  My delusions need to be dealt with for my own good.   I'm just frustrated these days.  Just a bit of a rant.

You probably remember the Target PR fiasco.  I remember reading an account from a woman who shopped there.  She went into a stall and did her business, and someone came into the bathroom and began swinging stall doors open, and when she came to her stall, the woman peeked at her through the crack. "What are you doing?" "Checking for perverts." The writer was so stunned by the absurdity that she finished up ASAP and got out of there, while the other woman entered a stall and locked it, made sure it was locked, and locked it again.

      Nothing about eradicating TG folk.
    • Ivy
If 9 out of 10 parts are ok, that doesn't mean I need to accept the bad parts (that are aimed directly at me).  That seems suicidal.
    • Ivy
True, most of it has nothing to do directly with us.  It's the parts that do that are the problem.   I see the  few problematic statements as being a big problem.  Just because a lot of it may be okay, doesn't change that. Even supposing the rest of it might be good for the country, it doesn't help me if I'm being "eradicated".  I suppose I should be good with that, because it's for the "greater good".  If me being gone would please a number of people, then it's my civic duty to disappear, and vote to implement that.
    • Ivy
Yeah.  There are already laws against assault.  I don't think the overwhelming majority of trans women have any desire to harass cis women.  Speaking for myself, if I go into a women's washroom, it's because my eyeballs are already floating - not for kicks.  And I worry about getting clocked and assaulted by some guy being a "hero."

Only three, maybe four, sections even mention transgender.  Most is a conservative agenda I have no problem with.   In the sections that mention transgender, there are very few lines.  Those lines ARE problematic, in every case. Unequivocally.  I can't see some of them standing up in court.  In one case a recommended policy goes against a court decision, which strongly suggests the implementation of that policy would be stopped in court.    Anyone maintaining that this is written simply to support Trump, to support him becoming a dictator, to crush transgender people is feeding you a line.  Nor is it an attempt to erase transgender people.   People will have to decide if the overall goals are worth the few problematic statements.  Overall, I support it.  Of course, I have some reservations.

It is unfamiliar, therefore threatening.   For 90% or so of the population, gender id can be simply and quickly determined by a quick anatomical observation.  They have no understanding and cannot imagine what it would mean to have a body different from the id.  It is unimaginable.  Therefore, wrong.   So there is this strong headwind.   I haven't entered this discussion, but here is a script: A: I can't imagine what it must be to have TG. B: You're a man, right? A: Well, of course. "amused" B: Imagine you were required by law and custom to wear women's clothing all the time. A: It wouldn't happen. B: Okay, but for the sake of the argument... A: That would be disgusting.  I would be very uncomfortable. B: You have it.  That is what TG people go through all the time. 24-7-365. A: Really? B: And then they are told they are perverts for having those feelings.  The same you just described. A: I see. B: And someone comes along and tells you you need conversion therapy so you will be comfortable wearing women's clothing all the time. A: I think I would break his nose. B: You understand transgender folk better than you think.

I have found some people correlate TG = child predator ... just as some have correlated homosexual = child predator...    I am baffled by the TG = unsafe connection ... my wife tends to think this way, that this is all about sexual deviancy ... I try to ask how my preference for wearing frilly socks with embroidered flowers and a comfortable camisole under my lavender T-shirts is sexually deviant (or sexual anything) but I don't get very far...

Best wishes to you as you take this step ... many blessings to you!

Not sure.  The perp is a minor.  The problem here is NOT transgender, the problem here is incompetent and criminal administration.  See https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/family-of-loudoun-co-student-sexually-assaulted-ineptitude-of-all-involved-is-staggering/3231725/ It is more than annoying that people think the problem here is TG and that other people think the solution is some stupid statewide law.  Like an appendectomy to deal with an ingrown toe nail.    Since Loudon, I recall a boy was asked not to use the girl's restroom at a high school by one of the girls.  He, overwhelming her with height and weight,  assaulted her, claiming he had a right to be there.   Later I think eight girls beat him severely in another girl's restroom.  Again the problem is not transgender, the problem is assaults in restrooms and common courtesy.  TG is used as a smokescreen and it seems to paralyze thought among administrators who do not want to do anything to provoke controversy.

Time to get with your Primary Care doctor and be referred to a neurologist or an orthopedist.  It could be many things, too many for any of us here to guess at.
