what mistake, he was simply pointing out how stupid people were being, and church and state should be separate, churches should be run like any other company or club, except regarding burial grounds which should be controlled by the state because of the public health issues they can cause.

The mistake he acknowledged was that he had the wrong notes for his speech (wrong context), is what I heard. Maybe I need more coffee this morning, dunno. Freedom from religion (if I so choose) is my right.

Yeah, Cynthia, he didn't really have the wrong notes. He said that for effect. What he was actually saying was that he plagiarized the whole speech from one in the 50's of a white man arguing against the rights of black people to be free of segregation. He only changed a few words to make it about the lgbt population. His point was that the argument was stupid in the 50's, and it's still stupid now. He is supporting lgbt rights.

Thanks Shilo, when i hear certain tones of voice or speaking styles, my attention span wanes, his voice reached those tones, I tend to tune out those that use preaching styles, I guess I was forced to listen to much of that when growing up....

Yes, his entire speech is a parody based on the 1950s racial segregationists and their "godly" basis for racism. Rev. Snider is a good man and he was showing the absurdity of this position. He also was showing Christians who claim that they follow the Old Testament that you better follow ALL of the Old Testament (which is horribly racist, misogynist, and brutal) or be labeled inconsistent. It was a brilliant ploy. Simply brilliant.
