Hello Helenia,

Not knowing the confidentiality laws of Qatar, I'm afraid I can't answer your question. Perhaps you could make an anonymous call to a drug center and inquire as to their policies of confidentiality. I'm not sure what you mean by using butane but it doesn't sound good. I would urge you to seek help irregardless of whether your dad finds out or not. Good luck.

When I was very young..... the 70`s. Drug use and glue sniffing was the rage. I have heard about so many volatile compounds used to inhale to get high, I have lost count. Butane is just another one.

Getting high on sniffing any volatile chemical is probably the most dangerous things to do. Butane as all other petroleum based chemicals are extremely toxic to humans. You get high because your body is being poisoned.

Instead of worrying about confidentiality, why not just stop so you don't have to worry about brain damage or death. The real source of your problem is your stress management.

You can handle stress without chemicals. You will grow and feel so much better about yourself when you do.

Stress is a part of life. You can deal with the stress in your life if you allow yourself to do so.

Don't hide from the realities of your life.

Confront them.

Huffing the butane is extremely dangerous, but I know that JUST STOPPING is going to be VERY hard if you do not have support and a program to help you with it. I do not know a thing about Quatar and its social customs and laws as far as medical treatment goes, but many of the 12 step programs such as Narcotics Anonymous or even Alcoholics Anonymous are found world wide and can give you a big hand in finding confidential help, since they are not under government supervision and control.

One thing for you to think about, if you are trying to hide something from your father, using any form of intoxicant, butane included, is the worst and most certain way to expose yourself since it will dull your sense of self protection, and your normal ability to control your thoughts and voice. Even if you do not kill yourself, you could easily pass out where someone will see you and report it to your dad. His finding out that way is going to be thousands of times worse than haveing a qualified counselor help you tell him in a family counseling session as you work through the problems that lead to the huffing. Find a way to take a chance on letting your dad know of your problems with the right help and you sober instead of hiding them or thinking you can.

I am a parent of young adult children, and a recovering alcohol and prescription drug addict with four years of recovery, and know too well and too many tears later what I am saying here.

There are many ways to deal with stress that do not involve drugs or chemicals. These should be your first line of approach. As I suggested above, NA or AA groups to begin, then physical activity is one of the major ways, running, speed walking, swimming, tennis and other activities give a rush of wellbeing on their own. Volunteer work in your community or spiritual home, hospitals, libraries or even schools will keep your mind open and get people around you. The International Red Cross branch in your country always needs help in so many ways, even with just office work. No money, but good people around you to take your mind away from any stresses that you will dwell on and take to suicidal ideation levels. This will certainly not solve your gender issues, but will put you with people likely to HELP you when you can get back on the medical track. I am relieved to hear that your suicidal urges are controlable for the time being, but think of adding these other things to the partial peace you have at the minute.

Helenia,

I don't know the laws or customs of Qater either. I do know that huffing kills brain cells and maybe other organs as well.

your friends here are right. There are other ways to handle stress. Help is available if you look for it.

Having taken on the site, forums, and all of the bills, from Dev (May 2020) and because I also want to be fully transparent about the cost of running the site, I feel it's time to update this information. Sorry that it has taken me two years since I last gave an update, just life getting in the way.   If you'd like to donate, please do so via the green bar at the top of the forum pages.  The months of July through October are pretty heavy with annual and semi-annual expenses and every little bit helps.   Here's the breakdown as it stands now:   Chat is now free. (Stu now runs the Chat)   Regular Charges: There are occasional one off's as well. Forums:  $70.00 every six months (February and August, effectively billed in January and July). (Was $45 until 2022, support ticket system depreciated!) Resource Locator:  $53.00 yearly, this "widget" failed this year, so I have been able to find a (currently) free replacement. Resource Locator Mapping: Google maps, currently under the minimum monthly usage, so free. Email Delivery: $5.00 monthly currently free, changed to a service that offers a much larger monthly allowance. Server Rental:  $30.00 monthly. Greatfully sponsored by The Breast Form Store. Security Software:  Now included in the package we have. Domain Renewals: Approx $75 annual charges for Transgenderpulse.com, Lauras-playground.com and the server domain. Contact Us Form Software: $79 yearly (August).   Total Monthly Breakdown: $54.50 per month.  (Annual bills = $654) Updated May 2024 (Slightly down on previous years).   Now then.  I'm on a fixed income, which means I know what it's like not having a penny to spare.  If you're not in a position to donate, please don't feel guilty; I didn't take over here to turn a profit.  The lights will stay on.  Donations are very much appreciated, but they are not a requirement of membership.   An update to clarify a couple of points: Because you have to use your legal name with PayPal, emails confirming your donation from PayPal will be from a name with the initials "DS", not Petra Jane and the email used is tgp (at) uk-web***   Unfortunately, we can only accept payment through PayPal, and please ensure that you have permission to make any donation through a PayPal account, we have been stung by someone alledgedly using a PayPal account without the owner's permission and incurred an additional $20 chargeback to refund the donation!   We have recently seen a number of these of late so I am asking that genuine donators please add your forum username in the comment box so that I, and I alone, will know who has sent the donation and that it is genuine. Thank you. Also, this appears only to Members who are logged in on the forums, New Members need to have made a minimum of 10 posts.   Let me reassure you: Donations help towards ongoing costs related to keeping the site running, including hosting, bandwidth, etc. It also encourages us to commit regular updates, add features, and improve the service. Our promise to you is that this site and its use will always remain free of charge.     Petra Jane
