Well this topic is definitely a 180° from my last little "episode". I am starting to look at things a bit more clearly now.

After having a very lengthy discussion with my cousin last night, in which we examined exploratively, some of the deeper recesses of our prefrontal corticies, I came to some realizations. One of which Id like to share as it is directly involved with the recent news I'll reveal at the conclusion of this post.

Life, it seems, is filled with ups and downs and grey-areas galore. Sometimes those "downs" (mistakes, let-downs, afflictions, failures, etc) somehow lead inevitably to "goods". We usually cannot see the "downs" as being beneficial, less we remove the blinders of self-pity and deprecation, and see the patterns emerge from our past experiences in a more correlative light.

She and I recounted past anecdotes in our lives where something bad would happen, then unbeknownst to us at the time, something good would happen that otherwise would've been hard-pressed to come about, were it not for the preceding bad incident. Allow me to elaborate with just a few examples that come to mind:

She failed her first attempt at 12th grade because she'd get bored in class and so would play hookie frequently (a little too frequently for the administration at her school to like) and so had to repeat her senior year. This, she did not want to do at the same school, so she transferred to another. Here she met a boy that would forever change her future story, by becoming eventually, the love of her life. Incidently he was also at the time, repeating his senior year. If not for the bad things (them both failing scholastically), they wouldve never met, gotten married, had beautiful child, or spend the last 8 years loving each other completely.

Or take if you will, an account on the other end of the spectrum of "coincidence":

I may have had my many breakdowns (including the one I had a few days ago), but if not for them, it is extremely unlikey that I wouldve ever gained any insights into myself or the world around me. I wouldve stagnated in ignorant bliss, unaware of the troubles that face humanity (as individuals and as a whole). I wouldve never started to know myself, therefore not reaching the point I am in my life today of being true to myself and of correcting Nature's folly by transitioning.

These now undeniable truths may be hard to see as anything but happenstance, but Im sure if you all look into the depths of your own experiences in life, you will find similar correlations.

This brings me to my good news.

The fact that I first, had so much trouble finding an Endo, then after finding one (Dr. Tangpricha, Atlanta), discovering that his next available appoinment wouldnt be until July of next year, seemed to me at the time to be an immense let-down. In all actuality, this made me more resolute to find the right Endo for me and so, I believe that I have. I found a Dr. in Gainesville, Fl that would be a perfect fit for me. She is very experienced with trans patients, has a small(ish) fee, and will allow me to set-up a payment plan. She also seems to have some openings at the end of November (of this year). While I have not yet made an actual appoinment with her (I had to fax my HRT Letter to her office today and am only awaiting her to review it and call me back), I have a feeling that things will turn out well.

When I told my Aunt of this, she reminded me about a family member that lives in Jacksonville, Fl (1 hour away from the Endo as opposed to my 5 hours distance), that incidently I had not yet told about myself. I did this, and to my ultimate shock and awe, not only was she accepting and thrilled, but also when hearing about the Dr. in Gainesville, she offered to let me stay with her for the first few years of my transition, so I could have a little support while I got my life together (transition, starting school, finding employment, etc). If all goes well with this Dr. I fully intend on letting go of some pride, and taking her up on her offer.

These occurences, Im now sure would have been very unlikey had I not first failed at my attempt to find what I was looking for.

The moral of this story is, Try not to let the "bad" things in life bring you down, as they may end up spawning the "good" things you hope for. Not only can you not have the "good" without the "bad", but sometimes the two are mutually inclusive.

Thanks for reading.

Hugs and Good Vibes to you all,

-Julie M.<3

The world really does work in crazy ways. It's truly impossible to know how anything will turn out before it happens. So glad to hear you're doing better girl! :)

J.M.,

You are on the right path for knowing yourself again. Sometimes we forget, and that is ok too, but it makes for a period of being on the roller-coaster. I am very happy that you are making some good things come your way.

Stay well,

Debra

Thank you so very much for sharing those good things in your life, Julie. One thing I almost always say to members who are depressed and or suicidal, and who despair of their future, is that we never know what the future holds, and if you kill yourself, you will never find out what that future might have been. It's true that things don't always work out for the best, but in my experience, they do more times than not. You are proof that such is the case, and I hope people take it to heart.

Life always surprises us, which, ironically, should come as no surprise. :D Thanks again, and good luck.

Julie!

Dang! A kindred soul! YES!!!

Love, love, love this kind of conversation!!!

More, girl, more!!!

Like, decades and decades ago, I was a theoretical astrophysics major at a fancy-pants college, and this kind to conversation was a staple to we then aspiring young nerds! This is The Good Stuff! Still love it even today as an old-timer!

Kudos to you!

Erm... What's wrong with String Theory? It's the best contender for

the Final Theory at the moment. Even though the whole notion of

"the Theory of Everything" is very close to metaphysics, in that it

can explain everything...

That is so wonderful! Comments have been made from many posts on many threads this week that we do not accurately share the bad. i know that as many times as I have posted here joy and sorrow, I think people can get a balance that is not and easy path. It is a wonderful path and I think you prove that again. With each heartache there is something or someone that pulls us from those depths. That is how, in my worst hurts, I know I'm doing what is right for me. I think when you share, you do it honestly and from the heart. I am so glad you have happier news. Hug. Jody

Thank you for sharing Julie!

However is this not what we commonly call Yin and Yang.

Congratulations on the prospect of your new Endo. and your family support.

Julie,

Wonderful post. Very apt for me. Still dealing with past stuff here but the good is there too.

Indeed it is, alongside being very closely related to many other concepts of worldly philosophies...

Wow, John Galt.

You don't see his name very often...

This is true. Which is why it is my "Question of Month" (Along with other obscure but interesting concepts that will be expounded by me in the coming months)

The whole "Question of the Month" thing is my attempt at bringing to light, topics of thought that normally are not well known about, but are nonetheless worth learning.

The writings and viewpoints (however controversal) of Ayn Rand are something every person of intelligence should be privy to, even if only to ultimately disregard them as bunk. Her writings have a way of opening people's minds to ways of thinking that they are not used to. Objectivism, while contradictory to my own views of Noumenal reality, still makes some compelling points to some people and therefore should be (like all intelligible schools of thought) looked upon with unbiased eyes by as many people possible. (Not to mention that both are also part of a pair of the dualities that are so prevalent in this Universe, and so must both be viewed with equal (but opposite) validity. Dualities have a way of being mutually inclusive.

Thank you for noticing it down there, Joann . Maybe others will follow your lead, and in doing so, become more enlightened.

Hopefully readers of this topic will also notice that both sets of ellipsis points in my prior reply have embedded links and that each point has a seperate URL. I like to be cryptic sometimes, what can I say...

Enjoy,

-Julie M.<3

Wow, those are some really big words for a dumb-a*s immigrant here.

Talk about feeling like the a*-end of a paramecium.

Well, better go un-pack my encyclopedias now.

Aside from the X-Files, Gilmore Girls is easily my favorite TV show. I originally watched the original airing in the commuter lounge at my college starting in 2000 because I was embarrassed to watch it at home when I living as a man. Now that I am out and transitioned, I watch it openly and wear Gilmore Girls t-shirts at work on days that I wear a skirt. For Valentine’s Day, my wife bought me the DVD’s. Yesterday I had to stay at work late because of an IT problem (I am not IT so I just had to make sure the pump stations telemetry was functioning properly before I could leave, IT did the actual work) and so I watched it on Netflix. Lorelai Gilmore inspired me to change my name to Lorelei. Yes, I picked a more traditional spelling on the name. The mother daughter interaction between them is heartwarming and sometimes hilarious. Last week I just started rewatching it again. Ironically I relate most to Luke, very rare as I almost always relate to a female character. Anyone else here love the show?

Good morning everyone,   @Birdie continued prayers for you as they figure thing out. I'm glad you're being properly cared for.   @April Marie I love the pageantry of the Kentucky Derby the bright dresses, and fascinating hats worn by the ladies. As for the mint juleps... I'll pass, they're just to aromatic for me.  We'll be watching "The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports" as well.   @Adrianna Danielle & @awkward-yet-sweet it is amazing how a new stove seems to cook food better. Cooking for 36 people is a phenomenal task, and if you're doing it on anything less than a professional cook stove. You're preforming miracles, and I wish you the best.   My yard work is done for the day, because I don't have to wait until Saturday to do it. I'm getting use to this mostly retired situation. The windows and doors have been open since I first got up and the yard is full of bird songs. I have the best neighbors because they don't start their noisy yard work until very late morning or early afternoon.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I took an involuntary swim wearing my quick dry hiking pants and shirt. Lifejacket not shown but present on the rock I am sitting on. Watson is dry now but I am still soaked. I capsized my kayak 5 feet from the shore trying to land on an island. Water in the pond was surprisingly warm considering it is early may in upstate New York.

We had a German Shepheard/Lab cross! It was actually our son's dog but when he moved out, Axel stayed here. ❤️ He was soooo awesome! Totally goofy, but really smart, and a million percent lovable. Unfortunately, he didn't even get to see his fifth birthday. 😢 He did both hind knees in quick succession, which were repaired, but he re-injured one and it wasn't repairable. The grief we went through after we made that horrible decision was far worse than anything we have ever experienced before or after.    @Ashley0616, please be gentle with his joints until he is all grown up!   This pic is when he was still a puppy.

Friday night was pizza night, which is actually pretty routine here.    Tonight was a bit of a seafood fry-up. Crumbed flathead tails pan fried, crumbed scallops and chips (fries) deep fried, and a salad.   Tomorrow night will be junk food at a football game.

I was admitted upstairs for observation. The nurse last night took one look at me and said, "we need to use a FEMALE external catheter on you."   They placed a PureWick catheter over me and it's working great. If there isn't anything to connect a male catheter to it just isn't going to work.   So far I haven't passed more blood, and my abdomen does feel better. A specialist is supposed to see me today and perhaps order a colonoscopy to find out where all the blood came from.
