In the heavens He would stay

Where I wish my heart be

Without this world in a fray

By my questions unanswered

Would he accept me this way?

When in His book, but writ the hand of men

Would hush my spirit with such dismay

That in, and of this world of “they”

Would seek to deny the price I would pay

And in search of some truth

To He, I did with heart and soul, pray

To swiftly change the moon to sun

So I would not know this night, but the day

And, if I could hear Him

To my hardened ear, could He say?

To shatter the walls I had kept vain

Would He keep my demons at bay?
